Worldwide Hardware Estimates for April 5 to 11 - Final Fantasy VII Remake, Switch Shortages - Sales
by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 April 2020 / 6,899 ViewsThe PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console worldwide with 325,988 consoles sold for the week ending April 11, according to VGChartz estimates. The release of Final Fantasy VII Remake helped to double the sales of the console week-on-week.
The Nintendo Switch hit with severe shortages was the second best-selling console with sales of 147,832 consoles sold, followed by the Xbox One with 47,191 units, and the Nintendo 3DS with 4,431 units.
PS4 sales compared to the same week a year ago are up 122,529 units (60.22%). Switch sales are down 62,203 units (-29.62%), the Xbox One is down 2,020 units (-4.10%) and the 3DS is down 21,371 units (-82.83%).

Kinda looks like Switch and PS4 switched sales numbers this week.
switch lite dealt with the shortages during the pandemic crisis these previous weeks, but didn't stand a long time untill it went its self in shortages. Seriously, it's quite believable that there's no more physical copies of the switch in Europe, and people are selling it at 800-900 euros. The hardware sales for this week are logic.

Wow the shortages hit far harder and faster than I thought for the Switch, and it might hit even harder since Nintendo isn't shipping more consoles to Japan in the future. This might create artificial demand since humans have a tendency to suddenly want stuff they can't have, but this could definitely affect Switch sales short term for the time being.
