Nintendo has just released its supplementary earnings sheet which contains Nintendo's million-shipping games and release dates for upcoming titles. Despite the massive loss expected for the year, Nintendo is still selling enormous amounts of software. Three 3DS games, five DS games, and 10 Wii games published by Nintendo have topped 1m units globally in the nine months to December 2011.
Wii Game Apr - Dec / Dec 11' LTD
Mario Kart Wii 4.91m / 31.91m
New Super Mario Bros. 3.53m / 25.47m
LOZ: Skyward Sword 3.42m / 3.42m
Wii Sports 2.40m / 79.16m
Wii Sports Resort 2.19m / 29.87m
Wii Party 1.91m / 7.68m
Wii Fit Plus 1.75m / 20.24m
Kirby's RtDL 1.21m / 1.21m
Wii Play: Motion 1.12m / 1.12m
Super Mario Galaxy 1.09m / 10.40m
The figures for the Wii games in the first nine months of the fiscal year come to 23.5m units shipped out of about 89m Wii games shipped - roughly 25% of all Wii games sold in the period were thus one of the ten above.
3DS has started to become a good platform for major Nintendo games too:
3DS Game Apr - Dec / Dec 11' LTD
Super Mario 3D Land 5.03m / 5.03m
Mario Kart 7 4.53m / 4.53m
LOZ: Ocarina of Time 3D 2.49m / 2.49m
The 3DS million sellers shipped 12.06m in the past nine months, out of 28.03m 3DS games shipped globally (and remember the 28m includes third party games too) or 43% of 3DS games shipped in that period. Its likely that with Nintendogs + Cats, Pilotwings and a few others also released Nintendo has pushed its share of 3DS software to date back to 50% or more, while Nintendo's software share on the much larger Wii software market continues to fall.
The original DS still has several major performers for Nintendo as well:
DS Game Apr - Dec / Dec 11' LTD
Pokemon Black / White 2.91m / 14.42m
New Super Mario Bros. 1.87m / 28.74m
Mario Kart DS 1.26m / 22.30m
Layton & The Last Specter 1.19m / 1.19m
Kirby Mass Attack 1.01m / 1.01m
The major DS games totalled 8.24m units for Nintendo in the nine-months to December 2011, out of 51.21m DS games shipped in that period - 16% of DS games.
In the release date section, there aren't any major surprises. Typically, the data only runs through the ending of the current quarter, so the one possible bit of new information is that Dragon Quest X is listed as a major third party game for Wii in Japan - making it slightly more likely the game will release by Nintendo's next earnings release (likely late April) in Japan. Pokepark 2, Xenoblade, Mario Party 9, and Rhythm Heaven are all still due for Wii in the next few months in the US, and the 3DS hasn't seen changes in its release schedule either. Pandora's Tower and The Last Story are still coming to Europe by June - which bodes well for a US release for each game at some point as well.
