Child of Light Becomes Profitable, Sequel Possible - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 20 November 2014 / 4,392 Views

Ubisoft's experiment title Child of Light has turned a profit. Far Cry 3 creative director Patrick Plourde stated while it is not profitable like Assassin's Creed, but the profits means a sequel is now doable, at the GameON: Finance conference and reported by GamesIndustry.

"It's not as profitable as Assassin's Creed is profitable, but it's profitable enough that we would have been able to fund a sequel," said Plourde. "Or if it had been my company, I would be driving a Ferrari and doing donuts."

"I can't explain everything, but the main reason why I got greenlit on the project was because I had carte blanche for making Far Cry 3," Plourde said. "I didn't want to make Far Cry 3, but they said, 'Pat, if you do that and help build that brand, we're going to give you a free shot at the game you want.'"

Glad to hear that. It was Ubisoft's best game this year. I'm not sure I want a sequel though. Perhaps if it was a different story in the same universe rather than continuing the current one I will be there day 1.

ZombiU had profit, but your just too "Ubisoft" to make a sequel for a system with juvenile audiences. Screw you Ubisoft
