Microsoft Profits $5B During Holiday Quarter, Games Software Increased 57% - News

Microsoft has released its earning report for the quarter ending December 31st. GAAP revenue decreased 10 percent to $23.8 billion, while net income dropped 15 percent to $5.0 billion.
"Businesses everywhere are using the Microsoft Cloud as their digital platform to drive their ambitious transformation agendas," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. "Businesses are also piloting Windows 10, which will drive deployments beyond 200 million active devices."
Xbox Live monthly active users grew 30 percent year-over-year to a record 48 million. Software sales increased 57 percent with strong sales of Halo 5: Guardians and Minecraft, according to GamesIndustry. Hardware sales declined slightly, due to a huge drop in Xbox 360 sales.
"It was a strong holiday season for Microsoft highlighted by Surface and Xbox," said Microsoft COO Kevin Turner. "Our commercial business executed well as our sales teams and partners helped customers realize the value of Microsoft’s cloud technologies across Azure, Office 365 and CRM Online."
