@ T.Rexington - Making a game similar to Dead Island wouldn't be a good idea. Left 4 Dead is a fun game to jump in and play. While games like Dead Island and Borderlands feel like a chore.

I would keep the formula pretty much the same at least until sales really decline.
T.Rexington (on 04 March 2012)
Kinda crazy how they made a sequel a year after the original but haven't made a new one since then. Hopefully they add a compelling campaign next time, something similar to Dead Island, which is what I originally thought l4d was gonna be when I saw the CGI trailer for the original one.
man-bear-pig (on 03 January 2012)
One of my least favourite games of all time
yo_john117 (on 24 September 2011)
Never really did care for L4D games for some reason.
Riku148 (on 06 September 2011)
This should have come to ps3 too
Mordred11 (on 28 August 2011)
this game has sold really well...
Jay520 (on 19 July 2011)
This game is phenomenal. This would be my most played game if it wasn't for Killzone 2 releasing before it. The game is purely EPIC! especially versus mode.
yahoocom1984 (on 05 July 2011)
Yoi know, the only developers know how to make FPS games these days are Valve and Id software
slipknotfan (on 25 June 2011)
Better than the original. Campains are more memorable and gives you melee weapons!!!
Jay520 (on 08 January 2011)
Love this game. Hope it comes to PS3
yahoocom1984 (on 27 November 2010)
Also in PC the sales appear to exceed 3 million copies also, Now on Steam, the game prices 5 dollars, That's insane

KIDDY LAND!!!
donsterydo2 (on 17 April 2010)
@--OkeyDokey--: You OK ? It's now almost the same as L4D1.
Saruman (on 16 April 2010)
@-OkeyDokey-
the game sold nearly 15.500 units in its 21st week (america). it's far away from being dead.

--OkeyDokey-- (on 23 March 2010)
Those first 7 weeks were incredible and then it just kind of died. The first game had great legs.
MonstaMack (on 11 March 2010)
Well it only needs .14 million more to outsell the first on the 360. Combine that with the low development costs.

In the words of Borat "Great Success."
OMEGA R1PP3R117 (on 27 February 2010)
I didn't like the survivors so much, but "Keith" deserves his own game.
I dont think a game has to look perfect for it to be fun.
Mr Puggsly (on 10 February 2010)
@ nofingershaha
Well do the math...

They are using the Source engine which is old. And it was built using much of the original L4D.

The graphics aren't exactly cutting edge and apparently visuals are the most expensive part of development.

They developed this game in under a year. You often hear developers spend years creating a game.

With all that said there is no doubt in my mind this was a low budget project. And they aren't just selling millions on the 360, its probably selling even better on the PC.
nofingershaha (on 09 February 2010)
@ Mr Puggsly
I wouldn't call it a budget game but most of the cost was associated with the first game game only. It seems Valve already had all the things they need to make the sequel quickly and not to mention they were also using an old (but proven) game engine.
Mr Puggsly (on 05 February 2010)
@ Solid_Snake4RD
Well its a low budget game and its selling great on two platforms. Even at a discounted price its extremely profitable.
Solid_Snake4RD (on 02 February 2010)
this was discounted within 4 days of launching.it even had the a discounted launch price of 45-50$
Boneitis (on 16 January 2010)
@ NicholasCage
Well Gamestop/EB was the only place I knew of selling it for $40 (excluding black friday). Not sure how many weeks they did it exactly. I think it was 2 or 3.
NicholasCage (on 14 January 2010)
It's been $39.99 for like 4 weeks now
BigGumby (on 11 January 2010)
Wow, fantastic sales, word of mouth from the first game must have really pushed this one.
jpain333 (on 10 January 2010)
Wow already better EU/Other sales than the first game in just 6 weeks...nice...
Haste262 (on 08 January 2010)
MW2 was more like -1.5
IxisNaugus (on 07 January 2010)
I love how whenever a sequel is not radically different from its predecessor its automatically "X game 1.5" or "Just the same game again". It's funny because these are probably the same people who moan and bitch whenever a game is "too different". Have these people even played the game? It was bad enough when people moaned at Modern Warfare 2, calling it MW1.5 and now they want to do this for Left 4 Dead 2. They'll probably do the same thing when Super Mario Galaxy 2 is released as well.

Angry rant aside, i hopefully should get round to picking this game up soon, i enjoyed local co-op with a friend on the first game (which i still need to get), and this one is just as great.
Boneitis (on 06 January 2010)
@ massiso
The attraction comes from it being a fun co-op multiplayer game that you can jump right into.

I own both games on the 360 and PC. It just doesn't get old to me. People are going to be playing these games for many years to come.
massiso (on 06 January 2010)
I can't t understand the attraction to this, its a game like every other FPS game with less graphic and gameplay apeal, its a 1.5 from the original release made and shipped less than a year from the original.
PS360fan10 (on 04 January 2010)
This game is amazing
MorgZ (on 04 January 2010)
Loving this game.
donsterydo2 (on 04 January 2010)
It will top L4D1 sales in 7 weeks :-) Outstanding.
Chairman-Mao (on 03 January 2010)
Beastly sales
Nightwish224 (on 30 December 2009)
Omg guys, idk if it can sell 2mil at this point!! :D
huaxiong90 (on 30 December 2009)
This game is selling insane numbers.
Bagaren85 (on 30 December 2009)
Crazy impressive legs!
donsterydo2 (on 29 December 2009)
Next week could be at 2.4m
donsterydo2 (on 29 December 2009)
@Uruler: Heh, it will sell more than Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.
Severance (on 28 December 2009)
i personally like this game more than TF2 and L4D , its one of the best games Valve did in a long time.
Uruler (on 28 December 2009)
Will it sell more then Killzone 2?
Nightwish224 (on 28 December 2009)
I love this game. Thank you Valve.
Boneitis (on 25 December 2009)
This game is doing amazing. And this is why Valve loves the Xbox 360.
Gearbox (on 24 December 2009)
i rented this just like i rented the first. me and my buddy hated it so much! iunno y but its just not the same.... waste of 10.16 dollars
Seece (on 24 December 2009)
2,000,335
donsterydo2 (on 22 December 2009)
Wow, just wow. It looks like it will take over Uncharted 2 sales pretty fast. This 4th week is just insane.
Rawnchie14 (on 17 December 2009)
It's just easier to get a 360 for the common joe - Unfortunately for me, all my friends are ordinary joes, so I 360 with this game.
Wyku (on 14 December 2009)
All of the $40 deals for this game seem to be helping it out.
Boneitis (on 14 December 2009)
@ ramonecaxa
But to build that $100 machine you'll have to shop online for the best prices. Also you need to know how to build a computer. I assume you'll be using a pirated copy of Windows as well.

I think buying a Xbox 360 is easier for the typical consumer. Do we forget the masses aren't computer gurus?
ramonecaxa (on 14 December 2009)
@ Boneitis
I play with a dual core procesor (2.2 ghz., intel) and a NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX in medium quality with split screen =). You just have to discover the trick ;-).
That is a machine that u could have built in 2005 and you can build it now for less than $100 USD.
Boneitis (on 13 December 2009)
@ ameratsu
Maybe not a high end Geforce 8, but you still a decent Geforce 8.
Ghazi4 (on 12 December 2009)
nice sales so once it arrives me on friday i can have lots of peeps to play with!!!! lol
Boneitis (on 12 December 2009)
@ ameratsu
Well my computer is a single core AMD 64 with a Geforce 7600. Those are the recommended requirements as well. It does not run nearly as well as the 360 even on lowest settings.

With that said, I can presume if you want 360 performance a high end Geforce 8 is the way to go.
ameratsu (on 12 December 2009)
System wars on the l4d2 wall? Come on guys, just enjoy this great game. There are plenty of good reasons to buy the PC version, and some people would just rather buy the x360 version. No need to argue.

@Boneitis: You don't need a high end 8 series card to play it at the same level as the x360 version. That's simply incorrect.
Boneitis (on 12 December 2009)
@ solidpumar
To play L4D2 as well as the 360 you need at least a dual core processor and a high end Geforce 8. And if you want to play with a friend there is no split screen. You'll need another computer.

A 360 only cost $200 and the game installation is simple. You put the CD in the tray and the game starts.

The world isn't full of computer guru's like you and I. Just be happy people are buying the game no matter what platform it is.
donsterydo2 (on 12 December 2009)
solidpumar: Why to buy a PC that can run games if you can buy cheap ass PC for writing and internet and cheap ass console that will run every game that comes to this platform. I have 3x PC at home and non of them can run new games.
kunaixhaku (on 12 December 2009)
@solidpumar
cuz...this game is $39.99 almost every week(in canada anyway) every week a major retailer puts this at 39.99 this week its walmart last week was futureshop den bestbuy...soon ebgames...and we have the option to sell this game to someone else or trade it in after....
solidpumar (on 11 December 2009)
Why do people buy this version over the superior and cheaper STEAM version?
I can't believe all these peopple don't have a computer that can play at least on medium/720p which is basically what the 360 does.
Sanzee (on 08 December 2009)
Why are we talking about Uncharted 2 here? Jesus Christ.
Boneitis (on 08 December 2009)
@ dsage01
For the record, the combined sales of L4D2 are far better than Uncharted 2.

But we'll have to wait and see which has better legs. The original Left 4 Dead is still selling pretty well. While the original Uncharted was heavily bundled.
dsage01 (on 07 December 2009)
this is better than the first but uncharted 2 is better than this game in my opinion and uc2 is selling better
nathantay (on 06 December 2009)
Better than the first in every way. Why is everyone talking about the PC version? This is the 360 version of L4D2.
FaRmLaNd (on 06 December 2009)
In regards to physical sales the 360 version should beat out the pc version. However as has already said combined with steam sales the pc version will sell the most copies eventually.
axumblade (on 06 December 2009)
Great sales. 1 million already! I hope it continues to sell well. I need to get back on this game though. >_
hunter_alien (on 06 December 2009)
Yeah... to bad that the PC version has STEAM to back the sales up, where it will probably do at least 3-4 million on the 18 million installbase ;-)
mexitalrish (on 06 December 2009)
i can't wait to get this game. glad to see that it is selling well also
Seece (on 06 December 2009)
PC sales would still be nowhere near 500k.
ebo (on 06 December 2009)
In Europe the PC version is the most popular.
FaRmLaNd (on 02 December 2009)
The pc sales would have been strong in Europe thanks top countries like Germany where the pc market is bigger then the console market.
zzyoshiman (on 01 December 2009)
@ps3 sales
they are also talking about the pc version
ps3-sales! (on 01 December 2009)
Call me crazy, but i doubt it sold 1.5 mil in america alone it's second week.
blue7x7 (on 01 December 2009)
According to Valve it sold 2 million in 2 weeks already that's good news. Deserves it great sales.

http://www.bravenewgamer.com/2009/12/left-4-dead-2-sells-2-million-in-2-weeks/
Boneitis (on 01 December 2009)
Week two should be great thanks to Black Friday and the $20 price cut at some places. I just bought it at Gamestop for $40.

blue7x7 (on 29 November 2009)
Great first week sales and a great game. Europe is doing well as well. People don't realize that in europe it was released on the 20th so those sales are only 2 days. L4D1 did 55,000 on its first week L4D2 did 109,000 in just 2 days it looks like it will sell better than the first one or about the same.
The_Killer (on 29 November 2009)
I hope this has legs in Europe cos its an shit start.
krammaii (on 28 November 2009)
Amazing sequel. Glad it is selling accordingly... everything is just so fine tuned.
Bagaren85 (on 28 November 2009)
Its def better than first game. Im pleased.
Ravage27 (on 28 November 2009)
good sales, very disappointed in the game itself though...Lets not kid ourselves,Valve really should/could have released it as an expansion.
Abberon (on 28 November 2009)
It's really cliché. I'm surprised the first one was so popular.
donsterydo2 (on 28 November 2009)
I wonder how Black Friday will affect its sales - 500k the second week, anyone ? :-p
axumblade (on 28 November 2009)
Picked it up today. Can't wait to crack it open
kiefer23 (on 27 November 2009)
@OkeyDokey Came out Friday in others.
Seece (on 27 November 2009)
1.5 mill by years end would be nice. 3 mill lifetime
donsterydo2 (on 27 November 2009)
I don't think it will have the legs of the first one because it would mean that it could sell 4m in a year on X360 :-p
--OkeyDokey-- (on 27 November 2009)
Wonder why this series never took off in Others?
donsterydo2 (on 27 November 2009)
Veeeeery high sales in Japan O_o If there was the same number of X360 as PS3 it could possibly top 80k, just wow. And it looks like it will beat my high prediction, it will be over 600k WW.
blue7x7 (on 26 November 2009)
Great sales I'm picking this up tommorrow. I really thought this game was going to bomb because it was being release so close to modern warfare 2 since both are FPS. So good to see its doing good on its own.
Boneitis (on 26 November 2009)
@ Seece
Your Japan and NA guesses were pretty close.

Although I think Others will be 150K when its included.
Seece (on 26 November 2009)
Jp - 30k
Others - 80k?
America - 480k
Burning Typhoon (on 23 November 2009)
It doesn't look like a bad game... if you're into shooters. I'm not, though, so, I won't be getting it... It's a barrow, or rental for me at best.
Ghazi4 (on 23 November 2009)
i soo want this :D it was supposed to come in the shop here a few days ago but it didnt :( now i have to wait a while prob a week :P oh well ill just play borderlands or assassins creed 2 now lol
Bagaren85 (on 20 November 2009)
Got it yesterday, never did play first one. I like it so far, most online co-op.
donsterydo2 (on 19 November 2009)
600k on X360 first week. Mark my words :-)
thranx (on 19 November 2009)
Well worth the buy! Never played the first, but me and my buddy played this today and had a blast. Co-op campaign and online are a blast. Now i just need to get more xbox live friends

piggychan (on 20 June 2009)
I didn't think the first one was that great for a purchase however I will be picking the 2nd one up.. and if I like it that much I probably hunt down the first one
Gearbox (on 14 June 2009)
i like it a lot however the fact that a frying pan is the most powerful weapon is a slap in the face!
monlosez (on 09 June 2009)
I am ready for L4D2 Versus mode.
Slimebeast (on 07 June 2009)
