Capcom Ships 4.5M Units of Resident Evil 6 - News

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 6 has shipped 4.5 million copies worldwide to retail. This is the most copies Capcom has shipped for a game at launch in its history. The previous record was set by Resident Evil 5 in 2009 which shipped 4.4 million copies.
Capcom expects to ship seven million copies of Resident Evil 6 by the end of their fiscal year which ends March 31, 2013. That would make it the bestselling Capcom of all time. Capcom also revealed that the Resident Evil franchise has sold 50 million units as of June 30, 2012.
"One of Capcom's best-known game series, Resident Evil has recorded cumulative sales of more than 50 million units since the first title was released in 1996," said the press release. "These sales figures demonstrate that Resident Evil is just as popular today as it was 15 years ago when the first title made its debut."

They may have shipped 4.5mil but will there be 4.5mil in ACTUAL sales from the gamers. Capcom already made their money so of course they are happy.

I would buy this game but I remember getting screwed over because I bought RE5 like a few months before the gold edition came out
I will wait until next year when the gold edition comes with all the dlc, I am tired of getting screwed over and now that the global economy is dead I cannot afford to waste money
You didn't get screwed by Capcom but rather from yourself :P
If you had bought the game when it was new then this wouldn't have happened. It will take some time before you see Resi 6 in a special package like that so it's much better to buy it now and enjoy the game and the online community it will have from now on.

lol, it's Resident Evil 3 all over again. I remember them expecting huge numbers for that after the success of 2 only for it to flop and be in the bargain bin after a few months.

Maybe flop was a bit of a strong word but it certainly didn't live up to expectations and i'd bet most of the 3.72m copies were sold at discount. All I'm saying is I expect 6 to follow in 3's footsteps. They expect it to be thier best selling game ever in 6 months? Thats a tall ask.

Resident Evil 6 will go on and sell 6-9 mill in lifetime and then be the most sold Resident Evil game to date.
It will beat Resi 5 and NO Resi 3 was not a flop and you do not know much about Resident Evil so please just stop writing.
