Great game, it's a pity that it sold much less than it should. The best Zelda-like game I've ever played.
Matt_182 (on 07 May 2012)
Okami deserves to have sold much more than what it did. This game is amazing.
man-bear-pig (on 05 February 2012)
Who would've thought, eh?
man-bear-pig (on 05 February 2012)
So this is where Montana hatchets avi comes from!
Venox2008 (on 14 January 2012)
I am little glad glad that at least it outsold PS2 version more than twice, but still it's not enough for such a great and beutiful game like this
Faxanadu (on 01 January 2012)
20k? Oh please.
Faxanadu (on 19 October 2011)
what is so hard about tracking European sales on this game?
Sonicfan1200 (on 25 September 2011)
this game sux
Fededx (on 23 July 2011)
Loved the game, sold better than the PS2 version but it wasn't enough I guess... It deserved better sales, at least 2 millions...
spurgeonryan (on 02 July 2011)
Sold really good I think. If they were sad about the PS2 version this should have made them much happier. Too bad it did not sell more thoough still....
MrT-Tar (on 30 June 2011)
I love this game and am glad that it is selling well, even without European sales
Venox2008 (on 21 May 2011)
one of the best games ever made
Yamaneko22 (on 14 April 2011)
Love this game!
Ahro (on 01 April 2011)
Glad to see this game is still selling. Hoping with the release of Okamiden people will check out the original.
Fededx (on 01 April 2011)
Glad to see it's still selling :)
Mad55 (on 31 March 2011)
wow nice sales for amerias
Boutros (on 26 March 2011)
Ugh didn't like.
AngryAztec (on 19 March 2011)
I love this game but the gameplay is sometimes text-based. Meaning that you can't do much until you 'speak' to people or spirits, etc. Thus it limits exploration. This is what makes it different from Zeelda, where you really don't have to speak to anyone to explore areas. But over all its an amazing game.
Galvanizer (on 05 January 2011)
Voltaire (on 23 December 2010)
The game launched in EMEAA BEFORE piracy was a major issue, so i expect quite a bit more than 100k in that region. Im guessing some .65million WW (Wii only of course)
Reconnection (on 20 December 2010)
Deserves to sell more... really underrated game.
Fededx (on 09 December 2010)
Should be around 500 k with EMEAA
Arfen (on 12 November 2010)
wow more than 4k this week. glad to see it's still selling, but i wonder how are the sales in EMEAA..
Fededx (on 08 November 2010)
How many copies did it sell in EMEAA? Hope it broke the 500k mark :)
KillerJawz (on 06 May 2010)
This game really deserves far far more sales then it actually has, 800k at least imo ;__;.
Venox2008 (on 01 May 2010)
One of the best games EVER created, loved the art style, colors and very good story and gameplay, I can reccomend it to adventure or RPG fans..Yes, the beggining is a boring, but later I could stop playing..Now I've finished it 2 times, and will be 3rd, someday..
p.s. can't wait for Okamiden too!!! :)
lightningsouls (on 22 April 2010)
Okami Satisfy my Zelda Hunger last year, Indeed is a grear game
I cannot wiat to play Okamiden!
Vas-y (on 05 March 2010)
@ Salnax
Nice try but recheck the sales of Okami on the PS2 on this site and you may recognise something.
Salnax (on 25 February 2010)
"Mr Harcore Gamer, why did Okami only sell 0.15 million on the PS2?"
"It was because it was a niche game and had an unusual art style."
"Why did Okami sell only sell 0.30 million on the Wii?"
Lerrachim (on 30 January 2010)
Great game! I enjoyed it more than Zelda. I wish the sequel would be for Wii, too :(
nintendo_fanboy (on 22 January 2010)
these numbers aren't that bad as I used to think I see now, with european sales it is probably over 400k at least.
BigGumby (on 10 January 2010)
Good for a PS2 port. I couldn't really get into it though
RyuZebian (on 05 January 2010)
... I got this for christmas. For a couple of days it stole more than 50 % of my time awake. I finished it last night. And I'm about to give it more of my time!!!
spurgeonryan (on 22 December 2009)
THis is getting a new push this christmas. a couple store chains have ordered many new copies. THe army px is one of them.
Chrizum (on 27 November 2009)
The game's definitely past 350k worldwide by now.

Not bad for a PS2 port.
Sommernacht (on 26 November 2009)
If Kotaku is right, then (according to Capcom) Okami sold 280,000 copies in North America & Europe (news is dating back to July 30th 2008).
Source: http://kotaku.com/5031280/okami-on-wii-didnt-do-so-well

Can we get the PAL sales please?
Gintoki (on 03 November 2009)
Can't wait for Okamiden.
DOLBYdigital (on 30 October 2009)
So happy this game is still getting attention! Even though the sales are dropping off, every sale is another happy gamer :)

Hope for a Wii sequel produced by Platinum Games.... hey I can dream ;)
oni-link (on 27 October 2009)
@ chris

don't worry Japan will screw this up again and end with 30-45K sales lifetime. So this game sold better on Wii than it did on PS2; Capcom must be happy as indicated with a sequel coming to a Nintendo console only!!!
chris_wing (on 26 October 2009)
Strong start in Japan! Why did it take so long to be released in Japen?
Tayne (on 26 October 2009)
So, how about those Others sales?
Arfen (on 26 October 2009)
Now that this game is live again is time to put Others sales to view how good or bad this game is doing really
ash3336 (on 24 October 2009)
An opening week of around 80k(including Others) of a port is already enough profit for Capcom.
Chrizum (on 24 October 2009)
I think final shipments will be around 450k. That must be a healthy profit for Capcom really.
Faxanadu (on 23 October 2009)
@Hardcore: Okami is readily available in Europe. Go get it from Amazon.
Tuulikk (on 23 October 2009)
@ joora - I agree. I just hope the numbers for Others will come soon as Okami looks more like a disaster with sales then it really is.
dark_gh0st_b0y (on 22 October 2009)
nice to see this game finally selling something respectable!
joora (on 22 October 2009)
I think it could climb to gold eventually (when they put europe sales, game is released in europe a while ago)
Kihniö (on 22 October 2009)
I got my own piece in Sweden a year ago..!
IxisNaugus (on 22 October 2009)
@ Hardcoregamer1989It has been released at least in some places of Europe. I got my fresh copy a while ago for a pretty cheap price.

In other news. Apparently this sold 25,080 copies in japan from october 12 to 18th

Hardcoregamer1989 (on 21 October 2009)
i don't think this game is released anywhere in Europe yet, i cant find it :(
Kihniö (on 19 October 2009)
Does anyone know the Famitsu review?? How much Okami got?
Cheebee (on 19 October 2009)
So now it's out in Japan, and STILL no sales numbers for Others? What's up with that?
spurgeonryan (on 16 October 2009)
This just came out in japan? well that is great, maybe more games that just come out in america should come out there as well as others and sales would be better? can we say 100,000 plus in japan? Im happy for the Wii and the game.
J.U.N.O (on 16 October 2009)
Anybody has any idea how much this made in Europe?
Faxanadu (on 16 October 2009)
Very nice preliminary number for first day in Japan. Might eventually hit 500k, which is really good.
Falk Sturmfels (on 16 October 2009)
I think this game could be around 400.000 worldwide know. With the surprising start in Japan it could climb up to half a million.
Well, not that bad.
mfogg20 (on 16 October 2009)
19k first day in japan!! Should do about 25,000 - 30,000
Chrizum (on 12 October 2009)
About 12k first week I reckon.
Faxanadu (on 12 October 2009)
Lets see how Japan does next week.
SaviorX (on 09 October 2009)
Cheebee (on 09 October 2009)
Hey where are Europe's sales? :s
Just now noticed they're missing, why? Others sales should be quite substantial.
Ah well, even without them, it's easily outsold the PS2 version, which released to an install base of what, 120 million? :)
vonboysp (on 09 October 2009)
not much really.

but every little bit counts.
Vas-y (on 09 October 2009)
So, what do you expect from Japan?
DOLBYdigital (on 06 October 2009)
If these are Wii only and US only numbers and it isn't overtracked then this isn't that bad at all. Surely the game deserves sales in the millions but this is at least respectable. Glad to see it releasing in JPN again since the Wiimote controls really help the gameplay imo. Such a great experience!
Soma (on 24 September 2009)
Just bought it to a friend, in 200 pesos ($15) :)
clapiotis (on 21 September 2009)
where is europe?
jessegatepoo (on 11 September 2009)
what about the sales in other places apart from the US. It was realeased in Australia, why don't they have those sales.
Arkk (on 05 September 2009)
I really couldn't get into this game but the release of info for Okamiden has made me take a look at it once again. I hope I can get through it this time without losing interest. Also, I wish we could know what the sales really are. Is it really releasing in Japan next month?? Why so late?
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 02 September 2009)
These aren't very bad sales. I guess good word of mouth really helped it. I hope it'll do well in Japan too, though it'll probably do worse than the PS2-version did, sadly :/ But hey, any little helps.
joora (on 29 August 2009)
Just finished it. 40 hours of pure joy and awesomness. A reccomendation to every gamer who likes RPGs and/or Japan mythology and/or Japan art and/or great games.

Why no EU sales, it's been out for a while now?
RedInker (on 28 August 2009)
Just got mine from game for £4.98. Bargain!
Asriel (on 05 August 2009)
Yeah, you can count at least one European sale for my copy of it....
Faxanadu (on 23 July 2009)
when will we see European Sales?
DOLBYdigital (on 20 July 2009)
Yeah this game does have a slow start mainly because the story is actually good so they have it start slow and it builds and ramps up to an excellent experience.

This is one of those games that I suggest for everyone to at least experience. So good and so underlooked
Skorpion (on 06 July 2009)
Just started playing it again after buying it months ago and only spending an hour and a half on it. Liking it a lot more than I did when I started.
Faxanadu (on 23 June 2009)
@Yanlukmak: People in Italy do play it. Check out the Nintendo Channel - it is listed with # of users...
Faxanadu (on 23 June 2009)
when is Europe data coming in?
chrono_kazumi (on 08 June 2009)
v this game port was released in Europe as well...
robond (on 02 June 2009)
This game port was only released on US.
xbebop (on 28 May 2009)
+1 US Sales a few months ago. lol
naruto3336 (on 13 May 2009)
Sales must be good with Others considering it is a port despite a good port.
intro94 (on 11 May 2009)
one of the best games ever(according the ign, gamespot and..well metacritics give it a 93 out of 100).but sales dont have to do with quality.
Yanlukmac (on 04 May 2009)
I never seen it in italian shelves....
marcoberry3 (on 04 May 2009)
will this get released in Japan? and will we ever get EU numbers?

dark_gh0st_b0y (on 17 April 2009)
it's not bad, much better than expected!
naruto3336 (on 11 April 2009)
@ DOLBYdigital

it might be a good action adventure or the best action adventure to you but not everyone. I think No More Heroes was a good Action Adventure. The best Action Adventure according to me is Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess.
Cobretti2 (on 09 April 2009)
no europe or japan numbers?
ksv (on 06 April 2009)
undertracked? Capcom's financial statement said 280 000 sold for Wii
DOLBYdigital (on 06 April 2009)
Amazing game that DOES deserve attention of true gamers. If you like action adventure games then this is one of the best. That's all that needs to be said ;)
Valkyria00 (on 03 April 2009)
This game "deserves" nothing. I hate when people say a game deserves to sell.I got the game and holy shit what a disappointment. The controls suck and the visuals are NOT impressive.
Bad game imo.
BoneArk (on 29 March 2009)
I just got the game and looks really amazing on my new 37" tv.
stof (on 25 March 2009)
Don't cry sizynski. Here's the good news.

BoneArk (on 23 March 2009)
I goin' to pick up this game tomorrow, can't wait.
joora (on 21 March 2009)
This game is amazing, it easily deserves 2m instead 200k sales
sizynski (on 21 March 2009)
I cry every time I come to this page. Sad state of affairs right here. Should have sold twice as much.
*~Onna76~* (on 19 March 2009)
Best adventure out there, so get it morrons! Sorry to say this but I hate it that people ignore amazing games like this. If you're such a Zelda fan you can't miss Okami, its such a great game, if not, better!
DOLBYdigital (on 14 March 2009)
If this game is only 20 bucks new then I would strongly urge anyone looking for an amazing adventure game to buy it. I will admit that the beginning is a little slow but it turns into a beautiful game in all aspects.
Mojo (on 12 March 2009)
This is an absolutely incredible game. It's such a shame that most wii owners have missed it. Well worth the buy if you can still find it, especially for $20.
MANUELF (on 03 March 2009)
I dont know if buy it or not, I saw it new for $20
metalgearmatt (on 28 February 2009)
This is wrong. Capcom just stated that this didn't sell anywhere near the PS2 version.
Son1x (on 27 February 2009)
Finaly started playing it. I like it so far. Brushing seems interesting.
BoneArk (on 26 February 2009)
I think I will buy this game when I pick up MadWorld. Its only $19.99.
Baldulf (on 20 February 2009)

Smeags (on 18 February 2009)
*raises eyebrow at Faxanadu*
Faxanadu (on 10 February 2009)
It seemed such a nice game in the beginning. Sadly, the carrot digging mini game ruined it for me. Havent touched it since then.
Chrizum (on 10 February 2009)
Overtracked in America by about 30k according to Capcom: http://wii.ign.com/articles/952/952652p1.html
Cheebee (on 31 January 2009)
What? It's not out in Japan yet? That makes no sense whatsoever.. :s At all.
Omega_Phazon_Pirate. (on 27 January 2009)
This version needs a Japanese release date. Also I was reading that apparently this version sould about 280 K combining American and European release.
OmegaRugalv3 (on 27 January 2009)
It has far too much text imho. And a bit too much weirdness.

When the action actually starts, its awesome. But no way is it better than Zelda TP.
Son1x (on 25 January 2009)
+1 for European sales :)
Got this yesterday.
Cheebee (on 24 January 2009)
I recently got this. It's fricking amazing!
TWRoO (on 24 January 2009)
Bought this today for £12 at ASDA.... bargain.
KylieDog (on 22 January 2009)
Finally got around to ordering it today, I knew I'd pick it up during a new release draught.
Sommernacht (on 21 January 2009)
Any information about European sales? And has it not been released in Japan yet?
It is really a pity that this game hasn't received any attention at all...
Yes, it is just a remake (without a lot of new features...) but still an excellent game.
And yes, it reminded me of Zelda, but that is not a bad thing. And let's not forget that it was released even before Twilight Princess with the whole Wolf-plot-thing.
DOLBYdigital (on 18 January 2009)
Words cannot describe how much I love this game. The controls are much better than the original and really add to the experience. Along with the gorgeous graphics getting a nice update as well ;)

Platinum games should think about making a pseudo sequel but Im just glad it got this updated release.
VivaLaWiida (on 15 January 2009)
Why are there no European sales?
MontanaHatchet (on 08 January 2009)
I'm glad to see that both the Vgchartz community and about 200k American consumers have bought and enjoyed this game. Thanks guys :-)
Lord_Yggdrassil (on 06 January 2009)
This game was regarded by many as being better than Zelda:TP. I agree and it's criminal how much it has sold.
paulkelly1980 (on 06 January 2009)
It is down to perception I suppose but I’m a huge Zelda fan and I could not get past the similarities. But okami is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played
Voltaire (on 04 January 2009)
Ive beat and loved this this game twice, and i never thought of Zelda while playing it........this sounds weird.
paulkelly1980 (on 04 January 2009)
I could noy get into this game. a poor mans zelda
Vas-y (on 04 January 2009)
Am I the only one who didn't think even one minute of Zelda when playing Okami? o_o

Anyway, this game is awesome, one of the best game I've ever played in my entire life, just love it :).
OmegaRugalv3 (on 04 January 2009)
Well finally beat every major title that I wanted to beat this holiday season ... had time to pick something new for the Wii.

Played this for 3 hours ... can't say I am really feeling the game. It is like a bizarro world version of Zelda.

I hope it gets better cuz so far it just seems like a ton of text.
appolose (on 02 January 2009)
Good to see this game back on the "Most Popular Games" list :p
Daileon (on 27 December 2008)
8k this week? Nice. This must be around 300k units, not bad.
uno (on 24 December 2008)
i just picked this up for 35 bones!!!

Good times!
Voltaire (on 13 December 2008)
Capcom said the Wii #s (some 350,000) were WW, while the ps2 300,000 were NA only. They said the Wii version hasnt outsold the ps2 version, but they gave no #s for ps2 WW, so i doubt its a significant difference.
jtb666 (on 12 December 2008)
Onna76, the 0.15m for the PS2 version are for Japan only. I'm sure the Wii version has sold less than the PS2 one WW.
*~Onna76~* (on 11 December 2008)
Wow Wii version sells now more than the PS2 version! I'm playing it now, the Wii version and have to say that the controls are much better than the PS2 version. Get this game I want a sequel!!!
MarioGalaxy (on 10 December 2008)
Hello everyone!
I've a quastion about this game. I really want to buy it but I can't get it here in Europe (Spain for more information). Someone knows if it's out of stock or something?
Smeags (on 09 December 2008)
Well, that's it. It's the end of 2008 and 2009 is quickly approaching.

Still though, if one game changed my gaming experience for the better this year, it was definitely Okami. And that is why Okami is my Game of the Year. :-)
Voltaire (on 29 November 2008)
AFter seeing someone post somthing about life changeing, i just want to add that, at the end of the game, it made me seriously reconsider my religious believes (or lack of). Of course once i turned off the game i was back to normal, but yeah, thats how impressive the game is.
Kihniö (on 28 November 2008)
Finished yesterday..One the best games i have played.
Pure awesome
novasonic (on 27 November 2008)
Buy this game now!! It is amazing and it will change your life for the better!

That's right
sebbbbe (on 06 November 2008)
Capcom said today that the Wii version sold 300,000 copies.
210,000 in USA and 90,000 in Europe
Roma (on 02 November 2008)
lol why isn’t there any data for it in Japan and Europe? The game has released there so why no data?
cinetici (on 22 October 2008)
too bad this game isn't selling well. Shame! Is there any release dates for europe and japan?
SaviorX (on 18 October 2008)

If that is true, by now it would actually be at 300k, like Voltaire said. Which is good because that means it outsold the PS2 version.

The problem is, how will the 300k be distributed? I'm guessing 165k/135k (Amer./EU).
Voltaire (on 17 October 2008)
Ill say the Wii versions got about 300K by now. Couple that with the 150k ps2 version, and thats plenty. Its more than enough for that sequel everyones been wanting.
Kenology (on 28 September 2008)
As of 7/30/08, Capcom said that Okami sold 280k between the U.S. and Europe. So no tellin' where this game is at now.

AkiraGr (on 12 September 2008)
Capcom are a bunch of losers. They shut down Clover Studios, they don't released a new viewtiful Joe ,they craped on Okami for wii.

Platinum Games deserves all the attention from now on,screw Capcom.
Smeags (on 07 September 2008)
What's this? .12 million? Good to see... Now I want to see Others sales and see it go up to .15 million! :-P (:-()

EdEN (on 11 August 2008)
Just got my copy at Comic-Con (along with the seed-recicled paper thank you note). Hopefully the game will sell above 350,000 total between all regions since it really is a great game that came too late on the PS2's life cycle and hasn't been getting too much publicity right now.

Theres been online ads from here in oz. Where are the others region numbers?? specifically australia?
Zucas (on 05 August 2008)
Yea 280,000 shipments ain't bad considering Capcom said they weren't looking for much. I mean seriously this could have been a big seller on Wii if the PR had cared.
Aidman (on 05 August 2008)
Great game and really deserves to be a Million seller at least for the PS2.
Smeags (on 04 August 2008)
Yes, that must be it...
Faxanadu (on 04 August 2008)
it sells bad cause you have to digg for carrots in that one mindless minigame.

This slightly undertracked. I'd say around 120k in US and maybe 35k in EU.
ElRhodeo (on 30 July 2008)
Bought it and played an hour or so. Unfortunately, the German translation is horrible, again. Completely kills the mood with out-of-place language and phrasing. I think I'll give the English version a try.

Capcom has it 280k shipped..

Xiaomay: We did get PAL sales which were quickly removed (for some reason). They were embarrassingly low anyways (both weeks under 10k).

Faxanadu: Meh, I think you know yourself how wrong you truly are.
XiaoMay (on 16 July 2008)
so WHEN will we get European sells ???
Faxanadu (on 16 July 2008)
stupid carrot digging game. lost interest in this game. shit tasks to artifically prolong the game. really sad.

almost as bad as the riding minigame in Zelda TP
MontanaHatchet (on 09 July 2008)
Now you folks know what you have been missing out on. Go to TheSource's wall and convince him to buy Okami.
-gr00ve- (on 07 July 2008)
This game really shines. Played it this weekend for about 6 hours. Can't wait to come back from work and play another part of it.
Faxanadu (on 07 July 2008)
An awesome game. finally had the time this weekend to play a bit - now almost 10 hrs into the game and it is truly fantastic.

Defnitely walks all over Twilight Princess - its not even close.

The game made me wanna revisist Japan soon.
MontanaHatchet (on 05 July 2008)
We actually did have Others numbers tracked for a bit, but it seemed like the sales have been removed from the charts.
Voltaire (on 05 July 2008)
Well, those average games had marketing. And why dont we have the other sale # yet? Its drizing me crazy.
Hoffmole (on 05 July 2008)
Hey, I was bemoaning Mario+Sonic, Army of Two etc for being average rather than awful. It's frustrating that average games sell better than a true classic and I guess I got a little carried away with my ranting! Sorry!
MontanaHatchet (on 03 July 2008)
Mario & Sonic and Army of Two aren't horrible games, just slightly below average. Haze is the game that truly deserves to flop and it did.

Thank you, however.
Hoffmole (on 03 July 2008)
PS, only one good thing will come of this. I'm gonna buy 20 copies of this game and make top dollar on e-bay in 10 years time! The general public should be shot for crimes against art. I hope you choke on the mediocrity of Haze, Mario & Sonic, Army of Two et al, morons. So depressing.
Hoffmole (on 03 July 2008)
Well, my posts on this page have given a decent record of a cynical, aging video-game fan momentarily having a little faith restored. Montana, I salute you. The sales of this game have cemented my disillusionment with a medium that I once understood and loved. Now I feel so lost and alone in an unfamiliar digital hell.
Blacksaber (on 02 July 2008)
Got It love it also lol I see the IGN mark....
cebrian (on 02 July 2008)
this game should just be renamed The legend of Zelda: the celestial brush and sell ten times fold. It's a great game, and for a reduced price you cant go wrong, it is also obvious the influence zelda had on this game, not that that is a bad thing at all ;P
MontanaHatchet (on 01 July 2008)

Now you guys know why I've praised this game, and the ultimate failure your fellow Wii owners have presented to me.

I would like to thank those who bought and enjoyed this game. For those who didn't, you were given two opportunities to buy this and if you didn't you blew it.
Hoffmole (on 30 June 2008)
Aw man! I really thought it was going to end! I was so scared! This is the best game I've played for decades!
Teoulas (on 30 June 2008)
Come on, people, show it some love! I think it's even better than Twilight Princess!
blackbird3216 (on 29 June 2008)
Yay! Im the hundreth owner
Zornica (on 29 June 2008)
it sells bad because there isn´t any advertisement
MontanaHatchet (on 28 June 2008)
Wait, who's surprised?
Declan (on 27 June 2008)
There was never an advert on telly for either version - how, then, can its commercial failure be a surprise?
MontanaHatchet (on 27 June 2008)
Thanks guys, I knew you wouldn't let me down!
Chrizum (on 25 June 2008)
There's some kind of curse hanging over this game. It's unexplainable how this game could sell THIS bad, PS2 version included.
perculator (on 24 June 2008)
Still has a chance of selling well, the holiday season may turn out to be its best selling time period
Hoffmole (on 23 June 2008)
This is probably the best game on the Wii, why is nobody buying it? I missed it on PS2, bought it last week and it could turn out to be better than Galaxy (my other favourite Wii game so far.) Simply awesome, and the controls work better than a lot of reviewers would have you believe.
Oyvoyvoyv (on 21 June 2008)
Whoa, this is out in Europe already? I haven't seen it in stores.
Voltaire (on 19 June 2008)
what about Japn? Its not getting released there?
Hyperion (on 18 June 2008)
Capcom, the game may not have sold as well as the original, but that was expected. I don't understand why the game wasn't successful on both PS2 and Wii.

Even if the saels are just ok, having Okami released on Wii gave me a chance to play the masterpiece, and for that I thank you, Capcom.
MontanaHatchet (on 17 June 2008)
Dude, Okami may not have done very well on the PS2, but it did worse on the Wii. In the end, sales come down to userbase.
Darkeagle (on 16 June 2008)
what about europe and japan? in europe the game is already out. i want europe sales :(
Vas-y (on 16 June 2008)
I'm asking myself if the translators were drunk or so. The german translation is awful! There are so many spelling mistakes at the very beginning that I've decided to chose english. Very disappointing.
dude17761991hatp (on 14 June 2008)
Tis a shame, at least no one can blame the lack of hardcore Wii owners what with the poor showing on PS2.
Shissy (on 13 June 2008)
So glad I convinced myself to buy this game. I love it more than Twilight Princess.
Faxanadu (on 11 June 2008)
@Vas-y: Amazon updated the release date to 6th of June at some point. Then they changed it back to 13th of June....
WiiBox3 (on 04 June 2008)
Kind of funny how they put the 1up review score sticker over the top of the Play review score.
WiiBox3 (on 04 June 2008)
A couple hours in and I'm loving this game. Though the initial opening was slow. Don't get me wrong I love for a game to have a great storyline, but I prefer if it is more broken down into pieces instead of like reading a book at the beginning of the game.

After the opening this game is very surprisingly fun. The Z button definitely helps with drawing straight lines.
Vas-y (on 02 June 2008)
Ok, I found statements denying the fact that Okami will be released on 6th June. Damn -_-.
Vas-y (on 02 June 2008)
Well, at least Wiiz.fr and many other european inofficial sites are saying that Okami will be released a week earlier. If that's not the case, well, bad journalism.
MontanaHatchet (on 02 June 2008)
Nope, 13th of June.
Vas-y (on 01 June 2008)
Okami will be released on 5th June in Europe. I'm looking forward to it :).
MontanaHatchet (on 01 June 2008)
So far a release date for Japan hasn't been announced and as for Europe, it clearly says so on this page.

And I don't expect much from Europe for this. They treated the last Okami like a stray cat and it will likely be the same with this version, sadly.
J.U.N.O (on 29 May 2008)
When is this released in Europe and Japan?
thetonestarr (on 29 May 2008)
How does this game prove anything? It hasn't even released in two of the three regions!
dvarca1231 (on 29 May 2008)
I suppose next its going to be that they were proving the Wii had bad sales because of Zack and Wiki. Capcom isn't going to just outright quit making games for the best selling console. They need to make games and market them correctly

Not every game can sell like the port of RE4 did or games like Carnival Games. Which by the way I see commercials for that game all the time...and surprise its sales have boosted and started to show legs
dvarca1231 (on 29 May 2008)
Onimusha...where is the link showing the quotes of the Capcom execs stating they were testing Wii sales based on these games, sounds like bullshit to me.

They didn't expect Okami to sell well, there was no advertising behind it other than ads on video game websites - they even said they weren't going to advertise it on TV.

I've heard these comments before "Capcom is testing the water" I haven't seen anything backing up those statements other than peoples speculations.
jpelles (on 29 May 2008)
I think it's a matter of opinion. This game is the definitive version. Especially since most people who disagree didn't even realize you can hold z to make the game draw a straight line. I think their opinion is pretty meaningless.

I played through the PS2 game when it first launched and have to say the controls are more natural and better on the Wii as are the graphics in 480p and true widescreen for the first time.

As for the credits I agree but find it to be a pretty minor thing.
Onimusha12 (on 28 May 2008)
This port sadly get's what it deserves. If you're going to release a port of a game two years after the original that isn't the definitive version then what incentive is there to buy that version? There's no reason they couldn't have offered an alternate control scheme using the Classic Controller or included the credits. Instead of offering what the PS2 version had and more this port merely just offered a compromise.

Capcom made the right choice in choosing Okami to try and prove games don't sell on the Wii. I'm sure they were a bit miff'd to see Umbrella Chronicles do so well (notice how they said Umbrella Chronicles was going to be the final test for the Wii, then after its success suddenly the said, oh Okami is the next test).
SaviorX (on 24 May 2008)
I think Okami could sell at least 25k in a 5-week time frame in Others. By that time, it would probably be at 140k worldwide.
MontanaHatchet (on 23 May 2008)
Uhh, Peetee, Japan is more casual than ever...
dvarca1231 (on 23 May 2008)
I can complain about 90,000 copies because its sales are dropping fast, without good legs this game isn't going any where. And its sad because its such an amazing game and its a game that deserves to be franchised. But it doesn't matter anyways - I'm not sure if I'd want Ready at Dawn to make a sequel to this since the original creators moved on to make Platinum Games and team with Sega
peetee (on 23 May 2008)
Sales are allright

Japan will love this game.
Leni (on 22 May 2008)
it's selling great!
PhatLaosBoi (on 17 May 2008)
i can't believe how great this game is.
Sherlock99 (on 16 May 2008)
90,000 copies sold in only 4 weeks is great i don't understand how anyone can complain about those numbers there great
MontanaHatchet (on 16 May 2008)
Europe is going to acknowledge this game like a man will acknowledge himself not knowing where to drive.

In other words, it's going to flop in Europe. It happened with the original Okami.
Leni (on 16 May 2008)
it's not that bad, after it's released in Europe it's sales are going to be ok (i hope)
MeowTheMouse (on 14 May 2008)
pffffffff what a shame :(
kopstudent89 (on 14 May 2008)
yeah huge drop off, and sales readjusted... hope it has good legs at least
Crystalchild (on 10 May 2008)
a lot of people dont know this game, thats why its so low selled...
and look at Zelda wind waker... same graphics, and both are adventures ... "its possible" to sell more, but Capcom needs TV spots... or something like this.
Levi (on 09 May 2008)
I really hope the sales pick up the game is a masterpiece thats for sure.
r4in (on 09 May 2008)
I am actually looking at this one. I dropped the hint to my wife for a birthday present. I'm currently losing my life to Mario Kart so this will have to wait but it surely has my eye.
thetonestarr (on 08 May 2008)
At this rate, it'll at least match the PS2 version in sales.
sizynski (on 07 May 2008)
Wow, a drop off of 0.6%. I'm surprised.

These are really good sales. I hope that they continue.
MontanaHatchet (on 06 May 2008)
Considering the humongous Wii sales, I expected higher sales for the third week.

Yup, I'm hard to please.
robond (on 06 May 2008)
Beautiful game, I didn´t have the chance to play it on the PS2 but now I´m going for it on the Wii. :)
Nice sales.
Faxanadu (on 06 May 2008)
100 K after 3 weeks. I think this will get to 500K WW. Gold for Montana!
Leni (on 06 May 2008)
well, it's doing well!! :)
exnoctem (on 05 May 2008)
Looks like this one might have some legs... I sure hope so, it really deserves it.
sizynski (on 05 May 2008)
73K after two weeks. That's a strong opening.

The more I look at the release schedules, the more I think Okami is going to get strangled by competition. I'd expect no more than 15K next week with the combined impact of Mario Kart and GTA 4.

Still holding out hope for 500K worldwide.
MANUELF (on 04 May 2008)
and Brawl in June 27?
famousringo (on 30 April 2008)
European release dated for June 13.

That's only six weeks away. Plenty of time for EU Wii gamers to burn out on Kart and Fit and save up a little money. ;)
perculator (on 25 April 2008)
I hope a sequel comes out soon
sizynski (on 25 April 2008)
Second week guesses?

I'll go with 32k.
ZenfoldorVGI (on 24 April 2008)
These sales are higher than I expected in Week 1, and I'm expecting this game to continue as a moderate success.
MontanaHatchet (on 24 April 2008)
Very sell said, itap.

And yes Segajon, we can only hope that this will have legs. Like Amaterasu, its grace will stretch across the American charts and defeat the evil of shovelware, one demon at a time.

Only, Okami...
itap08 (on 23 April 2008)
This game is simply amazing. Any self-respecting Wii owner needs to get this. Seriously, it is a must play.
segajon (on 23 April 2008)
don't worry it will have legs
ctk495 (on 22 April 2008)
Poor Okami why can't people give this game some love?
ctk495 (on 22 April 2008)
Poor Okami why can't people give this game so love?
cloudstain (on 22 April 2008)
This seems like a pretty good first week. How did it sell on PS2?
MontanaHatchet (on 22 April 2008)
So, Brawl's opening week in the states was more than twice that of Galaxy's. Thus, we can say that Brawl will sell more than twice as much as Galaxy.

I guess all Wii games have the exact same scale based entirely on their opening week.

Dang, I need to write this down!
MontanaHatchet (on 22 April 2008)
There are no plans for a Japanese release at the moment.
11ht11 (on 22 April 2008)
is it going to be released in japan?
Onimusha12 (on 22 April 2008)
Of course mind you we only have the numbers of Okami PS2 in Japan.
Onimusha12 (on 22 April 2008)
Zack & Wiki had an opening week of half of this and if we assume it at least has the same legs as Zack & Wiki we could easily see this reach 600k in its lifetime.
rudyrsr8 (on 22 April 2008)
I bought it, and am about to start in a little while now.
Explosivo (on 22 April 2008)
Sold a third of what the PS2 version did LTD in one week. That's impressive, let's hope it has some legs.
Faxanadu (on 22 April 2008)
when is Japan launch?
--OkeyDokey-- (on 22 April 2008)

Whitecum101 (on 21 April 2008)
good sales it said to see clover get shut down
Zucas (on 21 April 2008)
Not a bad opener.
famousringo (on 21 April 2008)
Look at that, OkeyDokey, NA launch is right on average. ;)
dvarca1231 (on 21 April 2008)
A decent start for it, I hope it shows some wolf legs...hahaha
DarkNight_DS (on 19 April 2008)
I got my copy on Thursday... the thing that will hurt sales this week is the fact that most places didn't get it in on Wednesday or Tuesday as per the norm.
amp316 (on 19 April 2008)
Putting 9.5 on the cover was a very smart idea. People will pick it up because they'll know that it's good and not be guessing about it. So far I am loving this game.
Onimusha12 (on 18 April 2008)
This is a purchase for the Wii you won't regret.
sizynski (on 17 April 2008)
What is with all of these "Is it going to sell?" questions? Of course it's going to sell well! For example, let's take a recently released Wii game expected to be a sales disaster...

No More Heroes
40,000 First Week
260,000 LTD
M Rated

T Rated

And Okami is a known commodity upon release since it is a port. And the reviews (as the box art is quick to point out) are overwhelmingly positive.

My estimates...

65,000 First Week US
300k US
230k UK
170k Japan

Somewhere between 700k and 1 million for it's lifetime depending on how strong the legs/word of mouth is amongst gamers.
Hyperion (on 17 April 2008)
This game is epic! Such a gret adventure game. I'm off to play it again. =)
wiinintendo307 (on 17 April 2008)
i got it, and i am loving the game! I hope this sells!

--OkeyDokey-- (on 17 April 2008)
Looks like a lot of people will be dissapointed when the charts come in.
I lol at the predictions league average of 46k.
That means there's a few sane people and a disturbing amount of nutters expecting it to do 80k +.
loadedstatement (on 16 April 2008)
Hope this sells 500k.
MeowTheMouse (on 16 April 2008)
i dont think it will sell.. but i certainly hope so !
famousringo (on 16 April 2008)
Got mine at lunch.

It's gonna be a loooong work day.
OLOW (on 14 April 2008)
It got a 9.0 on IGN. It's lookin good : D
MontanaHatchet (on 14 April 2008)
That's much better Okeydokey. It can't be bad, it's twice as much!
Hyperion (on 14 April 2008)
Buying it Wednesday. Can't wait to experience the world of Okami for the first time. Hope it doesn't dissapoint.
--OkeyDokey-- (on 13 April 2008)
Prediction: 20k first week in America.

Is that better?
kopstudent89 (on 13 April 2008)
Well if Montana says soo:P
MontanaHatchet (on 13 April 2008)
Get it!!!!!
RCTjunkie (on 12 April 2008)
I wonder if I should get this.
MontanaHatchet (on 12 April 2008)
I hope this game sells!!!

Oh yeah, I typed this comment to get Naznatips' stupid comment off the page lol.
Explosivo (on 12 April 2008)
Lets hope this games sells!
Faxanadu (on 12 April 2008)
as soon as i see it, i will own it.
Kihniö (on 12 April 2008)
Joshjosh..you should buy Wii version..Read the Ign review about it.

I`m really starting to wait this game.As a fan of Zelda series, it`s starts to interest me..
If you copy something why don`t copy the best
joshjosh (on 11 April 2008)
Game looks very good but I can't decide to buy PS2 or Wii one.
NintendoMan (on 07 April 2008)
always choose okami, i am so stoked for this game
sc94597 (on 30 March 2008)
Oooh pretty. I want this game.
11ht11 (on 30 March 2008)
i cant decide okami or metroid prime 3. what would you chose?
Explosivo (on 28 March 2008)
Will this be sold at full price?
Is there anymore content than the PS2-version?
thetonestarr (on 14 March 2008)
Daggonnit! Brawl, this, and Mario Kart all out within two months. How the heck am I going to afford all of this?!?
oliist (on 14 March 2008)
@Man To add a game to your collection before its release is OK for me.I WILL buy it no matter what.To rate a game before anyone could lay his hands on it is where i see the problem.
Okami may be a special case because it is a remake, but nevertheless one should only rate games that he/she/it actually has played.
--OkeyDokey-- (on 14 March 2008)
Hi MontanaHatchet
BengaBenga (on 14 March 2008)
Ok: (But just because it's you Montana)

Sorry, once I'm going I can't stop.

Will buy this day 1.
Man (on 14 March 2008)
Wow i wanna be friends with the 3 people who already own this game. How did they get the game a month before its released? They must have some serious contacts :D
MontanaHatchet (on 17 February 2008)
^Don't make me come over here!

Okay, to sum it up, the PS2 version got IGN's Game of the Year. So yeah, it owns you.
11ht11 (on 16 February 2008)
i never played the ps2 one, but im thinking of getting it, by the comments here i guess it a good game, am i right?
MontanaHatchet (on 15 February 2008)
^Is it any good?

supermario128 (on 15 February 2008)
So should I buy this game, is it any good.
MontanaHatchet (on 15 February 2008)
Game of the Year 2008.

Say it with me, gents!
highwaystar101 (on 15 February 2008)
So okami is good... right?
naznatips (on 15 February 2008)
Wow, the new boxart is gorgeous. Far better than the PS2 boxart. I may have to rebuy this game just to have the better boxart haha.
Riot Of The Blood (on 15 February 2008)
It seems like Capcom does nothing but makes AAA games.
Man (on 15 February 2008)
its got better box art than the ps2..maybe thats why its rated higher, since thats all weve really got to go on so far...

Faxanadu (on 14 February 2008)
nice, rated much better than the PS2 version on this site. guess it has to do with all the additional content, the new controls and 480p.

just joking
Oyvoyvoyv (on 14 February 2008)
Sorry Parokki, I already heard it from another guy :(
StarcraftManiac (on 14 February 2008)
Nah, it's tied with Z:TP for GoTY2006. Okami will be one of the better Wii-games this year. But not anywhere close to GoTY. That award is for SSB:Brawl, GTA4 etc...
Parokki (on 24 November 2007)
GOTY 2008. You heard it from me first.
