The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in April 2017. The gap in the latest month shrunk by 13,608 units and by 395,740 units in the last 12 months. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lead by a combined 21.00 million units.
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in their first 44 months have sold a combined 66.62 million units, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 87.62 million units.

So PS3+360 have sold 173m so far... To surpass that we would need at least 100m for the PS4 and 73m for the X1. I'm confident the PS4 can reach that number, but I'm not too sure about the X1. Maybe the Scorpio can do the trick?
PS4+XOne > PS3+X360 because in this gen there isn't a console as Wii
