UK Developers Shift Away From Mobile to PC - News

UK video game developers have started to shift away from producing mobile games to developing PC games, according to a report released by TIGA.
48 percent of developers primarily developed games for mobile platforms in 2014, down from 49 percent in 2013. This is the first decline for mobile development in four years. On the other hand the number of developers focused on PC games increased to 37 percent, up from 34 percent.
Console development is the primary focus of just 13 percent of developers, down from 16 percent. However, that 13 percent tends to cover the largest developers in the UK (the 13 percent accounts for the employment of 50 percent of overall development staff).
"While mobile remains the most popular platform for UK games studios, the tide of popularity for mobile and tablet games development ebbed slightly in 2014. The proportion of UK development studios focused primarily on this category slipped from 49 per cent in 2013 to 48 per cent in 2014 after four years of solid growth," said TIGA CEO Dr. Richard Wilson.
