PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Global Lifetime Sales – September 2015 Update - PS4 26.49M, Xbox One 14.45M, Wii U 10.53M - Sales

Welcome to the latest edition of the ‘PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U Worldwide’ article. This series compares the monthly and lifetime sales of the 8th generation of home consoles - the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U.

 

Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in September 2015 we can see how the PlayStation 4 continues to grow its already substantial lead over the Xbox One and Wii U. The Xbox One in turn is slowly increasing its lead over the Wii U.

The PlayStation 4 passed the 26 million mark and the Xbox One passed the 14 million mark in September. The PS4 has sold 26.49 million units lifetime, the Xbox One 14.45 million units, and the Wii U 10.53 million units.

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 26,491,949

Xbox One Total Sales: 14,447,945

Wii U Total Sales: 10,530,245

 

The PlayStation 4 has outsold both the Xbox One and Wii U every month since it launched in November 2013. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U in August for the 15th straight month. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 575,733 units for the month and the Wii U by 850,441 units. The Xbox One outsold the Wii U by 274,708 units.

When you compare monthly sales to a year ago the Wii U is up, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are down. The PlayStation 4 is down 674,887 units, the Xbox One is down 300,759 units, and the Wii U is up 47,892 units.

PlayStation 4 Monthly Sales: 1,099,431

Xbox One Monthly Sales: 523,698

Wii U Monthly Sales: 248,990

The Wii U beat the PS4 and Xbox One to the market by a year. The Wii U launched in November 2012, while the PS4 and Xbox One launched in November 2013.
