In the Wii's 3rd year, it sold 21 million.
I think the PS4 can top that in its 3rd year, depending on how many units Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV (if it does come out next year), the next COD, Last Guardian, and all of the other big titles it has coming next year..... Damn the PS4 is going to be an absolute monster next year!

Considering the momentum and PlayStation's leg, the PS4 has a very good shot at taking Wii

Interesting. Hopefully the PS4 doesn't fall off later.

With the games coming to PS4 next year nobody in the world can stop it from destroying this chart, I expect the Wii will not stay ahead.

Very nice for a true videogame console vs a gimmicky videogame console.

OMG... the PS4 won't beat the Wii. This is 2015, people now gaming more on PC and smartphone than ever. Back then we don't even have smartphone and PC gaming wasnt as mainstream as of today. Time change people... but then again, the fact that the PS4 sold 30 millions without their flagship games aka Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo just proved the Force is indeed very strong with PlayStation!
Next year is gonna be very interesting.

Um. PC gaming, while it generates more revenue, mostly does so through a handful of PC exclusives that are designed to drain your wallet through microtransactions. And it also dominates the eSports scene, mostly because the only games people play that seriously are those same games that generate the previously mentioned revenue. However, eSports is still niche. Mainstream gaming is determined by the AAA titles, of which PC misses out on 15%. If it's not a console exclusive, there’s still a chance it just won't appear on PC. So most attention is given to consoles, and gaming is associated with a gamepad as is icon. And smart phone gaming, while popular, will never be the platform that real gamers want it to be- only time wasters for casuals.

I agree. Those PlayStation systems generally have a long life even after their next console comes out like the PS2 for example.

what are you comparing it to? the PS2 was by far an anomaly in terms of longevity, no Playstation console has some close to maintaining sales like it did for practically a whole decade

Dunno, probably the PS1? Or the PS3. PS3's still sell, and the last PS1 game came out in the same year the PS3 dis, soooo....
