Capcom announced not long ago that a live action Hollywood film based on the Mega Man IP was in the works. The publisher has now revealed that a film based on the Monster Hunter IP is in production.

The director of the Resident Evil film series Paul W. S. Anderson will write and director the Monster Hunter film. Constantin Films will produce the movie and Toho will distribute it in Japan.

Monster Hunter: World has shipped over 10 million units worldwide as of August 20, while the entire series of games has sold over 50 million units.

Hopefully it will be as accurate to the series... and feature the human space marines invading the moon of Rathalos and their war against the Great Jaggi Empire.

This is actually pretty old news. His wife, milla jovovich, who played the character of Alice in his resident evil movies, will also be in this, along with martial arts actor, tony ja, of the ong-bak franchise, and Ron Perlman of the hellboy movies.

It will be filmed in South Africa. Filming has already begun.

It's time to stop.

Just like the Resident Evil live action movies, this will probably have very little to do with the actual video games.

Sounds like another disaster at the box office

Because of the popularity of the brand and giant monster movies in Asia, I could see this making a lot of money. Now the overall quality of the movie is another story entirely.

They made like 8 of them that collectively made a lot of money though the "final chapter" bombed in the US and was only saved by ridiculously high ticket sales in China.

I would not be suprised if China saved these movies. However the critics have a very different view altogether. This director must be cheap so i guess Capcon dont want to spend too much on this movie.

"This director must be cheap so I guess Capcom doesn't want to spend too much on this movie." Which doesn't make sense to me. Monster Hunter has potential, especially if competent people craft it. Anderson is a really bad choice.

@StriderKiwi Unfortunately that seems to be the case with this movie. MH has huge potential but it seems Capcom is playing it safe with it finically by hiring someone that probably isn't that expensive and wont hurt Capcoms budgets.

Whats with this obsession of making everything into a live action movie? Just because a game or anime is good doesn't mean it will make a good a movie.

I expect it to be as bad as the Assassin's Creed movie. The only videogame movie that I've liked is the Warcraft movie.
