Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. These charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

 

Xbox One Vs. Xbox 360 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 300,674 – X360

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,251,356 – XOne

Total Lead: 2,545,751 - XOne

Xbox One Total Sales: 14,447,945

Xbox 360 Total Sales: 11,902,194

September 2015 is the 23rd month of Xbox One availability and the gap decreased during the month when compared to the Xbox 360’s 23rd month on sale by 300,674 units in favor of the Xbox 360. The Xbox One currently leads by a total of 2.55 million units.

Both consoles launched in November. The Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. The Xbox One has sold 14.45 million units in its first 23 months, while its predecessor the Xbox 360 sold 11.90 million units.

The Xbox One may not be as successful as the PS4, but at least it's selling better than the Xbox 360 within the same time frame.

Yep, that's why MS has turned its focus to just ignoring the "Who's #1", as they know that will never be a positions they are in in this generation. Better to keep growing the brand and hope to do even better next gen.

Dat Halo 3 effect, Xbox One will take those numbers back thanks to Halo 5 :)

Yes the X360 closed the gap because of Halo 3. However, in the later time span for X1 the gap will probably be gone when the compared to the Kinect effect. That's when X1 will sell lower overall than X360.

Worth pointing out by the end of this year the PS4 will have outsold the PS3 and Xbox 360, combined for the same 26 month period. Let that sink in for a moment, combined ❗❗❗
