Electronic Arts announced EA Access will launch for the PlayStation 4 on July 24. The subscription service from EA is available now for the Xbox One and Windows PC. It is priced at $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year.

EA Access lets players experience Play First Trials, where they can play up to 10 hours of new EA games. Subscribers also get a 10 percent discount on game purchases, expansions, in-game items, and more.

"Yo Dawg, I hurd you like subscriptions. So I made it so you can subscribe to a demo service, while you subscribe to an online paywall to play our shitty microtransaction infested games online! We'll even give you a 10% discount on every lootbo... err, I mean surprise mechanics!"

Meanwhile at every other video game company on the planet "Here's a free demo. Please try our game."

EA's use of microtransactions sucks and that is likely to change with their next batch of games. However, the library you get access to for $30 a year is strong.

Between the library of games, discounts and trials of new games, its actually one of best examples of how a subscription service can be done. So even if you dislike EA, other publishers should copy EA when it comes to this.
