Move Shipments Reach 10.5 Million Worldwide - News

Sony's Gabe Ahn has announced, during a PlayStation Move dedicated panel at GDC that the peripheral has reached 10.5 million units shipped to retailers since its release back in September 2010, 18 months ago. The last figure revealed put the Move at 8.8m back in early June last year at E3, suggesting just under 2 million units have shipped over the last 9 months, which included the holiday season.
Gabe has since clarified that the figure includes that of the Nav controller, further suggesting a much lower userbase than the 10.5 million figure. According to internal sales estimates here at VGChartz, there are between 6 to 7 million Move compatible PS3's in the wild, with a software attach rate between 1.3 - 1.8. Whilst this is lower than Kinect's 18 million shipped figure (16m sell through), Gabe noted that the PlayStation Move has been successful for Sony and that they're happy with its performance.
During GDC, Sony also announced the release date for the highly anticipated Move exclusive title Sorcery, due May 22nd.

Well IMO, when its all done it will probably find its way into ~ 10 million homes, with ~ 16 million shipment. Not too shaby IMO, and it warants itself as a minor success ( and likely a profitable one).
16m might be a bit of a stretch at this point, it's going to just about manage 2m shipped over the last 12 months. Has 5.5m to go before 16m ...
Still though, as long as it's made them a profit (which I agree, I'm sure it has) then it's done what Sony set out to do.

WITH Nav controller ? That's not good at all then. 6 million unique owners at most sounds more likely.
Thats just silly pezus. It is damn near impossible to play killzone 3 or resident evil 5 without a nav controller. Not only is it uncomfortable to hold a duelshock with one hand but the analog stick is far from reach while holding it like that.
so your saying its completely natural to hold a controller sideways with one hand. Considering the fact that the nav controller was 15$ throughout the holidays in gamestop and amazon, i think its quite likely move owners would buy a nav controller rather then attempt to use a duelshock, sideways, with one hand.
I have move and I like it. It is very good with certain games and meh with others. Ultimately im a bit disappointed - I thought sales would be a bit better than this.
I've owned a PS3, and I know many others that own one as well. None have a Move. As well, I know several people that work in various popular electronics stores, and they've told me that the product just isn't selling at all anymore.
I guess that's what Sony gets for creating a capable piece of hardware with no idea what to do with it and how to market it. It's pretty much dead in the water.
I'm surprised that it sold that much, i think its doing ok it sales, but honestly this isn't Sony's cup of tea so what do you expect
I only have a single Move without the nav unit, since you can just use your DS3 as the Nav controller. It was fun enough for Child of Eden, and I might give Sorcerer a go, but i'm really just tired of motion gaming in general regardless of how impressive the Move tech is. I even find myself sticking to games that use the classic controller or sideways wiimote on the Wii. When I saw Razer release a motion controller for PC I could have sworn I saw my life flash before my eyes.
I'm sure there are other individuals such as myself that don't have a nav unit so I imagine there's a greater disparity between the two devices than is implied.
I like my Move but I did kind of have to go out of my way to get fun out of it. LBP2 is awesome with Move KZ3 was good Child of Eden is cool as well looking forward to Sorcery
Sony move is one of my favorite aspects of my ps3. Sports Champions is one of my favorite ps3 exclusive, and the sharpshooter makes killzone 3 bearable to play through. More people need to buy this device. It truely is a blast to play, especially if you don't own a wii. Can't wait for sorcery.
