by William D'Angelo , posted on 10 May 2012 / 13,390 Views

Xbox Live's Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, has announced that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has broken a sales record for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game has sold more units in its first 24 hours on Xbox live than any other game. No exact number was given but Hryb did say "there are over 400,000 people playing…so that will give you an idea at how well it is doing."

Mojang CEO and Founder Markus "Notch" Persson Tweeted that the game made a profit within an hour of release. "Saw the official sales numbers for the first 24 hours of Minecraft Xbox 360, and it's very, very good. Profitable in an hour."

They did an amazing job on the port, it plays perfectly on the 360. Now hopefully they keep it updated often so users keep getting new content.

What would be awesome is if the Yogbox can make a migration over. The mods in that make Minecraft so much deeper. You get a lot more creatures, things to mine, an improved interface, and also villages you can help develop.

that's just insane. Trials Evo was already massive. Now Minecraft will be another million seller for XBLA.

Port is done very well, it looks sharp and has a rocksolid framerate. Nice HUD as well. The addition of splitscreen is very cool. Now VGChartz needs to add this game to the database damnit.

I'm sure it will sell even more once Microsoft creates an "Indie Bundle" with it. heh heh

Props to Mojang and "Notch", I'm surprised it beat Trial: Evolution. Also, Props to MS for another profitable venture with XBLA.

I wonder what game like flower, Journey and Infamous festival of blood actually sold on PSN? Or what they would have sold had they been on XBLA...
