Game Overview

Real Racing 3 is the latest racing simulator in the Real Racing series by Firemonkeys (formerly Firemint) for the iOS and Android. The game features officially licensed tracks (such as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, and Hockenheimring), licensed cars (including Porsche, Lamborghini, Dodge, Bugatti, and Audi) and a new asynchronous multiplayer feature called TSM (Time Shifted Multiplayer).

While the base game and content is free, and it is possible to play without any payment, players are encouraged to progress faster by purchasing in-game currency through microtransactions.

Update: stopped playing it altogether,
its premium currency were quite hard to
earn, and when it let my waste too much
of it on a thing I didn't want and I
chose by mistake, accidentally touching
the screen, without asking for
confirmation as it did in other parts of
the interface, I snapped.

Not bad, but it shows one of the reasons
smartphones and tablets can't replace
portable consoles: motion detection can
be used for steeering quite well, but
using the touchscreen to control
accelerator and brake isn't viable on
small screens, and while it's possible
on tablets and large screen smartphones,
it can't give a proportional feedback.
And it doesn't even try to offer manual
gear shifting, with just the thumbs
available for fast action on the touch
screen when you hold the phone, as most
phones don't offer physical buttons in
the right place to be used with the
other fingers and with the right shape
and feel for fast action, it wouldn't
be possible to do it fast enough.
