How long did Wii take to fall off, 5 years? 4?

About 5. Really, it sold quite well till the Wii U was released. I think it was above 10 million till 2012.

Vgchartz numbers
2006-3 million
2007-16.5 million
2008-24 million
2009-21 million
2010-17 million
2011-11.5 million
2012-5 million
2013-2 million

It actually had a pretty normal sales curve and didn't fall off a cliff like many people claim, PS3/360 were just late bloomers and had extremely late peaks which makes it seem like Wii died quickly.

After 2010 the Wii went into free fall.

Shorter than that. It's sales early were so good that even in the last 5 years the PS3 and 360 outsold it every year but just couldn't catch up.

it never really fell off. It was outselling the Wii U even after it's launch :-)

This is definitely the most interesting gap chart race. I'll be watching this every month.

We'll have to wait until Wii's 2011 sales drop comes into effect to see a real change in this race. After that PS4 will likely pull ahead and we'll have to compare it to PS2, which by that point won't even be a contest.

Unless VR really takes off, I don't see PS4 ever catching up. I think that its sales are going to be a bit more frontloaded than the PS3 and XBox 360.

Things are going to get very interesting over the next 18 months. PS4 has PlayStation Vue rolling out across the US, and PlayStation Now spreading across the rest of the world. Then Project Morphues hits next year. Along with all of that is a price cut, a hardware revision, and Uncharted and Gran Turismo. This should keep the race very competitive.

all depends on the American market, if microsoft will react or not, like xmas. PS4 dont sell more because of x1 sales at winter

PS4 is fighting hard. Even then Wii was too much of a beast.
