Sony has had a runaway success with their 8th generation home console, the PlayStation 4, selling more than 19 million units to date. Strategy Analytics has released report that they predict the PlayStation 4 to sell 80 million units worldwide by 2019.

They say the PlayStation 4 sales have been "on path to reproduce the success of the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii." This is compared to the Xbox One, which they predict to sell 57 million units by 2019. They also predict Wii U sales to hit less than 20 million units by 2019.

I would have put the Xbox One closer to 50 million.

Well 40% lead for the ps4 is about the current trend unless you know something the rest of us and the analysts don't know. Or unless of course you don't think the ps4 will reach 80m. Please do share your secret information and methodology ;)

Yeah, 30-35 million for XBO is more realistic.

Personally I think the XB1 can hit 70 million lifetime, while the PS4 hits 100 million.

No amount of price cuts will put X1 on even ground

Well, if the sales keep up like they have, then it could happen. Still, I would hope by then we would have gone over to the next generation of consoles.

I highly doubt I'll be buying a PS4 this gen. My X1 will be fine. I've pretty much abandoned my WiiU already.

If there was a competition for picking the worst consoles, you win.
