The Americas Preview: 11/5 Edition (Uncharted 3) - News

For the purposes of this article, all data used is preliminary and may differ from final numbers.
Uncharted 3 has managed to improve upon Uncharted 2's launch week by just over 30%, giving it around 550,000 units. This should be enough to secure first week sales - worldwide - of 1 million plus.
Sonic Generations attracted 160,000 gamers, whilst the latest Lord of the Rings outing debuted higher with 200,000 units. Lastly, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns managed 80,000 units.

That's a very nice opening for Harvest Moon, especially when you consider the low userbase of the 3DS! It did better than Starfox 3DS and the new Kirby game for Wii! I know I'm comparing apples and oranges here but I don't care. :P
And over half a million for Uncharted 3 equals great in my book.
Most impressed with Lord of the Rings. It looks great, theyre brave releasing an RPG so close to Skyrim though :-P
UC3 did pretty good. And the legs will be awesome as usual on this game.
lets see what the real numbers will be...but still the sales makes the game not better or worse...
If U3 has 30% growth at opening then it should easily do north of 5 million LTD. U2 is at just under 5 million and I see no reason to expect a different sales pattern for U3 - i.e. it will not be front loaded but will have strong ongoing sales level.
Expected a bit more from UC3,but I'm pleased because the legs will be fantastic.
Well... i was expecting 600k+ for U3. But its OK, the game will have legzzz
great sales for Uncharted 3 consider Americas never a big fan of ps3, Uncharted 3 did well

Dont Underestimate the power of EMEAA with the brand Playstation and the games for ps3, if the game doesn't meet your expectations (U2 didn't sold even 900,000 units), so more than a million for Uncharted 3 is amazing, and considering that most of the ps3 has legs, I think the game will end selling like 7 millions.
Good for Sega taking Sonic back from Intensive Care. Hope it stays that way.
people who think 30% increase of a 5 million seller as 'anything but awesome' are either trolling or just stupid.
Uncharted is the definition of legs, and I'm actually very happy with the sales number, I'm sure so do Sony and ND
naw, i'm sure uncharted 3 sold more than that. i bet vgchartz undertracked it like how they did with the ps3 last month.
The best selling Harvest Moon ever opened worldwide with 60k.

UC3 500+k? i doubt it! i'll wait for NPD findings. even if vgc is off in Americas i still expect close to 1.3 or more ww from vgc numbers, but i also know that this is prelim/preview data so i won't jump the gun and NPD could have the same findings as VGC.
the wk of MW3 will interesting. i think in its second wk UC3 can manage 100-500k which is this wk coming. not sure about the rest of the month, but likely 2.5 to 4 m by yr's end. can't wait to see Nov. ww first wk posted.

What the hell Harvest Moon?! I'm really starting to think that Farmville is the reason why the Harvest Moon series is doing so great lately.

1m first week worldwide is good for Uncharted 3, hopefully it should keep selling well, though I do feel Sony were expecting more with the huge advertising campaign
uncharted 3 is the game of the year 2011 guys. this is so amazing, gameplay, graphic, story...wow.
If USA, the biggest market did 550k, I don't imagine the score in EMEAA ... 400k ?
The Americas, NOT THE USA, is not the Biggest Market for ps3, is EMEAA for this kind of games.
i hope Uncharted 3 sells more then that... BUT over 1mil first week is still amazing! thats the biggest opener for any Uncharted game yet. i just hope this gets around word of mouth and can push U3 sales through the roof in time!

Seems too low for Uncharted 3. I mean, Uncharted 2 outsold both versions of Arkham Asylum combined and the sequel barely beats the PS3 version of Arkham City first week? :/

Sad that a game like UC3 couldn't top BF3. PS3 owners are stupid.
I wonder if Uncharted 3 can sell more Worldwide then Gears of War 1. If it holds 30% stronger sales, that guarantees it will beat at least Gears 1, but It could just be frontloaded like most games are nowdays.
