'Dis game... is unfffingbelievable.

Seriously, it's awesome. $20, and the first game in a long time that truly engrossed me.
thewastedyouth (on 24 April 2012)
I sunk around 50+ hours into the whole experience and found the game to be engrossing and easily worth the twenty dollar asking price.

mrstickball (on 29 November 2011)
I've heard rumors of a directors cut re-release. I'd think that the game did well if it gets one of those. Swery was treated like a demi-god at GDC this year for DP.. I think the game did well for the budget.
DepthAlly (on 17 November 2011)
@yo_john117 how did it bomb hard when it sold far better than their expectations and became one of the most talked about cult hits of the generation?
yo_john117 (on 24 September 2011)
This game bombed hard!
mrstickball (on 12 September 2011)
Hope there's a sequel. Had an epic run at sales with a 10x multiplier and still running strong.
slipknotfan (on 25 June 2011)
God this game was fun. Guilty Pleasure. Fun story and characters.
Darkeagle (on 22 April 2011)
really cool story. i am about 10 to 11 hours in the game, and it gets more and more exciting
gunslinger (on 15 January 2011)
I love the weird dialogue and seemingly insane main character. I get a strong Twin peaks vibe, a show that I LOVE by the way. Maybe that's why I really like this game even with it's faults.
wiilicious (on 31 December 2010)
It's a good game set at the right price point. Really like the genre. But it's not for everyone...
whatz3rname (on 18 December 2010)
Really good game.
Berstuck (on 04 November 2010)
Glad to see this break 100k
Skeeuk (on 31 October 2010)
just got mine, gonna play it today ive wanted this for a long time
Mr Puggsly (on 14 May 2010)
@ LiveEcho
Well I'm glad they at least brought it over. Clearly there weren't many publishers willing to do the same.
LiveEcho (on 10 May 2010)
Screw Ignition for this lousy lousy lousy localisation job.

Not only did they decide to not to release it outside North America, they localised it exclusively for the Xbox 360 IN REGION 1 ONLY.

It's as if they were determined for this game to die.
Reineldinho (on 06 May 2010)
Come on Rising Star release this in EU!!
Mr Puggsly (on 26 April 2010)
@ drakesfortune
To be fair though, its a full price game in Japan. You can expect a huge sales boost after price cuts.

I wonder if they'll release this in Others. More importantly, I wonder if this can every make a profit.
drakesfortune (on 20 April 2010)
Good thing they released this in America. 1000 sold in Japan...ouch.
hellraider (on 18 April 2010)
Come on Rising Star release this in EU!
richardhutnik (on 16 April 2010)
This title apparently did #1 on Amazon recently. Also, besides F K... in the coffee, go look up Sinner Sandwich.
pchyczewski (on 10 April 2010)
this game is sweet and for 20 bucks its a steal... wish it sold more...
drakesfortune (on 07 April 2010)
I don't know why I'm drawn to this game. I just picked it up on Amazon, and I'm going to actually play this sucker. It's probably the worst reviewed game that I'm going to play in years and years and years. It just looks interestingly bad.
disolitude (on 06 April 2010)
How about updating the critics scores for this game. Its at 10 reviews now on meta...
mrstickball (on 24 March 2010)
Incredible 4th week. Keep telling your friends about DP!
charlessurge (on 20 March 2010)
Best Xbox 360 exclusive.
loves2splooge (on 20 March 2010)
Those sales are horrible. This is the death knell for Marvelous Entertainment. Marvelous and Cing are two quality Japanese companies I wouldn't want to see go under. With NIS in a precarious position, it's no surprise because the whole anime srpg/rpg market is so oversaturated. But Marvelous and Cing both offer something unique in the Japanese landscape. Not just uninspired anime srpgs/rpgs.
Mr Puggsly (on 17 March 2010)
Also, this game has only been out for a few week and hasn't been released in Others. Sales will obviously grow over time.
Mr Puggsly (on 17 March 2010)
@ Hero of legend
Lets bear in mind this game was not given much support, its kinda sloppy, low budget, and reviews have been very mixed. It felt more like an experiment than a genuine attempt for a successful game.

The problem isn't the HD consoles, its the game itself. It doesen't have mass appeal for any userbase.

You aren't being offensive, you just aren't being logical.
Hero of legend (on 17 March 2010)
Oh shit, Famitsu data for this week's out, and it shows what is indeed MMV's worst performing game at least on home consoles this gen:

PS3 1300 34% of shipment
360 600 39% of shipment

Their lowest Wii game is Eldar Saga at over 4600.

No More Heroes I think did over 10,000. I can't find out for sure.

I mean JESUS, RSP combined did far worse than any of their Wii, and maybe even DS and PSP games this gen. :O

At least now people can stop saying that MMV would somehow have been better off on the HD platforms or blaming the Wii userbase or whatever.

I hope MMV is indeed taking notice. I hope I'm not being offensive. :(
XGamer0611 (on 12 March 2010)
I finished this and though it was the best game I played in a while. I don't know why some people find it boring. FYI for those still playing if, you just want to do the main story and no side missions when there are long gaps in time smoke a cigarette and time will zoom by.
Mr Puggsly (on 10 March 2010)
Wow, this game is expensive in Japan. The price at Amazon.co.jp is 6,490 yen.

6,490.00 JPY = 72.0698 USD
mrstickball (on 05 March 2010)
Best bet on buying it is probably Amazon.
Mr Puggsly (on 05 March 2010)
Well I just finished this game and I have mixed feelings. The story is amazing, it deserves awards for that aspect. My problems are mostly gameplay related. Episodes 1 - 3 are too long yet Episodes 4 -6 are a blast. And fighting zombies gets tedious, almost seems pointless.

Anyhow, fantastic game over all. One of the most unique games I've ever played. I'm not even a fan of survial horror, but I loved this.
GodOfWar_3ever (on 05 March 2010)
F K in the coffee !!!!!!!!!!
hunter_alien (on 05 March 2010)
Long run for 100k, but lets hope that it will manage to leg it out :-D
Mr Puggsly (on 05 March 2010)
@ elzumo
If that was the case I think the game would be higher quality. It looks like low budget was their agenda from the get go.

I'm sure it'll profit more at a budget price than it would at full price. Because nobody is gonna buy this at full price.
elzumo (on 04 March 2010)
My totally-not-scientific-assumption is that they decided to release this anyway even though it had been in development hell in order to make as much money back as possible, rather than shelve it and book an even bigger loss.
MonstaMack (on 04 March 2010)
Game was not exactly easy to find either.

Target nor Wal-Mart carried it B&M wise.

Most Gamestops got 2-3 copies, some only one.

I didn't see it at the Best Buy I visited.
loves2splooge (on 04 March 2010)
Of course there's always the possibility that this game will have legs in NA... You never know. But they'd need to sell a lot to break even at only $20 a pop.
loves2splooge (on 04 March 2010)
I think Ignition and Marvelous are going to lose money from this game. It's only $20 and the publisher gets a 45% cut. So $9 a pop. That's $120,681 for Ignition. Will that cover localization expenses? I seriously doubt it so Ignition lost money for sure. And then Marvelous, the original Japanese publisher, gets a cut of that $120k. That cut isn't going to cover development by a long shot. Even with Marvelous selling the game for full price in Japan on both the 360 and PS3, I doubt they can break even. This doesn't seem like a game that would sell in Japan. Sure it's survival horror but it has a very niche Suda51 type of feel to it.
krammaii (on 03 March 2010)
Cult classic!
richardhutnik (on 03 March 2010)
F K... in the coffee. FTW!

elzumo (on 03 March 2010)
I don't think they were even expecting this level of sales. A lot of stores only received one copy and/or didn't display the game on the shelf.
Barozi (on 03 March 2010)
huge success !
Mr Puggsly (on 03 March 2010)
I wonder how many copies this need to sell to make a profit. I'd be amazed if it can make it to 100K.
Mr Puggsly (on 03 March 2010)
Its not a terrible game and I love the story. But the gameplay itself gets terribly boring. I'm not even sure if I'll finish it.
afi77 (on 03 March 2010)
Great game! Esp. if you're a fan of the older REs. Poor sales considering it's $20 price. Reviews murdered this game tho :(
elzumo (on 03 March 2010)
If they were charging 60 bucks for this it'd be a 4/10 for sure. But at a third of that price...I dunno, man.
richardhutnik (on 02 March 2010)
This game isn't bad at all. I say it is worth $20. I am not much into horror games, but the humor I find interesting.
Anarky (on 02 March 2010)
gonna go play it now
Anarky (on 02 March 2010)
great game at a great price i love the game im on chapter 2 episode 2 cant get enough of it cant wait to just got off playing it want to play agian incredible story i think it deserves 9.0-8.5
mrstickball (on 02 March 2010)
Fantastic game.

Not perfect, certainly, but the plot is great. My fiancee is addicted to it. I bought her a game she was begging for me to buy her for 3 months (Saw), and I bought this on a whim, and she refused to try any other games 'till she beats this.
Ghazi4 (on 02 March 2010)
@matt247 destructoid gave it a 10/10 but if u look at metacritic other sties gave is 5 and less lol
MonstaMack (on 01 March 2010)
I just bought it. Can't resist the temptation at $20. If it was $50 or $60 it would have been a different story.
Mr Puggsly (on 28 February 2010)
I think I'm gonna pick this up tomorrow. I'm in the mood for a wacky story.
matt247 (on 28 February 2010)
Destructoid gave it a perfect 10
elzumo (on 27 February 2010)
I think it's great. Good voice acting, funny story, good music...I rush through the action sequences so I can get back to the story and side quests.
NoPantsHoSlappa (on 27 February 2010)
I think it's great. This gen is flooded by fps and tps games.
XGamer0611 (on 25 February 2010)
Not horrid like reported by some site. Great not even close, entertaining yes.
shinyuhadouken (on 20 February 2010)
i don't think vgchartz will even track this game.
CGI-Quality (on 20 February 2010)
I'm the second to buy it I see, but I can't add to my collection for some reason.
shinyuhadouken (on 19 February 2010)
got it and apparently first owner on this site
