Starbound Set to Leave Early Access With Next Update - News
by Jared Katz , posted on 04 April 2016 / 3,542 ViewsIt’s been over two years since Starbound first publicly launched via Steam Early Access, but it seems developer Chucklefish Games is almost ready to officially launch the title that many had pegged as the next Terraria.
Chucklefish Games has announced that the next update - which has no release date at present - will officially push Starbound into version 1.0.

This updated version of the game will include a completed story arc (previous versions of the game only allowed players to complete some of the game’s story) and new features, such as multi-biomed worlds, extra dungeons, and the ability to create a star crew. You can read more about the new features here.

I wish you could invite other people to your single-player world, just a simple invite, no ip address and such. Especially when you want a more personal experience with friends and family. I don't find the prospect of running a server every time a game comes out particularly enthralling. Yes, I'm lazy.
Been enjoying it since it's Dec 2013 release. The last beefy update was also quite nice to tinker with as well, though I'll likely be waiting for the last scheduled update after the 1.0 version as beforehand they had 3 big updates planned and so far we've had one and 1.0 being the second big patch. Awesome game though, I totally recommend people give it a shot.
