As you can probably tell, Bit Blaster is a space shooting game, done in the classical arcade style, but this isn’t any ordinary space shooting game. In Bit Blaster, you get to create the soundtrack as you play.
Your ship automatically fires for you in rhythm, and every shot plays the next note in one out of several basslines. Explosions make up the percussion section, and when you nick an enemy shield, a note from the current key’s major chord is played. During boss levels, the key changes to a minor for a more ominous sound. Every 5 levels, the key and bassline is changed, so you can hear a variety of sounds.
In keeping with the classic arcade style, all of the music has a very 8-bit sound to it so you get to create your own 8-bit symphony while blowing up alien space ships. We even let you pilot your ship by tilting your device in the direction you want to go! What more could you ask for in a space shooter? Well, in case you just feel like flying, don’t care much about precision shooting, or your finger is getting worn out, you can tilt your device and the accelerometer will take over for you (this works best with an iPad).
