Japan sales. failure
Mr Puggsly (on 11 April 2013)
@ Panama - Yeah, yeah... characters are still relatively inexpensive DLC to create. They were probably completed before the game was released.
Panama (on 07 March 2013)
@PlaystationGamer
One and a half pounds? I don't think you realize how much effort has to go into a fighting game character. Fighting games are not like any other genre, and it really busts my balls when people start treating them like they are.
WebMasterFlex (on 01 March 2013)
They should give it for free on PS+
PlaystaionGamer (on 27 February 2013)
I love this Game but the sales are sad, also DLC characters £3.99 EACH? No.. Just no. £1.50 is worth it nothing more.
Signalstar (on 08 January 2013)
Japan sales still to come.
WebMasterFlex (on 08 January 2013)
500K with Vita version after a month. Probably a million seller...
atma998 (on 07 January 2013)
Wow what a flop!
binary solo (on 04 January 2013)
@pho there is nothing rushed about the look and gameplay of this. My only complaint is that I've had too many occasions of online crashing mid game and failing to even start a game online. Pretty much has made online broken for us limiting us to offline multi.
Panama (on 04 January 2013)
I wish other fighters could use a similar netcode to this game. My friend lives in the US and I play 2v2 with him lag free 90% of the time.
Pho_Hybrid (on 02 January 2013)
Honestly after seeing the game being announced, in March/April and then being released in Nov, I knew Sony was rushing the game. Honestly I'm surprised how "good" the game was received by reviewers, though the sales don't surprise me, however I still bought the game... for $40.
richardhutnik (on 02 January 2013)
I am curious why anyone is thinking this would kick the doors off and Sony would think it something that would move consoles, so they would bundle it? Is it wishful thinking or what involved here? What am I missing?
pezus (on 01 January 2013)
You did? Must've been a big believer
sepoer (on 26 December 2012)
I though this game is gonna be a huge success ...
Mr Puggsly (on 24 December 2012)
Perhaps $60 is too high. $40 for a game like this would be more reasonable.
SunofKratos (on 24 December 2012)
How mch have this game sold this week?Anyway i expected better numbers for the holiday season. Hopefully this game can cross the million mark.
VGKing (on 23 December 2012)
@Andrespetmonkey
What are you talking about? I've been seen that cheap-ass live action commercial for the game since launch.....
pezus (on 23 December 2012)
Nice boost this week. 90k possible next week? Hopefully 500k by the end of the year
Barozi (on 21 December 2012)
haha me too andre. What was your bet ?
pezus (on 21 December 2012)
Got a healthy increase this week, at least in USA.
Andrespetmonkey (on 21 December 2012)
Shitty to little marketing = big fat flop. Unfortunate, but easy bet win for me.
Tridrakious (on 19 December 2012)
270k total units sold at retail according to VGC. I wonder how this game is doing on the PStore.
ganoncrotch (on 14 December 2012)
Have to agree MK is a fairly bad example to use as a good fighting game, even when you put even MK9 up next to street fighter 4. a guard button in a 2d 1v1 fighting game is just idiotic.
Billjw (on 13 December 2012)
You could defeat goro on very hard by just jump kicking him over and over again. Gameplay was a mess for those OG mortal kombats
Billjw (on 13 December 2012)
VGking, I haven't played one since deadly alliance? (Not sure which exactly but it came out around '05) but based on the ones in the 90s they were all pretty bad especially compare to street fighter II and fatal fury. There was zero depth to the fighting and every character had the same move set. It was only popular back then because of the finishing move gimmick and over the top blood. killer instinct is better and that game maybe just as shallow as mortal kombat
VGKing (on 12 December 2012)
Bill, you have never played Mortal Kombat have you?
Billjw (on 12 December 2012)
I'm sure physical retail is still the vast majority of sales especially this time of year. It's hard to gift a download.
Billjw (on 12 December 2012)
Unless it's a wrestling game, I'm skeptical of western developed fighting games. That's one genre best left to the Japanese.
Darrius (on 11 December 2012)
Absolutely pathetic numbers. This once again prooves that the PS3 drones you find on the internet (i.e. N4G.com) are nothing but fanatics and the vocal minority; as evident by the high sale numbers of PS3 multiplats compared to its sub-par exclusives.
keroncoward (on 10 December 2012)
So much hype on youtube videos and no one buys it. I fear for The Last of Us now...
Horrorfest (on 10 December 2012)
It doesn't take a genius to know it's not being tracked...like at all.
Chris Hu (on 10 December 2012)
I'm guessing this will drop out of the top 100 next week.
tbone51 (on 10 December 2012)
@ vgking, this is absurd!!!!This game was at least suppose sell decent and 2nd week made top100!! At this rate PSASBR will only sell if they drop the price or bundle, i dont think even DLC will help
VGKing (on 09 December 2012)
OMG at week 2 sales. Never expected it to sell well but #100 in Week 2? Damn.
krafty89 (on 07 December 2012)
@Colocho that number will be the leaderboard numbers but the first "Season" finished. So the numbers now won't give a good indication. As the leaderboard is reset after each season.
Colocho (on 01 December 2012)
@Feniris, Where are you getting the 300K figure from?? Do you have a link? Just wondering.
Feniris (on 30 November 2012)
Alirght, damage control time.
Digital sales have reportedably higher then Sony's usual display, The european sales only count 1 whole day of sales (most places is it was only avaliable for the 23rd only) and VG charts tracking has been WAAAAY OFF for most of this year. The online statistics for the title provide a clearer picture of how much it has sold. Which exceeds 300,000 at this point, however some of that may include Vita only sales.
Colocho (on 30 November 2012)
Not bad. 1M ltd is doable! Lets not forget that this available in digital form. I for one prefer to buy digital games than actual physical copies.
chidori-chan2 (on 30 November 2012)
Honestly, I am not surprised that it didn't sell to well. Seemed like a poor mans Smash bros clone game also. Times are changing unfortunately for you Sony, he?
Meret (on 29 November 2012)
epic fail, as expected. sony better not to do nintendo clones next time, hahaha
think-man (on 29 November 2012)
Sales on par with what I was predicting.
pokeclaudel (on 29 November 2012)
looks like this game is gonna fail
Aldro (on 22 November 2012)
1m lifetime sales sounds about right. More if they bundle.

First week is probably gonna be less than 0.3-0.5. Deserves more :(
abhiram_33 (on 14 October 2012)
i think this game won't sell as well and im thinking like .75 million
but hopefully gets a good review
think-man (on 09 October 2012)
Cant wait to get this! even though the character line up is weaker than I had wanted. Lets hope it sells decent and they make another one with all the characters that people want this time.
Kresnik (on 20 September 2012)
Well, I am excited for this game, and it will be the first thing I have pre-ordered in years.
