Okay I'm not far in the game yet, but still I think the reviewers are right. it's barely good and for an FPS definitely under average.

Tried the demo for this a few weeks ago. Would have loved to have seen an update of the classic N64 game, with HD visuals and an online mode. Instead I found I was playing a Call of Duty spin-off. Less than halfway through the first mission, felt the game had been completely butchered. The over-the-top sciences with the truck were completely unnecessary and was rather annoyed they effectively changed the plot by introducing 006 far sooner than in the original. Activision shouldn't be allowed anywhere near any other classics as a result of this.
