2010 Year on Year Sales and Market Share Update to June 26th - News
by VGChartz Staff , posted on 02 July 2010 / 10,288 ViewsHere we see data representing the global sales through to consumers, and change in sales performance, of the three home consoles over comparable periods for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Also shown is the market share for each of the consoles over the same periods.

A slight alteration to the way that the data is illustrated from now on. 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 sales are shown in series at the top of the table and then just below a comparison of 2010 versus 2008 and 2010 versus 2009 is displayed. Hopefully this provides an easier to view summary of all the data.
Some startling figures this week amongst a set of otherwise fairly dull numbers.
The Wii is down again this week and is only just clinging on to its year to date increase, it seems certain that the Wii will drop into negative territory soon enough.
Wii: DOWN year on year this week by 29,000 or 15% and UP year on year - year to date by 3.14%.
The effect of the Slim is now clearly wearing off for the PS3 and where previously it was managing to best the 2009 numbers by just under 40% on a regular basis it is now posting more modest, but still impressive, growth in the 20's. It does seem like a new floor level though and it will likely stick at this percentage up until the massive negative effect that will show through when the anniversary of the Slim is reached.
PS3: UP year on year this week by 25,000 or 25% and UP year on year - year to date by 38.77%.
The 360 builds on last weeks impressive boost and it is clear that it is not just the reduced prices of the old inventory that is helping here. Reports of limited supply for the 360S in the US following impressive sales and Japanese confirmation that 80% of the sales this week were for the 360S prove a healthy appetite for the new shiny model. The 360S is not launched in the EU until mid July but pre-orders are said to be strong and it is clear that the 360 will be showing positive growth for 2010 versus 2009 very soon. How long can this boost last and where will it settle?
360: UP year on year this week by 117,000 or 108% and DOWN year on year - year to date by 0.75%

Though it seems that part of Nintendo's share has gone now to Sony cause Microsoft's stays just the same, Wii is still performing great!
