Sega to Skip E3 2015 - News

Sega has opted to skip this year's E3.
The publisher recently announced that it was moving away from producing console games, so it was expected that Sega wouldn't show up in force at this year's E3, but the publisher won't even have a booth on the show floor.
“Over the next months, Sega of America will be focusing on the restructure and relocation to southern California, and we have decided to not attend E3 with our own booth this year.
With the majority of our bigger titles launching later in 2015/2016, particularly those from our AAA studios Relic Entertainment (Company of Heroes), Sports Interactive (Football Manager), and Creative Assembly (Total War), we are concentrating our efforts for some of these major announcements after our relocation. Instead, we will be collaborating with our various business partners for this year's E3 show."

Hopefully, if they do continue to fade into oblivion, they don't take their IP with them. Many of them could find a good home with other third or first party companies.
I keep hoping the same thing happens with Capcom.
This is just sad. Too many Japanese companies exiting the console space. But I guess that's what happens when you prioritize quantity over quality.

I think we could still see something from them in the press conference of Sony or Microsoft.
Kinda sad that all the Japanese giants from my childhood are crumbling apart. At least Square-Enix is trying to make a come back.

Good the more developers leave the sinking console ship the better. All the DLC crap, unfinished games, online fee, cinematic experience, underpowered hardware nonsense that just wants to milk the consumers can go die in a fire. The industry is killing itself as it did decades ago. And thats a good thing hopefully it happens sooner rather than later and the peasents stop falling for marketing crap
I think at this point the only thing that could save Sega now would be a buyout by some of it's better developers or new people.

What is the problem with Japanese Developers?
Japan is a smaller market. American devs can easily develop for 'the entire western world'. Japanese culture is so unique that it's hard to develop a game with the budget to stand up to western games that also appeals to both Japan AND the outside.
That said, a lot of the shitty business models now used in the west were started in Japan. Sega and Capcom especially. Maybe they're getting what they deserve.
Still, I hope we don't lose Japanese games altogether.
That should never happen. Nintendo, Sony and Square Enix are way too big. Then there are smaller companies that actually have good business sense not to do this kind of shit (Koei Tecmo, NIS and Bandai Namco included).
That's exceptionally depressing.
I wish everyone would skip E3. It really brings nothing but angst.
Feeling this. It turns into a competition of "Who won E3?" as if it even matters. Colonial Marines was massive at it's E3 showing and look how it turned out! Also if not enough new exciting stuff is shown people internet riot. I am much preferring Nintendo Direct's method of reaching out to fans rather than a once a year blowout that is E3.
