I liked the game, but didn't really feel like finishing it. Maybe a sequel on XBone would make me finish it.

There is a Player who don't play a co-op game, new CoD or Destiny.
There is no genre more cleverly than jRPG.
There is a SAGE game with deep Philosophy inside...
The Player who appreciated the unique world.
Still playing a co-op game? Believe me, you're not a wise guy. NOT AT ALL.

the reason why this didn't sell in Japan is because the girl to the right looks strange as hell

japs are very weird and if it isn't "cute" they will not buy
Mr Puggsly (on 20 September 2012)
This should have been bundled with every 360 in Japan. One of the best JRPGs ever created in my opinion.
crissindahouse (on 22 April 2012)
still have to play it, a friend of mine said it's really good
Metroid33slayer (on 20 January 2012)
Can't decide which game was better out of this and blue dragon they were both really good games. I do remember this game having very beautiful music like most jrpg,s.
lurkerwithnosoul (on 31 October 2011)
Because this was published by Microsoft. Why are you complaining? If anything, you just complain at Sony for not publishing games like these, instead of those "FPS" made for freaks. :p
rpgmaniac (on 24 October 2011)
WHY? WHY Sagakuchi waste this game on a console full of fps freaks? just tell me why? make a port of this game to PS3 and I bet my head u will see at least triple sales this game is not for 360 u wasted on this console and what a waste.. how many more fans could play & enjoy it if u decide back then to make it for PS3.
Iveyboi (on 03 October 2011)
Just started it and am loving it so far
yo_john117 (on 24 September 2011)
One of the best JRPG games I have played. Too bad it won't make it to 1 million.
Mordred11 (on 30 August 2011)
ok sales.
Iveyboi (on 01 August 2011)
Lol at Jazz below. Look at FF13 sales. /thread
MonstaMack (on 22 May 2011)
This title needs a reprint in the US/Games on Demand as It's harder to find these days.
lurkerwithnosoul (on 09 May 2011)
*below 1M not above 1M.
lurkerwithnosoul (on 09 May 2011)
Well, it's not like that of course. But i kinda agree with his point, and have myself some hardcore RPG fans on my Xbox Friend List. And i don't know how can this game only sell above 1M when almost everyone i know with a Xbox 360 have one copy (i even have two, one PAL and one ASIA :p). Could it be the second hand market effect?
kickazz113 (on 01 May 2011)
wow big liar below me
JazzB1987 (on 27 April 2011)
None of the jrpg fans i know have a ps3. All have a 360. Seriously most people that bought a ps3 did it because they 1.want a bluray player 2.did that because they had a ps2 not because they think about what they do. 3. because they can play online for free 4.they want the most expensive stuff even if its not the best. 5.they are fanboys. 6. other people did they so thay HAVE TO do it too. (jump out of the window ill follow you....) thats it
kivi95 (on 03 April 2011)
Why are they not devoleping games for ps3? Most of the JRPG fans are their..
pots555 (on 25 February 2011)
Wow! Just amazing game. I have not been this impressed in a long tme.
snyperdud (on 16 February 2011)
This game deserves so much more. But for a JRPG, this sold reasonably well.
revcom301 (on 27 December 2010)
Lost Odyssey is a very enjoyable game. If you loved the 'old' turn based battle style RPG's like FF7/8, you'll love this.
Tayne (on 25 December 2010)

Ld (on 10 May 2010)
I completed FFX13 and guess what!..LO is still the number jrpg on current consoles.I cannot believe how underrated this game is.This game was an absolute joy from start to finish.I hope Mistwalker announces a sequel soon. This game was the only game i can think of that constantly pulled on the heart strings(Damn that Funeral scene)
coolbeans (on 28 January 2010)
Sales can't be that stagnant for it. Has Mistwalker announced how much they've sold to retailers in any recent time?
PS360fan10 (on 24 January 2010)
Hope they make a sequal.
Adobo (on 28 December 2009)
should be 1m by now lol anyway why is there no VGchartz review on this wonderful game?
kunaixhaku (on 22 December 2009)
found it at staples $14.97 yaa finally ima enjoy this over the break!
kunaixhaku (on 17 December 2009)
it's being hurt by used sales at this point as anyone who wants this there is a higher chance of ebgames or gamestop avin it in stock but used and still costs $39.99 used in canada
nofingershaha (on 15 December 2009)
If you don't buy this game, you fail as a Human Being!!!!

blue7x7 (on 11 November 2009)
Deserves better sales. Its really hard to find a copy of this game I went to many stores to try to buy it and none of them had it eventually I had to order it online. Best jrpg this gen.

It came back in sotck at play.com, 72hours later, it was #10 top seller on the 360 and 1 week later, out of stock...

Impressive. Laybe it will be up by 10k.

"Sound we have no choice !" Epic sentence, epic game. Fav jrpg of this gen

Bagaren85 (on 10 August 2009)
At least platinum in NA. It sold very well in others also, compare to other niche genre games.
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 08 August 2009)
Too bad this game seems to have halted at 800k. Would've loved to see this fantastic game hit a million.
LordMatrix (on 08 August 2009)
Why on earth has Microsoft not given this title its rightfully earned platinum status outside of japan yet?
Lolcislaw (on 14 July 2009)
i want to get this game so badly but cant find it anywhere.
account2099 (on 30 June 2009)
bought it last week. always liked turn based jrpgs
MetalSabe (on 30 June 2009)
I started replaying this game. Loving it the second time around. Kaim is one of my favorite RPG characters ever and Jansen is awesome too.

Can't wait for the new Mistwalker title, hope it is as awesome as LO and it sells well.
invetedlotus123 (on 22 June 2009)
I just hate Adjustments, they never put games better, they just put them down...
nojustno (on 21 June 2009)
I remember when this was close to a million...damn adjustments
elzumo (on 19 June 2009)
I want #2!
snyperdud (on 17 June 2009)
Yeah, ok, I'm fucking loving it.
snyperdud (on 14 June 2009)
Just bought it today.

I hope it's as good as everyone says.
Max King of the Wild (on 25 May 2009)
I don't get it. NPD shows we massively over tracked meaning the games sales slowed alot faster than estimated it gets adjusted down but yet the game still sells at a steady rate.
ZenfoldorVGI (on 24 May 2009)

I would have LOVED this game, except the aptly name kaim is one of the worst main characters ever. If only he didn't talk, and was named Zenfoldor.
Carl2291 (on 18 May 2009)
This should have done over a Million.

More advertising would have made it so.
megaman.2. (on 09 May 2009)
be patient sales will come.
modi (on 05 May 2009)
best JRPG after FFX in last 10 years
Beoulve (on 03 May 2009)
along with mass effect, this is my favourite game this generation
Beoulve (on 01 May 2009)

This isn't kiddy.
TyePhoid_PAL (on 30 April 2009)
Is it really good? Like almost FF good? I may give this a go as long as its not as kiddy as so4?. I like the idea of him being an immortal
kowenicki (on 27 April 2009)

How this game has not sold a couple of million is beyond me.
ShadowSoldier (on 14 April 2009)
Damn the one game that is actually making me reconsider a 360
dsister44 (on 12 April 2009)
i have the preorder code if anybody wants it. just im me if you want it
andrewclear (on 10 April 2009)
ok..blue dragon was in 2nd, bust has been overtaken by Last Remnant

andrewclear (on 10 April 2009)
yeah, this is the best selling JRPG of this gen. Blue Dragon is in 2nd.
MontanaHatchet (on 09 April 2009)

This is all of the Americas, and I've never heard of Japanese RPGs being especially popular in Latin America.

Also, the weekly sales are sub-1k. Cool beans.
invetedlotus123 (on 29 March 2009)
Maybe they are considering only the US sales, for America, with hope with Latin America sales it has reached a million since jRPG is a strong genre by here.
Lord_Yggdrassil (on 29 March 2009)
Isn't this the best selling JRPG this gen? Very good. Sequel would do 1 Million i reckon.
NinjaOmega (on 27 March 2009)
What there goes a million JRPG on the 360:( ah well great RPG for the 360 a must own
shanezx (on 26 March 2009)
nooooo adjusted down :(
Egghead (on 26 March 2009)
This still sold nicely, and so did Blue Dragon
snyperdud (on 25 March 2009)
adjusted down.

it's a shame.
mrstickball (on 24 March 2009)
Dang it. Brett hacked off a lot of sales after NPD stated that LO only sold 380k in the US. :-\

Oh well, given the other info, it seems that LO sold better than a lot of JRPGs - even from the PS2 library.
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 23 March 2009)
Goddamnit. I was really hoping this would hit 1 million. Seems unlikely now :/
Soriku (on 22 March 2009)
This sucks, game looks worthy of 1 mil sales...

And I guess I better listen to outlawauron now that all JRPGs have been overtracked...
Bitmap Frogs (on 22 March 2009)
Good numbers > platform affections.
Max King of the Wild (on 22 March 2009)
not too sure if this will be first million jrpg anymore
badgenome (on 22 March 2009)
Massively adjusted down... again.
Conjurock (on 17 March 2009)
this is the best epic j-rpg after final fantasy 10 for me. Its story is great not super but great but storytelling is absolutly wonderful. I hope more will come from sakaguchi
ACEtheVAMPIRE (on 11 March 2009)
Bitmap Frogs
Cry on was AQ' game, not Microsoft'
Bitmap Frogs (on 10 March 2009)
Because Microsoft cancelled funding for the Gooch's third game (Cry On) and we haven't heard anything from them in a while; besides the Blue Dragon DS games.
d21lewis (on 09 March 2009)
I just bought this game. I hear it's pretty amazing!!
andrewclear (on 08 March 2009)
"Bitmap Frogs posted 06/02/2009, 06:37
Ironically, I'd rather play Blue Dragon 2 than Lost Odyssey 2; and while both sequels are unlikely to happen if anything, the most likely to happen is LO2 =/
Message | Report"

Why would you think that both are unlikely to happen? There are only 3 guarenteed, million dollar selling JRPG franchises (FF, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest)...Lost Odyssey had great sales, and a sequel is definitely doing to happen.

Blue Dragon had good sales as well, but who knows if they are just gonna stay on the DS with that series, or try another 360 title (atm, another title is in the works, and it's more of a true sequel to BD, for the DS).

Hell, even Last Remnant should make it over 1 million with the PC and PS3 sales, making it likely for a sequel as well.

Mistwalker would be stupid to not make sequels, considering how many more RPG gamers have picked up a 360 since their first two games were released.

I also applaud Mistwalker, and Namco Bandai for starting the process of making the 360 the current gen home of the RPG (although, the wii will probably take that spot in a few years).
Bitmap Frogs (on 27 February 2009)
It's alive!

It might make it to one million afterall!
dsister44 (on 22 February 2009)
come on it needs to beat so4 to a million it deserves it
sonyfanatic (on 20 February 2009)
Stop selling let the last remnant pass you lolz

awesome game btw
ROBOTECHHEAVEN (on 18 February 2009)
best rpg this gen and the best in a very long time.
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 18 February 2009)
I really think this game should get a sequel. I loved this game. And I sure hope it hits a million soon (which it most likely will, eventually).
MetalSabe (on 15 February 2009)
The games best was disc three, I think it got significantly better after D1.
Skeeuk (on 13 February 2009)
i slogged myself to finish it, got to final grand staff, then couldnt be bothered past the coloured saints.

watched the rest on youtube.
nomorehalo (on 13 February 2009)
The game took a major hit once the first disc finished. I can imagine that was the point when Sakiguchi handed the rest off to the team. A shame; this really could've been Xbox 360's FFX.
MetalSabe (on 07 February 2009)
Wasn't a blue dragon sequel already announced? Not mentioning the several DS fallow ups.
Bitmap Frogs (on 06 February 2009)
Ironically, I'd rather play Blue Dragon 2 than Lost Odyssey 2; and while both sequels are unlikely to happen if anything, the most likely to happen is LO2 =/
Undying (on 05 February 2009)
Just 110k more!! Come on LO!!
nojustno (on 02 February 2009)
on its way to 1 million!
MetalSabe (on 29 January 2009)
.89m, totally crawling its way up there. Will reach a million this year.

Kaim is still immortal at the end of the game, he tells Sarah something like "lets try for another millennium".

I would totally be up for a Lost Odyssey sequel, I was sad when the game ended and I couldn't play anymore. I think it would be interesting to see how Jansen and Ming's marriage goes.
kuddles (on 25 January 2009)
The game can have a sequel even if there's no reason for it from a story standpoint. A lot of JRPG series, like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tales, etc. have games that take place in the same universe but have little relation to each other storywise.

Even if they wanted to connect them somehow it would be easy, since Kaim is immortal. (I think, it's been so long since I beat it, I forget if their immortality was taken from them at the end.) Set it a couple centuries in the future, and some new evil threat is around that brings him out of retirement.
scottsdone (on 23 January 2009)

MLD: No, I don't think so. Maybe for Seth and Gongora though, since Seth pushed them back into their own world.. And I don't think they've ever shown or explained anything about their world.. So it might be possible for them to be allies in a second game, but I doubt it. Hopefully they just continue to use the name.
Chris Hu (on 19 January 2009)
Now that it's $29.99US I think it will sell over 1mil eventually.
MLD-Ghost (on 19 January 2009)
i havent beat this....but based on the games ending.....is a LO 2 possible from a story standpoint?
striderhiryu (on 18 January 2009)
AND now it's just been put at -

29.99 retail!!! you have no excuse to not own Lost Odyssey!
striderhiryu (on 18 January 2009)
I just finished Lost Odyssey, and it smokes from beginning to end! It's now one of my all time favorite rpgs.

It's up there with Ninja Gaiden Black, Sigma, and II as my all time favorite games!

I'm also a big fan of xbox live arcade.... I'm really impressed with what they've done with the xbox arcade games on there.....
TacoBoy49 (on 18 January 2009)
Not bad for a jrpg that's published by Microsoft!! Ironic.
Cueil (on 15 January 2009)
The actual game play a characters are not that much above average it's those small touches of back story that you get through the dreams that make this game so great... some of those dreams were heart wrenching.
MetalSabe (on 14 January 2009)
Man, it's really getting there. :)
dsister44 (on 11 January 2009)
i absoluetly love this game everybody go buy this game now it is totally worht the $40
klendathu (on 08 January 2009)
amazing game, haven't played any jrpg before that. I hope sakaguchi san gives us LO 2 :)

KillerMan (on 06 January 2009)

This and Valkyria Chronicles are currently tied for a spot in my heart as the best JRPG this gen.

Good to see its still selling, million eventually for sure.
Nightmare24 (on 31 December 2008)
Currently the greatest JRPG this gen, great sales hope it hits a million.
andrewclear (on 29 December 2008)
Too bad they canned CryOn on Christmas Eve :(

Can't wait for more Mist Walker titles, I really enjoyed Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey was the best RPG I've played since Final Fantasy X.
Egghead (on 27 December 2008)
Youre right, 1 million is indeed becoming a reality now, but it stands as a testament that JRPGs this gen can sell.

Two more weeks of holiday sales to go, it can at least reach 900k.
TyePhoid_PAL (on 26 December 2008)
Really want play this.
Picko (on 26 December 2008)
Another week and a bit of inflated sales should see this hit .88 or .89 million so one million is becoming a reality.
Gabriel84 (on 24 December 2008)
9.99 in UK now
Kaim_90 (on 21 December 2008)
Immense masterpiece !
Hope it reach soon the million .

Seece (on 12 December 2008)
850k by the end of the year! should hit 1 mill eventually, don't think it will be the first JRPG to reach 1 mill.
piggychan (on 12 December 2008)
It's still selling about 10k a week .. O-o
Space Warrior (on 07 December 2008)
800k ! Hope it will reach the million.
Mistwalker has done an amazing RPG which is the most mature in my opinion with the story line, characters and true emotions.
I just hope Microsoft will continue to support the studio and not only counting on Square-Enix RPG.
We want news about Cry On and Lost Odyssey 2 !
MetalSabe (on 07 December 2008)

ACEtheVAMPIRE (on 04 December 2008)
piggychan (on 04 December 2008)
oo its at 800k again!!

Ganbare LO :P
Egghead (on 01 December 2008)
MS know this game is important, its one of the reasons why Japanese devs have much more confidence in the 360

Also, MS know they need every JRPG they can get, and given this sold well, i dont see any reason as to why they wont continue the franchise
kuddles (on 29 November 2008)
I hope MS sees this as a success. It's a non-Square-published JRPG on the most Western-based console, plus it received mixed reviews and not much of a marketing push and was released during the traditionally slowest month of game sales.

If Microsoft isn't satisfied with the results, even with everything going against this game, then I hope a different publisher picks this up, releases the original on PS3 and then funds LO2 to come out on both at the same time. Maybe then Microsoft will regret dropping the ball on this one.
MetalSabe (on 28 November 2008)
It'll totally get to a million, just got my copy this week. It's awesome!
Egghead (on 28 November 2008)
Yeah VGC adjusting it means that we know for sure that they arent over tracking it
outlawauron (on 28 November 2008)
@ bagaren

No, I think VGC was a little high when it debuted.....
shanezx (on 27 November 2008)
Its gonna take a while to get to 1 mill, but it definitly deserves well over 1million
Lord_Yggdrassil (on 27 November 2008)
790k for a NEW IP JRPG on a Western console is pretty damn impressive.
Egghead (on 24 November 2008)
Yeah LO2 will be huge, really sad that they didnt push it more in Japan by bundling it and advertising like crazy. Oh well, it still did 100k, just didnt sell many consoles
MrChi14 (on 20 November 2008)
The second Lost Odyssey game will sell way better, at least in EU/Jap. Whether the US will get a boost in sales will be seen.

This game was fantastic, a story to behold! I await more of Sakaguchi's genius storytelling (LO2 or Cry On onegaishimasu...)
xiaoG (on 20 November 2008)
It's the best RPG on Xbox360!
ACEtheVAMPIRE (on 11 November 2008)
my favorite game this gen after Mass Effect. Cant wait Lost Odyssey II
Egghead (on 08 November 2008)
At this rate itll take more than half a year, oh well, its important to see that a big budget JRPG sold well on the 360, and it sold better than a huge amount last gen. This is a good sign for SE with FF, after all, ANYTHING with FF slapped onto it will sell

Also, real shame MS didnt make the most of it in Japan
MorgZ (on 08 November 2008)
They should bundle this and BD with HD in Japan when TLR releases
Bagaren85 (on 29 October 2008)
NPD rate it higher in US, didnt they?
FaRmLaNd (on 16 October 2008)
Its still sold well. Lets hope it gets some kind of christmas boost or something.
Egghead (on 15 October 2008)
Lame that it wont hit million the time we expected it too, but at least we can see the game sold well in EU with no marketing
Egghead (on 13 October 2008)
Oh wow, what happened, this is super lame = (

Oh well, at this rate, itll take another year almost, not bad still and at least we know that we arent getting inflated numbers anymore (unless there is another adjustment ill give up on gaming this gen...)
nomorehalo (on 12 October 2008)
What was it at 850K or so? I was watching this game steadily climb from about this number and then its adjusted down!
Ligthtelos (on 09 October 2008)
a great game, and my first xbox 360 game played, a solid rpg , it sell well i hope it reach 900k by xmas
FaRmLaNd (on 05 October 2008)
Please have a christmas boost!!!
Picko (on 04 October 2008)
Seems the task just got a lot harder. Damn.
MontanaHatchet (on 04 October 2008)
This could still hit one million! It would just be...really difficult.
Bitmap Frogs (on 04 October 2008)
Waaaah! HUGE adjustment!
Majin-Tenshinhan (on 04 October 2008)
Noooo, adjusted down ;_; I was hoping to see it hit 1 mil too...
Egghead (on 02 October 2008)
Well it might get a nice boost in XMAS and then budget pricing (though this is unlikely for a long while considering the amount it costs to produce a copy)

Either way, i really really REALLY hope VGC are not over tracking as its harder to predict the lifetime sales
Undying (on 01 October 2008)
I hope it makes it to a million. This game should sell 10 million. Its so great!
nomorehalo (on 28 September 2008)
Of coarse this'll make a million it's still selling 5K a week WW and it's not even at budget price yet.
piggychan (on 28 September 2008)
I do like this game but I just wish the bosses ambition was a lot more deeper and darker.
Kaim_90 (on 27 September 2008)
Immense masterpiece .
Unforgettable .
Egghead (on 25 September 2008)
@ Riachu

Would they have not edited the numbers then?

BTW, who thinks thisll make a million one day?
MontanaHatchet (on 25 September 2008)
This is a really fun game, although the plot twists became pretty predictable after a while. The battle system is fun, and for 30 bucks, what does anyone have to lose?
Riachu (on 20 September 2008)
Actually if you compare the first month sales of the game in NPD data and the VGChartz sales, the latter is actually undertracked slightly
VGChartz First month sales:196,954
NPD First Month sales:203,600
Bitmap Frogs (on 18 September 2008)
Top50 within range!
Egghead (on 17 September 2008)
I really hope to God they arent overtracking this. This is a big sign that different games CAN sell this gen
Picko (on 07 September 2008)
I haven't seen any bundles but I only live in Australia. However, there has never really been any spikes that would be indicative of substantial bundling.
ROBOTECHHEAVEN (on 07 September 2008)
its the best rpg on the system and the best rpg i have played in quite some time. cant wait for a sequel.
Bagaren85 (on 06 September 2008)
I never seen a bundle outside japan.
Munkeh111 (on 05 September 2008)
There are several bundles, in fact, I got mine in a bundle
jpelles (on 31 August 2008)
A lot of business's sell things on Ebay. So that accounts for new sealed.

Maybe in Europe though some stores might have required bundles or something.
Bitmap Frogs (on 28 August 2008)
What do you mean? I don't think there were LO bundles at all, maybe in Japan. And even there it was sold stand-alone from day one.
Skeeuk (on 24 August 2008)
normal users on ebay are always selling this as new sealed? does it come unoficially bundled?
Bitmap Frogs (on 20 August 2008)
It's celebration time! The unexpected success of Lost Odyssey is proof jrpg's have a bright future on the platform. And if we are lucky, it might mean MS will bankroll another game from the Gooch.
Bagaren85 (on 20 August 2008)
FaRmLaNd (on 19 August 2008)
Nearly 800k! Great sales for a jrpg considering the 360's piss poor japanese install base.
Picko (on 18 August 2008)
Have just one more dungeon to go - although I will no doubt come back to it to do some further exploring and for achievements.

One of my favourite on the console, hopefully it'll make it to a million.
Munkeh111 (on 17 August 2008)
Finally finished the game! It is quite awesome, though that final cut scene was too long, my 360 controller turned off
segajon (on 15 August 2008)
it sold 6,550 this week. if it can stay above 5k a week and then get the small holiday boost i thin k it can have a chance of 1mill by mid to late '09!
RockSmith372 (on 14 August 2008)
will this make a million? it's not impossible from what i've seen
Bitmap Frogs (on 08 August 2008)
You better ignore leetgeek, he just trolls all things 360.
Riachu (on 07 August 2008)
This is a new IP. Not a FF copycat
Munkeh111 (on 07 August 2008)
Riachu (on 06 August 2008)
Lost Odyssey becomes quite addicting once you get up to Disk 3
Munkeh111 (on 06 August 2008)
I'm just on the 3rd disc now, and it has really become great, in disc 2 I did stop playing for quite some time, but I have played for like 6 solid hours today it was so good
mrstickball (on 04 August 2008)
With the full US price drop coming soon, it seems...I wonder if it can help sustain sales?

It'll be interesting to see if ToV or IU help boost sales any.
MontanaHatchet (on 03 August 2008)
This game will pull a million easily. I look forward to buying it.
ACEtheVAMPIRE (on 01 August 2008)
I hope MistWalker and Microsoft will show Cry oN on TGS 2008
and may be LO2 and BD2
Picko (on 30 July 2008)
It should do 800k pretty easily. A million isn't beyond hope, although it would obviously take a long time and require a nice holiday boost.
Strategyking92 (on 26 July 2008)
still selling. 800k is not impossible.
Bitmap Frogs (on 20 July 2008)
About to hit first page! Top 50! Wooohooo!
FaRmLaNd (on 19 July 2008)
I think by the end of the year it'll be at least at 850,000. But it all depends on how much its boosted during the holidays (if at all).
Skeeuk (on 18 July 2008)
well this game was store bundled all over the place in the uk. if it still is, it could go over 800k
Strategyking92 (on 18 July 2008)
800k I hope.
FaRmLaNd (on 11 July 2008)
Its slowing down in sales, I just hope it gets a semi-decent christmas sales boost that puts it on track to sell a million eventually.
MorgZ (on 02 July 2008)
Its going to hit 750k in the next 2 weeks! Surely thats in the breakeven / small profit range.
KillerMan (on 30 June 2008)
Great game.
scottsdone (on 26 June 2008)
Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Would love to see a LO2.
FaRmLaNd (on 23 June 2008)
Mistwalker are really making a name for themselves, if they keep their release schedule up they'll get a nice fanbase. They deserve it their games are really good.
squall747 (on 22 June 2008)
@ JiaJia Yes it is a win win situation for MS to bring great exclusive jrpg's to their system.

And don't forget this game uses the Unreal engine so it probably didn't cost as much as a lot of people think. And 700k is a respectable number for a jrpg. Best rpg this generation imo.
Snuffbox (on 22 June 2008)
I hope we see something at E3 for Cry-On (or any Mistwalker related announcement actually!)
Gearbox (on 20 June 2008)
tyhis game sucked! y do people play games with these kind of fighting styles? I HATED IT so much! how did it sell so many!

Byakko (on 09 June 2008)
@ Munkeh111

I'm not sure if South-East Asia is roped in there or not, because, in Singapore at least, I know LO has plenty of legs.

We got ours a bout a month before you guys, with English and the Japanese packaging (the most holy of possible combinations!)

As far as I know, when I bought mine AFTER it was already released in NA, I found out that the store was sold out to be left with 2 copies.

And this a month after our own local release. It was very heartening!

Plus the store-owner was playing it on his store console and HDTV at the entrance.

Btw, I do know that there quite a number of Russian fans for LO. One of my buddies is anyway, and he heads a JRPG forum site. Apparently the Russians kinda like Gongora, but I think it's because he's even more hilarious to them on some level...

Oh, and check out this French fansite (I found this from a DeviantArt post, the guy puts up his concept for the website): http://www.mistwalker.fr/

It's NOT official, it's a fansite. Real dedication to buy up a domain for a fansite!
Oemenia (on 08 June 2008)
Hardcore games sell poorly there in general, and as you said, its only big franchises that do get anything
Riachu (on 08 June 2008)
That's unfortunate. Europe will only go near JRPGs if the game is called Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. They are more into their own RPG series like the Gothic series.
Munkeh111 (on 08 June 2008)
Suprisingly low others sales
Bitmap Frogs (on 07 June 2008)
This tuesday MS has a conference in japan announcing their 2008 rpg lineup. We'll see if the around 12-20 million dollars LO has grossed is generating some traction over there.
Oemenia (on 07 June 2008)
Actually LO is VERY VERY VERY old school, so it was more Japanese. But yeah, MS need to ship units of 360 in Japan, as Japanese 360 owners are making a bigger dent on software sales, for a game like this, 100k is what could be needed to break even. Nobody says MS need millions of units there, but if its a sizeable amount that can contribute than its mission accomplished.

But yeah, BD made 360s move there, i dont know how on Earth they were silly enough not to do the same with this game, but fortunately it still managed to get 100k. As for marketing, i think it wasnt huge, youre right, and i dont ever remember seeing an ad here in the UK
Riachu (on 06 June 2008)
How would they market it better? A midnight launch? A Coca Cola commercial? An ad in Rolling Stones?

I agree, MS marketed LO better here than in Japan. This game was tailored towards western gamers rather than Japanese gamers. The sales number are good. They aren't Halo level but they are good enough to convince developers there is still an audience for turn based RPGs
mrstickball (on 06 June 2008)
Whoot! I finally am now an official owner of Lost Odyssey. I supported Mistwalker by buying a brand new copy :)

Can't wait to play this with my girlfriend.

And for reference: MS marketed Lost Odyssey "Well" but not insanely. MS didn't give a rats behind in Japan about marketing, but gave it the marketing in the US/PAL that it should of received. LO could of done more in NA/PAL with more marketing, but not much. JP could of been +100k or more if MS would of marketed it ala Blue Dragon.
charts845 (on 01 June 2008)
It wasn't "hugely" marketed, exactly. It featured a commercial that ran fairly frequently and some in-store promotion but it's not like MS created a "blow-out" event. The commercial wasn't even a specifically-created commercial, simply FMV from the game. I'd say it was marketed like the average 1st party release. The marketing definitely helped boost interest in the game but I wouldn't say it was excessive.
Oemenia (on 31 May 2008)
But the problem is, MS had to market it HUGELY in NA. But as ive said, if it creates a buzz, then other JRPGs wont need as much of a drive
Bitmap Frogs (on 29 May 2008)
700k next week and crawling up.

The best selling next-gen jrpg by far.

And people were saying the gooch lost it.

Oemenia (on 27 May 2008)
@ MontanaHatchet

Actually Square didnt give a two toss about the XBOX brand last gen, with the 360, they already have a few exclusives out and planned for the system with Last Remnant being multiplat. Not forgetting Infinite Undiscovery which again, had they not though it would sell, they probably wouldve ported onto the PS3 as soon as they got the proper dev kits

XBOX had nothing, the 360 has something, that must mean at least a bit. As ive said, Namco were confident enough to develop a number of exclusives for the 360 due to the Japanese userbase there and their confidence in the NA and EU market to further keep those titles affloat.

In fact, Tales of Vesperia, the very reason why they are going ahead and keeping it 360 exclusive is simply because of the positive reaction they got out of Eternal Sonata (80k) but also BD (250k, though that had many promotions). Yeah its going to ported eventually, but if they felt the 360 userbase wasnt enough, they couldve just delayed the game and launched it simultaneously for PS3 as well. Luckily for Namco, Tales is the third biggest RPG franchise there, if they were satisfied with 80k, imagine for an established and popular franchise? The minimum we can expect from ToV is 100k units

And no, from the looks of it, Lost Odyssey seems like to have made a profit, Namco are predicting 500k for ToV to their investors, meaning that number will not only make them break even but also pull a profit. Given that LO is at 680k, still selling strongly, and the fact shipment numbers are normally around 200-400k ahead of consumer sales, they are well into profit.
Oemenia (on 27 May 2008)
Yes but MS have easily beaten the number of units of original XBOXs sold in Japan with the 360. Japanese 360 gamers are contributing more and more to software sales with up to 100k units for the most popular games as well as Japan/hardcore orientated ones

MS are going to continue to get titles that appeal to them, because Blue Dragon DID indeed give a the console a boost there. If they can establish say a million userbase there, thats a good achievement, because again, that million will make further contributions but also, the 600k current userbase was enough for the likes of Namco to support the console with exclusive titles.

This gen is going to go a long way, both Sony and MS cant afford to upgrade when they have taken so many losses. Japan may be a lost cause, but it doesnt mean its still an important region where some benefits can be gained
Riachu (on 25 May 2008)
the 360's userbase in Japan is very small and one or two JRPGs aren't going to change that
Whictecum101 (on 25 May 2008)
what happen in Japan it should of sold more but its sold good in the US
MontanaHatchet (on 24 May 2008)
You posted it, so don't be angry at my response like you always are:

This won't tell Square anything, since it was made by their rival company (or more like an annoying bug, however you want to look at it). Also, it probably lost money, so don't expect much,
Oemenia (on 20 May 2008)
I really hope this sends Square a message, FF13 with its name and mass advertising would easily sell a million on 360. Also, i hope Last Remnant teaches them a thing or two
Picko (on 15 May 2008)
It's good to see this continuing to sell well. Will definitely get to three quarters of a million and hopefully will get to a million. It would be great to see an RPG of this type get there as it would certainly open up a new market for developers on the 360.
Bitmap Frogs (on 14 May 2008)
It's still crawling it's way up...
wareagle372 (on 13 May 2008)
i got it 3 days ago, and so far it is worth buying. It will probly get even better when i get closer to beating the game. I just got on disc 2.
Oemenia (on 13 May 2008)
My thoughts exactly, i think this is THE JRPG to get for 360 owners, and i think over time, its sales wont drop off, and with a XMAS push should hit a million
FaRmLaNd (on 11 May 2008)
No need to bundle it yet as its still selling pretty consistently.
Picko (on 07 May 2008)
A better way to get sales up would be to bundle it elsewhere ;)
wareagle372 (on 05 May 2008)
a simple way to get sales up is if Microsoft bundled this game in Japan.
Oemenia (on 04 May 2008)
Cant believe they ignored in in JAP. If sales stay at around 15k or so a week it should hit a million by the end of the year.
FaRmLaNd (on 04 May 2008)
You didn't need to find all the pieces of wood if you didn't want too.
De85 (on 04 May 2008)
Just got this game and so far am extremely pleased with it. There were a few parts that I thought disrupted the flow like Mack's torch waving mini-game and Kaim's and Cooke's flower/torch fetch quests that I would really rather not have had, but overall I feel like this is a solid game.
jpelles (on 03 May 2008)
The two atlus SRPG's coming plus Blue Dragon and this really are making it hard for me to see why JRPG fans can cling to the PS3 being the system for them.

If Microsoft does the smart thing and does a marketing plan to that effect this christmas and gives this, Mass Effect, etc.. another push then this game will definetly sell a million this year.

Failing that this game will sell a million sometime next year very easily.

That will definetly be a huge feather in the 360's hat. The first next gen million selling RPG on their system.
FaRmLaNd (on 03 May 2008)
Its still holding on. I really want this game to hit a million. Hopefully it can hit it after a nice Christmas season or something.
outlawauron (on 01 May 2008)
Yes. That was after there was a slight adjustment down.

It was around 70k off, but there was the slight editing of the legs. It should hit close to a million now.
Munkeh111 (on 28 April 2008)
NPD has it selling sell because it does not include Canada and the Americas
squall747 (on 25 April 2008)
So around 36k hmmm I guess it's no big deal either way. Btw this may sound stupid but how do you leave a score for a game? anyone?
ACEtheVAMPIRE (on 24 April 2008)
NPD is all about America, not worlwide

NPD feb - 204k
NDP mar - 67k
Total (feb+mar) - 271k

VGchatrz feb - 228k
VGchatrz mar - 79k
Total (feb+mar) - 307k

I think this is not so big difference
squall747 (on 23 April 2008)
yeah it sounds far fetched when one website says one thing and the other website says another. but it doesn't matter anyways. and i heard about that treasure trove achievement being hard. I beat the game as well but I'm only at 810 points so far. I'm currently taking a break from it.
outlawauron (on 23 April 2008)
It sounds far fetched that the NPD said LO sold 67k in March?

I own the game. I love the game. Beat and got most of the achievements (not the treasure trove though). Im not trying to bash.
squall747 (on 22 April 2008)
So dont get me wrong I support the Star Ocean franchise but not the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
squall747 (on 22 April 2008)
@ gangster gamer well I'll cut you some slack, I will probably buy Star Ocean.......maybe mediocre for that game may of been a little harsh, but I still dont believe its qualified to be called a great game. I've always compared Star Ocean with The Tales series due too their similar battle system and I played both their originals on PSOne and I always considered Tales its better in every way. And Kingdom Hearts is kinda stupid I hate the corny action battle system. And I dont like the whole Disney aspect. So lets just say I bought Kingdom Hearts 1 and that is the first & last game I will buy from that franchise.
Gangster_Gamer (on 22 April 2008)
Star Ocean is definitely not mediocre. You may just not like the battle system or something, which means you don't like it, the game itself is great though. You're the first person I've ever seen who doesn't like Kingdom Hearts, and I will agree with you on that the rest of the games are still undecided on whether or not it will be good. (yes, sadly including FFXIII) but Kingdom Hearts 3 and Star Ocean 4 definitely won't be mediocre.
squall747 (on 22 April 2008)
sounds kinda far fetched to me.
outlawauron (on 22 April 2008)
My source is NPD. The game sold 67k in March according to them.
squall747 (on 21 April 2008)
And if your a fan of Disgaea you should look into Spectral Force 3 made by Atlus its coming to the 360 next month I believe. Its a srpg too but I have my doubts whether it will be any good or not......
squall747 (on 21 April 2008)
And I'm by no means a fan boy these are my opinions from hands on experience and I freely express them. Oh and Eternal Sonata is good but kinda short for a jrpg but the battle system is similar to Star Ocean you should give it a second look. Graphics dont make a good rpg. Not that their anything wrong with them.
squall747 (on 21 April 2008)
@ gangster gamer me a fan boy? you might wanna recheck that statement. I own a PS3 and if you read carefully I said that was (mostly) a mediocre list. Star Ocean is mediocre. Disgaea i thought was terrible. Kingdom hearts is a mediocre action rpg as well. And hopefully FF 13 will be good. And I dont know anything about the others games on ur list they may turn out good or they may suck nobody knows. And if being drunk is your excuse for saying stuff you regret then dont bother writing anything at all till your sober enough to talk rationally. Everything I said stands as I was thinking rationally when posting. @ Snuff Box that's good advice
Gangster_Gamer (on 21 April 2008)
You're right, but when someone is drunk, their ideologies tend to differ from when they are sober.
Snuffbox (on 21 April 2008)
Solution = don't get angry about these posts :)

It's just videogames- life is too short to get heated about this stuff
Gangster_Gamer (on 20 April 2008)
And I forgot to add Folklore, which was half RPG and half adventure, and that game was great.
Gangster_Gamer (on 20 April 2008)

The fact that you called that list mediocre already classifies you as a fanboy.

Let me start out by saying I'm sorry because I did forget about Mass Effect. That is a great game and I have to give 360 some props on that (go check the Mass Effect page I commented on it saying it's awesome), but Blue Dragon was TERRIBLE, Enchanted Arms was fun for 1 hour, and I never played Eternal Sonata, it just looked pretty dumb to me. Fable 2 looks like a great game as well, but Fable just got boring too quickly, it doesn't match up to Oblivion. There isn't too much info about Infinite Undiscovery (at least that I know of), so I can't comment on that, but if you have a link please show me... And by the way, I know God of war doesn't have RPG elements, I was just a little angry (and drunk) at what you were saying so I tried to expand my list. That was a little fanboyish so once again I apologize. Everything else on that list though is gonna own.
squall747 (on 20 April 2008)
@ Farmland exactly no ones knocking PS3 but it's foolish to say PS3 has more & better rpgs. I too am looking forward to Fable 2 I've been downloading the lion head videos on xbl and I'm really looking forward to how they input the "love" feature into the game. Also the new one button combat feature is looking good too. And Tales of Versperia is gonna be sweet. I've been a Tales fan since Tales of Destiny back on PSOne. I'm excited to see Namco put out the next installment of this great franchise on Xbox 360.
FaRmLaNd (on 19 April 2008)
By which time of course the 360 will have more RPG's added on top. Personally I'm excited about fable 2. I wasn't hyped for the first one like everyone else so I really enjoyed it. I'll buy cry on and infinite undiscovery when they're released aswell. Hopefully they both make it this year. The ps3 is a great machine but from both a quality and quantity argument you cannot realistically say that the ps3 has better RPG's. Most fans arguments are for future releases, which you haven't even played, they could be crap for all you know. I'd rather play RPG's now and in the future.
Snuffbox (on 19 April 2008)
Sony fanboys are hilarious

God of War has RPG elements = EPIC FAIL.

Oh well, keep waiting till 2009 for those great PS3 RPGs :)

squall747 (on 19 April 2008)
@ gangster gamer save it man and the mediocre rpg list. ( mostly )
the new Tales game will be better then star ocean (ur best in ur words). always has been the better series.

and about god of war 3 being a rpg?! i dont even wanna comment on that nonsense. rpg elements...jeez that and a 100 other games, doesnt make them rpgs i guess Rainbow 6 vegas 2 is a rpg now too!?

and I will go there i still say 360 has more and better rpgs. and i only refer to titles coming out in 2008. i somehow doubt all those titles will be out in 2008.....FF 13 for starters. keep up the deep digging.

And who knows what 360 will have in store for rpg's for 2009. But they haven't failed so far between both wrpgs and jrpgs. fact is 360 owners dont have to look far to find good rpg's.

and looking at ur avatar makes me wonder... all 360's rpg's suck?? I dont think so. Mass Effect was a pretty good wrpg. Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata were good but not great. Hell even Enchanted Arms was pretty decent. I own and played them all and liked them all.

Did you play them all? You said they suck so you must have right? I somehow doubt you played one of them if any. lol let alone own a 360.
By looking at your games list I dont see one 360 game listed. So I have my doubts. But if you do own a 360 & played all those games then my apologies. But you might wanna update you games list as to make it more believable.

And imo I doubt any of those games on your list will be better then Lost Odyssey.

Gangster_Gamer (on 19 April 2008)

I disagree with you're comments about 360 having better RPG's. I think you're forgetting some other rpgs coming to the PS3. There's of course FFXIII, and then there's Star Ocean 4 (which will be even better), Kingdom Hearts 3, White Knight Story, Disgea 3, Angel Love Online (Look it up, a free MMO for PS3), and God of War 3 (it has its RPG elements).

Don't even start to say 360 has better rpgs, it just has more (right now). Plus they all suck, Lost odyssey is the only good one, actually it's a great one, but it remains the only high quality one.

Good day to you.

The reality is the 360 has the best mix of JRPG's and WRPG's out any of the consoles. LO is a great game, its worth it. One only has to look at all the LO avatars to see that the people that've played it love it.
squall747 (on 17 April 2008)
dude ur right, but man its worth the risk. especially if your really into rpgs. the 2008 360 are made pretty well but it wont be till august when the problem is done away with completely. but even if you'd get one now and it rrod they'd fix it for free i dont see how u could lose.
Squall_Leonhart (on 17 April 2008)
I still refuse to pay that amount of money for it to potentially break on me, i know the new ones are better than they used to be but still...

I mean you have to understand anyones hesitation into buying a 360 these days!
squall747 (on 17 April 2008)
@mukkeh11 But their's a difference the target audience for Wii is casual. And rpg's are directed at hardcore gamers. So I believe the Wii wouldn't see as many sales as you might think.

And Final Fantasy is legend we know this, but it's past it's time. I say that with respect but I dont see how any rpg gamer of a mature age cannot see Final Fantasy is going down hill.

If your expecting the Ultimate rpg when FF13 comes out I think you and many other people are gonna be disappointed.

Truth is when it comes to rpgs regardless of FF, Xbox 360 has the edge we got Lost Odyssey which is awesome and Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery will be out on the 360 this year too. Not mention wrpg like Fable 2 and Too Human. So I'm gonna have to disagree the choice to me is obvious which one is better.

Final Fantasy will only make a killing due to it's past glory. Both me and you will buy it cause we pray for the best. But after the last few FF I know better not to get my hopes up.

Aside from all that congrats to Lost Odyssey for hitting 600k.

@squall_leonhart then your missing out man and that was a cheap shot. The newer 360's are much better made not counting the great warranty so what you say sounds like fan boy bs to me.
Squall_Leonhart (on 17 April 2008)
I kinda wanna play this game, probably down to their being none on the PS3 at the mo!

But i won't risk the RRoD issue so can't :(
Munkeh111 (on 16 April 2008)
@ squall, having a large install base in Japan is obviously going to massively boost sales in Japan. I think that the PS3 brand and FF XIII are making people think twice about getting 360's for RPGs, as they know the "ultimate" one is coming to PS3 only (certainly ultimate in the general public's eyes)
Bitmap Frogs (on 09 April 2008)
Terrific game! Finished it a week ago.

Also, great sales! I hope at 600k+ it'll be enough incentive for Microsoft to keep funding Mistwalker.
squall747 (on 08 April 2008)
@munkeh111 japan isnt the whole world. And that still doesnt mean it would sell millions. And LO on Wii would be stupid imo.

p.s. Japan is no longer the main gaming market.
Also if people in Japan like rpg's that much they would buy a 360. LO isn't the first rpg on 360 and wont be the last.
Munkeh111 (on 08 April 2008)
@ squall, in Japan, people like RPGs, in Japan, there are lots of wiis, in Japan, there are not many 360's get the idea? Even if it sells better than the Wii in the America, it is not going to come close to it in the main market, japan

Best rpg in years. Sold best in the states did a good deal better then Blue Dragon. But I dont understand how Blue Dragon sold better in Japan then Lost Odyssey, that makes no sense to me.

And what would make someone think Lost Odyssey would sell millions on the Wii??? The only games Wii owners play are Mario and Zelda or that Wii sports. Last time I checked 360 software sales were high. They hold the record for attachment rate not the Wii.
XanderZane (on 04 April 2008)
This game in incredible. It has the same elements and wonderful game play as any FF game. Japanese gamers should have bought this game like crazy. It's unbelieve how gamers in Japan are so biase. If this came out on the Wii it would have sold millions. It has already sold over 550,000 copies and most of the sales were in America. This is really a Japanese style game. This should have sold better in Japan and Europe. Damn shame.
WiiBox3 (on 04 April 2008)
I'm a couple hours into the second disk. Damn this game reminds me of how Final Fantasy II (FF IV in Japan) first dragged me into RPGs. I have not been able to find a J-RPG that I loved since FF VII, though I did enjoy FF X and FF X2. (I also liked FF VIII at first, but did not finish the game due to how boring it got watching the really long animations for the Gardians and spending hours stealing magic.)

If you loved the old FF games this is a great game. But beware if you do not like long story sequences you may not like this, if you survived FF X you will be fine.

Did I say this was awesome I don't remember saying that... FF 4-8 did suck. I haven't even tried this out yet so... yeah, I don't know if this is good either. And i'm not really looking for a life destroying game right now.
The Mann (on 30 March 2008)
Great game and it's now the highest selling JRPG on the 360 although thats not saying much.
rukusa (on 29 March 2008)
Wow the only territory which this game is strong in, is the US.
kuddles (on 27 March 2008)
When you consider that the 360 isn't the most likely system to be purchased by JRPG fans, being released in February, having weak marketing, and burned feelings from Blue Dragon, sales for this game have been pretty darn good.
jpelles (on 27 March 2008)
I agree. It's a good enough game and with an enevitable fall/winter marketing push I think Lifetime sales could hit 1 million.

My favorite RPG since Golden Sun 1 and 2.
dabaus513 (on 26 March 2008)
This game will sell 1 million eventually.
MorgZ (on 26 March 2008)
Terrific game.

Enjoyed this far more than Blue Dragon (i found the plot of Blue Dragon to childish).

Really got into the story, enjoyed the pace of the game and thought the battles stayed interesting.

Only slight issues I found is that sometimes the save points could have been spaced better and perhaps the final bosses could have been a bit harder - i thought the hardest boss in the game was one of the first!

It's great the 360 is getting some terrific variety.

Nearly hitting half a million, pretty solid sales and hopefully it will get lifetime sales of approaching 750k as the install base increases and word of mouth spreads.
NSS7 (on 21 March 2008)
Can this game sell better than any Final Fantasy games.
rukusa (on 21 March 2008)
I think the reason JPRGs are selling so-so on the 360 is mainly because the "mother" of all JRPGs isnt coming the platform.

Yeah I know how it sounds, but considering how that crowd behaves its kinda obvious that the fanbase of Final Fantasy is the largest JRPG fanbase of all.

If Kingdom Hearts which I personally doubt, were to come to the PS3 then it would be much worse for the 360 crowd.

the most emotional game ever
aclear (on 10 March 2008)
Yes I do, and mainly because the game is being built for the American/Western gamer. It's not a typical JRPG. Look at Kingdom Hearts sales figures, to see how games designed for American audiences sell in Japan compared to America.

With that being said, the 360 version will sell 2-1 the ps3 version in America, while the ps3 version will far outsell the 360 version in japan. 360 Owners are more likely to pick up The Last Remant (more so than Lost Odyseey) due to the fact that Square published it. Also, it's very action based, so the Mass Effect crowd will most likely give this a try.

Considering it's Square's next big RPG, I think it will sell atleast 2.5 million worldwide, and about 1.7 million of that in America. Only time will tell on that one. (I can't wait to revisit this thread 2 months after it's released and see how close I am).

Lost Odyssey, in my opinion, is doing well in sales. After this week, it should be over 400k units (with the next wave of american and european sales counted). I think it will land around 500-600k, which isn't bad for a system that is not known for RPGS. Let's face it, most RPG fans are buying PS3's for future RPGS, mainly ff13 and ff versus 13. But till those are released, their isn't crap RPG wise for the ps3.
darthdevidem01 (on 09 March 2008)

Last Remnant, do YOU really think it will do "better" on 360..

in Japan it's sales are DEAD due to the PS3 version

outside of JAPan we can see from the sales of lost oddesy that it won't do that good..
aclear (on 07 March 2008)
darthdevidem01 says:

wow...how dillusioned are you..

what JRPG's has square-enix made 360 exclusive...what Infinite Undiscovery...so THAT title is WAY bigger than FF13, FFvs 13, WKS..
Posted on: 03/07/08, 17:47

I never said Infinite Undiscovery was bigger than ff13. But, while SE has stated that ff13 will be ps3 exclusive (and they just did so this year), they have been reluctant to make that decision. The game is also using Crytal Tools (the new name for the white engine), meaning if SE wants, they can wait 6 months after it's released and make a 360 version also. The engine is cross platform. I, myself, would not be surprised to see versus, and ff13 make it's way to the 360, and possibly the pc. I still believe that the sales trends of Last Remnants will decided the strategy for ff13.

And, star ocean 4 has yet to be determined which platform it will be released on, but I have read on many sites that it's likely to be cross platform.

I am not "dillusioned"...hell, I'm not even a 360 fanboy. I love my ps2, ps1, and nintendo. I was reluctant to get a 360, as stated before. But, at the price systems are today, I had to chose one of the other, and, with how the rpg market is looking for the next year, I chose the 360. While a "Final Fantasy" game doesn't exist on the 360 outside of 11 (which I play), the rpgs on the 360 are good, and just as good as any non FF title out there.
darthdevidem01 (on 07 March 2008)

It's kind of funny that Final Fantasy is one of the best selling franchises, and has multiple games in the top 20 best selling console games list. Maybe you might wanna retract that "What no one wants" statement.

NSS7 says:
If this game in PS3 It will sell more than 1 mil in Japan
Posted on: 03/05/08, 04:29

Can't agree with you on that one either. Last Remnants will put all the debates over which system will sell more RPGS. But, seeing how more JRPG companies are signing up to release exclusive games on the 360, and the 360 has such a small user base in their home country, that tells you which system is leading the RPG battle. With companies like Mist Walker, and Namco already producing top notch rpgs for the 360, and Square Enix making more RPGS 360 exclusive, and ones that aren't, are for both consoles (with the exception of FF13, which is stated to be a PS3 exclusive, but can change depending on Lost Remnants sales figures), I would have to give the advantage to the 360.

Only reason LO isn't selling well, is that there isn't enough RPGS to bring the RPG crowd to the 360, but, a lot of ppl who are like me (die hard RPG fan), will see the light like I have. With sony cutting down to only the 40 gig ps3 (with no backwards compatability), and with the very, very, very limited RPGS for the ps3 (and less in production that are exclusive), it's easy to realize that sony has lost it's rpg dominance. The 360 is the only next-gen system that offers an RPG gamer the games that he wants. As games like Last Remants, Infinited Undiscovery, and Tales of Vesperia make their launces, I expect Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Odysessy to get a boost in sales.

I have long been a sony fan, as I was a nintendo fan before then. But, the market is changing yet again, and while I didn't get an original xbox cause of the lack of RPGs, I did get the 360, cause that is truly where the genre is heading.
fred (on 05 March 2008)
Top game, 360 has a lot of top rpgs of now and this and Mass Effect are the best so far 10/10,

The first disc was so awesome, and nothing has topped it yet. Dissapointed in plot holes and such. I still do love it though.

An 8.5 easy. I hope the last disc is epic and recaptures my attention.
Sansui (on 29 February 2008)
Lost Odyssey is an incredible game. A number of game reviewers were unfairly harsh about the game being a "JRPG", but that's just the kind of game that I and many others love. I can't stand POS wrpgs like Oblivion... I think if an RPG gets blasted for being 'old' and derivative, then FPS sequels like Killzone 2 and Halo 3 should get blasted the same way. Such a ridiculous double standard

This game is the true successor to the Final Fantasy series... FFX + have been garbage. Twelve had a pretty good story, but the MMO style combat was lame.

Most PS3 games don't have the legs that legs that Uncharted does though either so your argument is moot. Look at Mass Effect, which released around the same time as Uncharted and compare the legs.
Strategyking92 (on 21 February 2008)

Yep, I agree, but you also gotta think about how xbox sales work, sell high the first month, then taper off little by little. So uncharted's sales are misleading since it had great legs, I don't think this will.

not taking into account, that in "first week" Uncharted was available only at few retailers, who actually broke the release date and that this "first week" in Uncharted's case only was a "first day" (while other games usually have 4 days of sales in first week) = cherry picking

Its 360 only and MS get a cut even if they allow it to go to the PC don't you realize that?, it's a win win situation for MS when games they have paid into go to the PC as well they don't care about fanboyz and only staying on their console(it won't go to any other console) that PC version also means they take money from Wii and PS3 owners to..

Lost Odyssey USA launch sales
Week 1 = 101,277

Uncharted USA Launch sales
Week 1 = 35,097

360 really has become home to the RPGs now..
cloud532 (on 21 February 2008)
i see very low sales for this game, i spected that will be arount 1million, but i see what user type is the 360 user, the 360 user donīt like rpgs, mostly arcade games and fps, and maybe the box didnīt have the "only for x360" logo because the game may came to pc by the low sales. And i say low sales because a great production must be around 1-2million to be rentable.

I know business is business and MS and Sony are both competing - but its a shame that this is exclusive on 360 as its going to sell a lot less than it would on PS3. Not because PS3 is better before anyone flames, just because its not only a RPG but an RPG aimed, from what I can see, at the jRPG crowd, and 360 is not the right platform to reach that audience. Average games on PS3 are going to sell more than this in Japan.

im guessing 200-400k in the states 100-200k in others and 100-200k in japan so it should end with half a mil which isnt bad i guess
Squire (on 25 December 2007)
youre right. xbox crowd only wants a lot of guns, blood, shooting, violence and sex in games. normal beautiful games are boring for them.
mztazmz (on 24 December 2007)
i know i'm probably asking for it, but i don't think this will sell well in the USA. i'm sure it's a good game, but Japanese RPG's just aren't popular with the xbox crowd. i honestly can't think of one jrpg that did well on xbox.

the reason it's on the 360 is because Sakaguchi had a big falling out with square and sony after all the money they lost with "The Spirits Within" movie. naturally Sakaguchi went to sony's worst enemy, microsoft.

in the end, it doesn't matter how good a game is if it's marketed to the wrong people(most 360 owners have little interest in this type of game).
Lafiel (on 20 December 2007)

yea I always wondered about that aswell ..

there are far more nintendo fans here and because all 3 consoles have an equal percentage of "fanboys" (in this context I mean people who upvote things for their own console and downvote things for other consoles with this term , which I hate to use btw) I think the main downvoting for PS3/360 games comes from Nintendophiles

Yup it's just unbelievable they vote negative on something ( that they have not played) just because it's good and not on their chosen console.

Anyway this game looks very good on the videos and should do well in the USA etc.

the reason why this didn't sell in
Japan is because the girl to the right
looks strange as hell

japs are very
weird and if it isn't "cute" they
will not buy
Mr Puggsly (on 20 September 2012)
This should have been bundled with every
360 in Japan. One of the best JRPGs ever
created in my opinion.
