Switch Dominates Japanese Charts, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Sales Drop Due to Stock Shortages - Sales

Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! (NS) has debuted on the top spot on the retail charts in Japan with sales of 345,697 units, according to Famitsu for the week ending November 22.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (NS) debuted in second place with sales of 173,215 units. Fortnite: The Last Laugh Bundle (NS) debuted in fifth place with sales of 31,267 units.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (NS) came in third place with sales of 37,290 units. Lifetime sales of the game surpassed six million units.

Nine of the top 10 games are for the Nintendo Switch, while one is for the PlayStation 4.

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling platform with 179,143 units sold. The PlayStation 5 sold 42,891 units, the Xbox Series X|S sold 3,684 units, the PlayStation 4 sold 2,767 units, the 3DS sold 588 units, and the Xbox One sold 29 units.

Sony is gonna have to figure out their Japanese market approach or this is just going to get worse and worse for them. Losing a market like Japan is going to make it tough to compete consistently with the Switch

It's a very popular Monopoly game with a train-based thema. That kind of family games is extremely appealing to the japanese audience. Derby stallion is the next surprise to be expected in terms of sales in japan.
