Sony: Uncharted Franchise has Sold 17.32 Million Units - News

Sony has announced that its PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita flagship franchise has sold 17.32 million units across its four releases as of April 12, 2012. These numbers most likely refer to sold to retailers, rather than sold to consumers. The first in the series, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, launched in November 2007. The series most recent release, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, had shipped 3.8 million units worldwide when it launched last November.

According to VGChartz the series has sold a combined 14.47 million units at retail, which would put 2.83 million units on store shelves. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has sold 4.21 million units to date, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has sold 5.56 million units and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has sold 4.17 million units. The PlayStation Vita launch title, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, brings up the rear with sales of 0.53 million.

Sony has also announced a Game of the Year Edition of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception which will include all of the downloadable content released to date.

not bad for Uncharted series.

Over 2 mil on shelves is just too high for me. 1-1.5mil on shelves strikes me as more likely...

But still, good for the series!

"which would put 2.83 million units on store shelves." For real?? That number is way to high, at most I bet that there are 500K or even 1M; but almost 3M??? That is a BIG NOPE

I believe there is an official map that shows numbers for specific game releases adding up to 17.32 so why the speculation? Just go to the Playstation Blog for the original info and awesome series depicting map/chart.

The most recent release int he series is not Uncharted 3.
The number could probably include digital sales (Sony would know) so the number of units on shelves is less.

This is pretty cool news; it is wonderful to see such an awesome franchise doing so well. This game provided such a wonderful cinematic experience and one that is not easy to forget. The opening cinematic of 3 still inspires chills.

I can't imagine there are many DF's sitting on shelves. UC2 will still be moving units and UC3 still has good legs, and GA is the leading game on PSV. I can certainly see 2.83 million mostly across the last 3 games fl;oating out there in retail land. So I think the VGC agregate estimate looks pretty good.

Digital sales? Only PS Vita have digital version.

well 1,2 and 3 you can't buy digitally.. so the Vita game sold 500,000 physical and 2.82 million Digitally?... on a system with only 1.9million users.. OOOKKKKAAYYYY then

yeah there is not much sense according to Vgchartz numbers. I bet UC2 is already 6M and UC3 is 5.5M and UC1 5M
