PS4 vs Xbox One - Pre-Order Totals to August 24th 2013 - News

VGChartz has gathered the pre-order numbers for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The latest data is up to the week ending August 24, 2013. This includes the week of Gamescom, which set a record for biggest gaming trade show in Europe with more than 340,000 visitors. The pre-order numbers are for the US only and give an estimate how each console is doing about three months before release.

Up until the week ending August 24 the PlayStation 4 currently leads in the total number of pre-orders in the US with about 600,000. This is up significantly since E3 where there were only 75,000 pre-orders. The Xbox One is still  lagging behind with 350,000 pre-orders. This is also way up since E3 where there were only 45,000 pre-orders.

Total PS4 software pre orders = 1,216,365
Total XBO software pre orders = 811,295.
PS4 above XBO by 405,070 or 50%.

Total top 5 PS4 software pre orders = 987,717.
Total top 5 XBO software pre orders = 590,382.
PS4 above XBO top 5 software pre orders by 397,335, or 67%.

PS4 hardware preorders increased 700% since E3.
XBO hardware preorders increased 677% since E3.

Since the XBO 180, the gap between PS4 and XBO hardware preorder increased 4% in PS4 favor.

This is USA only, Sony cant ask for more than that.

Wait, where has the previous pre-order article gone? That had PS4 games like BF4, Ghosts, Watch Dogs at around 150k.

Well made. It's interesting to see that exclusivewise, Killzone has more hype then the top 3 One exclusives combined. However outside of Killzone, PS4 isn't offering much that's hyped.

Going to be a crazy November, I think PS4 and One will start off with a bang, last gen was too long, and PS4/One prices are fairly reasonable.

Rombie.com is still taking preorders for the PS4 and Xbox One, seems to be sold out everywere else. Preordered mine through them. They are shipping on release to!

I wish I could trust any VCG pre-order numbers... they are even more of a blind guess than the weekly numbers.

Destiny and Titanfall pre-orders will likely boom after the holidays. I think most people are just focused on the launch games right now. People aren;t buying a new console now, to wait for a game for 6-12 months.
