When DS sales reach its peak 5 years after release, 3DS is already die.

If Nintendo didn't screw up the 3DS launch the gap would probably be smaller

The 3DS had a far better launch than the DS, which Nintendo screwed all the way until the Lite finally came out.

A surprising number of people think it can scrape 100 million. I think it's possible, but it will require it to be on the market for a long while, and a really compelling redesign. A Japanese 2DS release might help, too.

Least it put up a good fight but its father is just too strong!

The DS is impossible to beat any way, for anything.

PS2 beat it in a smaller market. Far, far, FAR better games, too.

Not surprising in the least. The 3DS is definitely in need of a re-design, especially in Japan.
Now, that won't make it competitive with the DS, but at least it could make it competitive with the GBA. The DS is extremely hard to beat.

Probably won't outsell the DS but it WILL outsell the GBA, maybe even the gameboy

GameBoy have sold 120,000,000... is difficult.
Maybe will outsell, but only if the new console resale in 2019-2020, and coming one 3DS with second stick.
For now, i think 100,000,000 for 3DS.

Holy crap, I had no idea the 3DS was doing that much worse... I guess the handheld market really is dying.
