Nvidia has unveiled their Android console, Shield, at GDC yesterday. The console is powered by Nvidia's Tegra X1. It supports 4K content and can stream content using Nvidia's Grid streaming service at 1080p and 60fps.

Nvidia also announced there are more than 50 titles that will be released for the Shield. The line-up of games include Crysis 3, Doom 3: BFG Edition, Metro Last Light, and Batman: Arkham Origins.

"Shield will change the way we enjoy digital entertainment at home," said Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang. "It’s an incredibly powerful, efficient and advanced living room entertainment device. It’s the best Android TV experience. And it can transform into a serious gaming machine. It’s made to game."

The Shield will be released this May with a controller for $199.

And this is going to last for the next few months before it will be outdated by another device.

this blows my mind.......pretty sure Microsoft got Backfired with this Google And Nvidia partnership with game developers...Google is planing to release the OS important functions like sideloading apps like Linux does...so to me this is the best OS they have for ARM cpu's...
i really wish this OS would be x86 supported like ConsoleOS and add to my disappointed that ConsoleOS was based Intel android version for ATom x86 cpu's...it would be great for AMD cpu's...but were stuck with windows and LINUX ...so the reason i say backfired for Microsoft of wasting their money of buying OnePlus OS (hacker version of Android famous known as CyanogenMod) they should known Google has ace their sleeve its sideloading apps too...

That presentation nearly approached Sony E3 2006 and Nintendo E3 2008 levels of awkward.

So they're positioning it as a general entertainment device first and a gaming device second. Unlike Xb one, this strategy might work a bit better for what is effectively a set top box, and Nvidia isn't trying to reposition an existing gaming product into a general entertainment product. People should focus on Android from a gaming perspective. Android is basically Linux, so any game that can run on Linux will be able to run on Android without too much fuss.

I agree. On another note, wasn't Nvidia the one that said that doing graphics cards for consoles was a waste of time? When they lost the bid against AMD for the next gen consonles? LMAO....
