Dragon Quest XI to Release by May 2017, Will be Offline - News

Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest XI will be released no later than May 2017. Unlike its predecessor - Dragon Quest X - Dragon Quest XI will be played offline.
"We want people to play it," series creator Yuji Horii said. "We are making the most of the characteristics of each gaming machine."
Dragon Quest XI will be available for the PS4 and 3DS. A Nintendo NX release is also being considered.

On this day hopes and dreams were shattered.
"By May 2017" - That is a far cry from their initial estimated release date of Spring 2016, the Dragon Quest 30th anniversary. I mean, a full year difference is pretty substantial. I was hoping this time they wouldn't announce the Dragon Quest game years before it was going to be ready. That, for once, maybe they actually were going to pull off announcing it only nine or ten months before release.
