Microsoft's Next Generation Console is Just Called Xbox, Series X is the Model Name - News

Microsoft at The Game Awards announced its next generation console, codenamed Project Scarlett, is officially called Xbox Series X, as well as announcing Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II for the console.
While it was called Xbox Series X during the announcement, a Microsoft representative speaking with Business Insider said the next generation console from the company is is just called Xbox and Series X is the model name.
"The name we're carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox," said the representative. "And at The Game Awards you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X.
"Similar to what fans have seen with previous generations, the name 'Xbox Series X' allows room for additional consoles in the future. We're excited to offer fans a glimpse at the next generation of gaming with Xbox Series X, but beyond that, we have nothing further to share."
The Xbox Series X launches in Holiday 2020 with Halo: Infinite as a launch title.

Okay, so it's Xbox, Xbox One, and Xbox. Got it!
I think we all knew they weren't naming a single model "Series X".
My guess is that the first model in series X launches in 2020 at the same price as PS5, but slightly more powerful. Then Series S (or whatever they decide to call it, probably diskless) launches a year later at a much lower price. Probably $200 less than the PS5.
That would allow them to have both the most powerful console, and the cheapest console in the generation. It makes a lot of sense to me from a business perspective. It'll be interesting to see if they can pull it off.
The problem with this, of course, is that Sony isn't going to just ignore MS. They can adjust pricing (and specs, at this point) to make it much harder for MS to out price/power the PS5. The one saving grace for XB could be that MS as a company seems to be committed to the console business, and they have nearly unlimited money to throw at making it a success. So, if they think it's worthwhile, they can subsidize the hardware very heavily. Also, since they're focused on the very high margin services business, it is likely easier for MS to justify large hardware subsidies than it is for Sony.
Just show me 'Series S' already to know If it's a good size for my bedroom where less power is ok for me
This is dumb, but Microsoft sort have brought this on to themselves. Granted that this is opinion, the "Xbox" name never had a natural consumer feel to it. It's more mechanical and sterile . It lacks imagination which is reflective in its lack of innovative and creative first party titles. Go figure. Microsoft was better off just naming their original console "Xbox" then naming every preceding console something different such as what Sega did. "Scarlett" would have been a much better name than "Xbox" (again.) To go into a store to ask "May I have a Switch" or "...PS5" feels natural. But to go into a store and ask "May I have an Xbox Series X?"... Come on, Microsoft, but maybe you can't do better than that.
This makes things even more confusing.
Doesn't the word ‘Series' already imply that this is a series? So that there's going to be a series of different X's? Is the XBox One X an X of the X series? If there's also a going to be a series of S's, Y's and D's it'll be busy. Or, do they mean they are making a series of X's, so all the X consoles they make together are a series? But if that's the case aren't all consoles a series? Let the confusion begin.
I think thats going be very confusing for non gamers. But you do what you want microsoft.
That will certainly take out any confusion, because they may have several models that play the same generation and you won't know by name. Also yes no confusion with previous Xbox.
Hahahah...It's the XBox One all over again.
Knowing Microsoft, it'll be called the Xbox Series SAD :P
