Nintendo Switch Outsells Xbox One in Europe - Sales

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 December 2019 / 3,383 Views

The Nintendo Switch has outsold the sales of the Xbox One in Europe, according to our estimates.

The Nintendo Switch sold 179,797 units for the week ending November 23, 2019 to bring its lifetime sales to 11.36 million units in Europe. This compares to the Xbox One with sales of 11.21 million units.

The Switch launched in Europe three years and four months (nearly 1,200 days) after the Xbox One. The Switch launched in Europe on March 3, 2017, while the Xbox One launched on November 22, 2013.

Nintendo's hybrid console is also on the verge of outselling the worldwide sales of the Xbox One. The Xbox One has sold 44.02 million units through November 23, 2019, while the Switch has sold 43.00 million units.

With the drop in sales year-over-year for the Xbox One and the increase in sales year-over-year for the Switch, the Switch will surpass the sales of the Xbox One in the next two weeks of hardware sales reports.

When do you think the Switch will outsell the Xbox One lifetime? After that is the SNES.

Worldwide, you mean? Potentially Black Friday week already, otherwise the week after.

And I agree with OTBWY, at the end of the season the SNES should be overtaken, too. Switch climbing up the ranks!

The Switch will be over 50 million by the end of this year.

Yes I meant to say worldwide. A shame there is no edit button.

Nobody there who could edit an edit button into these pages, by any chance?

I can add the "edit" button into the site updates / fixes list.

On the front page it says XBox One has 44.0 million in sales, but on the "Platform Totals" page it says it has 44.74, while Switch is the same 43.00 on both pages. What's up with that? I'm assuming the "Platform Totals" page needs adjustments since it still shows Xbox just barely ahead in Europe.

It is an error on the Platform Totals. I've notified Trucks about the issue and hopefully it will be fixed soon. My only guess for the issue is the adjustments down I've down for the Xbox One in the past were never corrected on the Platform Totals. Even the VGC Pro page is showing 44.0 million.

Depending on how good each console's Black Friday went, Switch may have already outsold XBox worldwide. It'll outsell it in the US eventually as well, though it might take another year or so.

xMetroid (on 01 December 2019)

Yea i don't think so, probably the week after Black friday cause Xbox still performs well during that week and i don't see Switch have 1 million more units sold. That's just too much. It could have done that with proper deal but we'll see.
