Geometry Wars 2 Breaks Every Record We Have!

It's a very good week if you work at Bizzarre...

With first day numbers in, Geometry Wars 2 has sold incredibly well. Although we haven't tracked first day sales very long officially, I can say for certain that Geometry Wars 2 is well above any other title we've tracked since November, when I started the charts.

The closest game for comparison would be 'Rez HD' which sold roughly 10,000 units en-route to a 25,000 weekend - the highest since the charts started.

Furthermore, using initial projections, we can determine that Geometry Wars 2 is going to absolutely blow away any other record we have. Even using the lowest multipliers possible, it will track above 40,000 units, and could even break 50,000 if it managed to continue to sell well. It would be safe to say that Geometry Wars 2 will break most every record we have, in short order. N+ will most likely be in danger, as Geometry Wars 2 could manage 150,000-200,000 in it's first month on the market. But time will tell exactly what kind of staying power it has in the face of the other blockbusters coming out.

In other news:

1942: Joint Strike did very well, selling an extra 12,700 units in 5 days. This brings it's cume up to 32,500 units in 8 days, and tracking to sell around 36,500 in the 10-day frame.
Soul Calibur had a huge drop from last week, as it looks to sell around 3,800 units this week - a 55% drop from last week. Soul Calibur looks to end up with just above 61,000 units in its first month, which would land it at #8 in the All Time First Month chart - Just below Metal Slug 3.
N+ had a slight dropoff from last week. I tracked this one due to the new map pack that launched, which sent N+ sales up quite a bit.
Golf: Tee It Up! had a killer drop from last week - droping 10,000 units (-75.2%). This is horrible, but it has had a very strong run thus far, and many games suffer massive drops on their 3rd or 4th week.
Go! Go! Break Steady will most likely be unchanged for next week, similarly to 1942.
Coffeetime Crosswords is poised to have a big dropoff, shedding around 70% of last week's total. I will go out on a limb and say that Coffeetime Crosswords won't beat #49 Shrek-N-Roll for 2nd worst game on XBLA in terms of sales (first month).

Next Week's Release: Braid

There has been some arguing and rumors about the price of Braid. It sounds like it will be 800 MSP, instead of the rumored 1200 MSP.

Hey stickball, there's already over 40k people on the Deadlines leader boards. Is it possible with popular more casual oriented games like this, that using gamercards may not give you the most accurate representation of sales for some games? Due to the fact you have to be online to download these games, almost everybody who bought it has registered in the leader boards and I can't imagine there would be more than 1,000 people who already have multiple accounts for the game. Doesn't this mean around 40k people have already bought this?

erikers - If CC is indeed $20, then I don't think it will beat GeoW2 in terms of units. Revenue? Most likely.

Fantastic game...deserves to be massive and will have crazy legs...I ended up playing the Pacifism/King modes for way too long last night...It's one of the worst cases of "just one more go" i've encountered :)

Told you Geometry Wars 2 would end up being the highest selling legit title eventually. You still think castle cashers is going to beat it when there's a good possibility the game will in fact be at least 20 dollars?

Of course it's worth buying if you have the old one. That one had one mode for 5 bucks, this one has 6 modes for 10 bucks. The leader boards are implemented great on this game too. This is a no brainer if you enjoyed the first one.

Is Geo Wars 2 worth buying if you own the first one. I played it a shed load to get the 1 milliion points achievement and Im thinking the achievments (and more importantly the challenges that they lay down) and supporting the developers are the reasons swaying me towards buying it.

Any thoughts?
