Sony had exclusive rights for marketing Destiny, as well some exclusive content. The partnership has paid off as the game has pushed PlayStation 4 sales to its biggest week in 2014, according to Adam Boyes the vice president of developer and publisher relations at Sony Computer Entertainment of America.

"From everyone at PlayStation, we want to say thank you to the fans – none of this would be possible without you! If you’re like me you have been up until the wee hours of the morning playing ‘just one more match’ with your Fireteam," said Boyes.

Gamers have played the game more than 11 million since its launch on the PlayStation 4 in North America. The game was also the "most shared and most broadcasted PS4 game during its first week on sale."
