Analyst: PlayStation VR to Sell 1.6M Units in 2016 - News

Analyst Piers Harding-Rolls from analyst firm IHS Screen Digest forecasts Sony's PlayStation VR will sell around 1.6 million units worldwide by the end of 2016. The analyst stated that would give Sony a 64 percent marketshare in the virtual reality market.
The success of PlayStation VR is due to the PlayStation 4 providing a " much bigger addressable market of "ready-to-go" consumers to address than PC-based solutions."
"When you take into account the total cost of ownership of using a PS4 as a source device, Sony's experience is around half the price of its PC-based competition," said Harding-Rolls.
"When Oculus and HTC announced their relative headset pricing, Sony was offered an open goal opportunity to take an early lead in the consumer VR market, which they have taken with aplomb."
Harding-Rolls added that he expects PlayStation 4 sales to reach 53 million units by the end of the year.
PlayStation VR launches in October 2016 for $399.

Yeah, today I was wondering myself how well PSVR could sell, I think that it'd be between 1 and 2 M, tough maybe the October release won't let it reach those numbers before the end of the year...
At the current price, i could see that happen. The momentum of PS4 should be able to give those sales.
I think it'll be a bit lower, but fair enough.
