Analyst: PS4 Sales Down in August, Xbox One and Wii U Sales Jump - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 09 September 2014 / 13,752 Views

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has stated that console sales in the US has increased for the Xbox One and Wii U, while PlayStation 4 sales have decreased. The shift in sales is due to the release of Madden NFL 15 and the continued momentum from Mario Kart 8.

Xbox One sales are expected to have increased by 14 percent month-over-month to 150,000 units, while the PS4 dropped by 14 percent to 175,000 units. Sales for the Wii have more than doubled year-over-year to 65,000 units.

"[PS4 still outsold Xbox One] despite the June introduction of a $400 Xbox One without Kinect and the August release of a $400 Madden NFL 15 bundle that includes a download code [for Madden], essentially bundling the game for free," said Pachter.

"Looking ahead, Xbox One hardware sales should see a meaningful lift in September driven by a one-week free-game promotion for Xbox One purchases," he added.

Pachter also estimates that the Xbox One Madden NFL 15 bundle sold about 50,000 units.

dear patcher, you're so lucky they pay you when you clearly can't do your job.

Well. This article is missing the part that explains where he gets his numbers from.. Most of them came from contacting retailers and other trends.. He didn't just make this up. He did his job.

Title is also misleading because it is comparing PS4/XBO sales to July while the Wii U is compared to August last year. 65k for the Wii U would be a decline from July.

Patcher is not NPD, stop with the poor patcher. PS4 rules, that's all folks.

Neither system is doomed. The XB1 isn't going anywhere. Microsoft has money to burn. The fact they want to pay $2 billion for Minecraft is proof of this. Hopefully they don't do that and buy Take-Two Interactive instead.

Pachter thinks XB1 will do well? IT'S DOOMED!!!!

Misleading header. Comes off as if this site has data to show a decline in ps4 sales, not a quote from the Pact.

Even VGC doesn't know the difference between the Wii and Wii U. This is a sad day in VGC history.

Xone is essentially $340 with all these free game bundles. One sided domination by PS4 has been great for xbox fans, they're getting amazing deals.

that is until they all want to try out kinect and have to buy the standalone kinect camera for $150, that amazing offer is only good if they don't want kinect!

I don't get your comment. Doesn't this article say that the analyst is still predicting the PS4 to sell more?

This article is talking about sales, how is anyone butthurt? Sound like a fanboy (even if you own 2 consoles, you still don't have all 3).
