The revenue split between iOS and Android has started to shift towards Android as the percent of revenue increased to 35 percent in the first quarter of 2018. The game launched on Android six months after iOS.

Super Mario Run is one of the worst performing Nintendo mobile games as it has earned less than Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes.
43 percent of the revenue has come from the US alone.

Yeah that's really not that much and it's only revenue. iOS/Android takes 30% of that, then you have to subtract the dev costs and the costs for ad campaigns (I saw them on TV so not really cheap).
Wow, only $60 million? I guess Nintendo didn't figure out any casino-style monetization techniques to hook the whales on Super Mario Run. I tried it for a bit, but went right back to console Mario.
Well, they tried their experiment of not being scumbags with Mario Run and the scumbag route with Fire Emblem Heroes. Now that it's clear which one is a better business move, the future is decided.
Sadly there was like no loot boxes I believe..... You need to have some of those like FE Heroes. Or Buying certain items available only through real money like Animal Crossing. Or an easy way to purchase items like in Pokemom Go.
I dont really know what is the difference with ea to other smartphone games. But you have games that have a lot of cosmetics only available with real money. Or stuff like "you dont wanna wait the next day? Spend some real money to get it now" items. Or just stuff that makes you stronger in RPGS.
You gotta nickel-and-dime if you want the big bucks.
