The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

 

Xbox One Vs. Xbox 360 USA:

Gap change in latest month: 314,618 – X360

Gap change over last 12 months: 3,442,104 – X360

Total Lead: 2,887,020 – X360

Xbox One Total Sales: 25,936,903

Xbox 360 Total Sales: 28,823,923

October 2019 is the 72nd month of the Xbox One being on sale. In the latest month the gap grew in favor of the Xbox 360 by 314,618 units when compared to the Xbox One when you align the launches of the two consoles. In the last 12 months the Xbox 360 has grown its lead by 3.44 million units. The Xbox 360 currently leads by 2.89 million.

Both consoles launched in November. The Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. The Xbox One has sold 25.94 million units, while its predecessor the Xbox 360 sold 28.82 million units.

Note: Xbox 360 currently leads by 14.63 million units worldwide when you align the launches.

You think that's a cliff, wait until next month, since both consoles launched in November. And there will be many more cliffs too, since 360 eventually reached 49 million in the US, and at the rate that XBOne is going, it'll be lucky to reach 30. We could end up seeing a 20 million gap by the end. Most of that gap will appear over the next 24 months. That's not falling off a cliff, that's leaping into an abyss.
