Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. These charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.
Wii U Vs. PlayStation Vita Global:
Gap change in latest month: 308,566 – Wii U
Gap change over last 12 months: 841,668 – Wii U
Total Lead: 1,143,112 – PSV
Wii U Total Sales: 11,243,204
PSV Total Sales: 12,386,316
In the latest month the Wii U closed the gap when compared to the PlayStation Vita by 308,566 units. In the last 12 months the Wii U has closed the gap by a total of 841,668 units. The PlayStation Vita currently leads by 1.14 million units.
The PlayStation Vita first launched in December 2011, while the Wii U launched in November 2012. The PlayStation Vita has sold 12.39 million units to-date while the Wii U has sold 11.24 million units.

The holidays are here,the vita will lose the lead soon
Holidays aren't gonna be enough. As WiiU will slow down again in two or tree weeks, Vita will take 2million lead again until the ned of next year whenHolidays make it look like WiiU will come ahead.. have been like this last two years.
Demon, the vita is overtracked by about a million, so 2 million over wiiu? Lol, ok. I guess you can go ahead and slap another million that doesn't exist, why not.
Overtracked? Where's proof of that? If anytime NPD announce official numbers VGChartz correct Vita's selll numbers up way. This year that have hapenned twice already.
Wii U will close the gap during holydays, and it has a slim chance to surpass the Vita before Zelda U arrives. After the release of Zelda U, the WiiU will probably be replaced quickly, and the Vita will get back the lead (unless it's discontinued before that).
I think Pokkén will do the trick to surpass Vita before Zelda U releases :v

Can't believe WiiU hasn't passed the Vita yet with like 20x more the support
The 2 biggest reasons are:
1) Japan is the "Land of Handhelds"
2) Europe loves Sony, and only Sony.
I I don't like the use of that argument but when the weekly and general situation of sales behooves that, I'm doing it! PSV was released almost a year earlier than wii u... Also, wii u had a pretty poor first year, while for psv was great!
Then things were reversed...
3rd party support on the Vita is probably still better than it is for the Wii-U today tho.
Wiiu had some big hits this year, Mario Maker, Splatoon and Xenoblade, but it doesn't have nor more support nor more titles releases... Only better first party support, as SONY already let alone Vita with only Japanese devs for Asian market and smaller publishers and devs on West.
WiiU will win in the end :)
I'm not so sure. Vita will lead going into 2016 and if the NX comes out next year and replaces the Wii U the vita will win.

The ps4 vs wii is no contest, the wii blows it away. The Ds vs ps4? Lol. Why bother.
I wouldn't be too sure about the former.
The PS4's 3rd November actually beat the Wii's 3rd November.
And with the lineup it has going on next year, it could eclipse what the Wii did in 2009.
And besides, we always here Sony bragging about how the PS4 is their fastest selling system ever, and PlayStation fans boasting about how it's going to top the PS2. Well the DS is the closest thing to PS2 we've got in terms of sales. So that's why I suggested to comparison.
If the PS4 can top the DS, than it can at least match the PS2.
We don't have people here claiming the PS4 will outsell the PS2. Sure there was a handful of users that said that early on in the gen, but not anymore. You make it sound like there are a lot of PS fans expecting the PS4 to outsell the PS2.
I would prefer a PS4 vs X1+WiiU chart.
Did you really just say ps4 vs wii is a no contest? The ps4 will outsell the Wii. You forget how much the Wii sales tanked.
If the ds has 2 more years of life,it would have sold at least 170mill hardware but its a shame that Nintendo hardware lasts 5-6 years,the wii will also have the same situation if it lasted longer

The Wii sales plummeted so no it wouldn't have gotten much higher if it had longer.
