Mass Effect Achievement Guide

NightstrikerX’s Achievement Guide – Mass Effect

Medal of Honor - Complete 1 Mass Effect Playthrough on any setting - 100G

-          Simple Enough, Complete Mass Effect on any setting. I recommend Casual if your going though the game the first time. As you’ll be getting the other achievements as you go along and you’ll be needing those during later, more difficult playthoughs.

Medal of Heroism - Complete Feros - 25G

-          Feros is one of the first three main quest planets you’ll have to go though. I recommend it after finding Liara, and before Noveria in terms of difficulty overall.

Distinguished Service Medal - Complete Eden Prime - 25G

-          Eden Prime is the prelude planet and your very first mission. Go though the planet and you’ll finish it in no time netting you a quick and easy 25G.

Council Legion of Merit - Complete Virmire - 25G

-          You’ll obtain the option to go to Virmire after completing 2 of the 3 main quest planets. (Feros, Noveria, Liara). I recommend visiting this planet last as it has substantial plot importance and having a high intimidate or charm skill is a must.

Honorarium of Corporate Service - Complete Noveria - 25G

-          Noveria is one of the first three main quest planets you’ll have to go though. I recommend it last for both story and overall difficult reasoning.

Long Service Medal - Complete 2 Mass Effect Playthroughs on any setting - 25G

-          Complete Mass Effect Twice. It’s a good idea to try getting the Distinguisted Combat Medal while doing this. Play though the game with a character you’ve already beaten the game with to try getting the Power Gamer Achievement at the same time.

Distinguished Combat Medal - Complete 1 Mass Effect playthrough on the Hardcore difficulty setting. Do not change the setting. - 25G

-          Complete the game on hardcore, while it sounds difficult. Playing the game again using a previous character makes this a lot easier. It’s also possible to beat Hardcore with a brand new character. You can change the difficulty before you go to Eden Prime. (Prior to talking to Nihlus). But after that you cannot change the difficulty setting at all.

Medal of Valor - Complete 1 Mass Effect playthrough on the Insanity difficulty setting. Do not change the setting. - 50G

-          Complete the game on Insanity, Definitely get a level 50 character before starting this. I’ve tried starting a new character on insanity. It doesn’t work. For the best success, have all your favorite squad members outfitted with the best weapons and armor in the game. Spectre Master Gear Weapons X and Colossus X Armor. With that you should be able to beat the game without too much difficulty on Insanity.

Scholar - Find all primary Alien: Council Races, Extinct Races and Non-Council Races codex entries - 25G

-          A Easy achievement that is often missed. Here is a detailed guide on how to achieve the achievement before leaving for your first planet.

-          On the Normandy

-          Prothean -> Talk to Nihlus during your conversation with him and Captain Anderson aboard the ship just before Eden Prime.

-          On Eden Prime

-          Geth -> Talk to Ashley when you first meet her.

-          On Citadel

-          Volus-> As soon as you are on the Citadel go to the Presidium. In the Embassies, find the volus and elcor office and talk to ambassador Din Korlack.

-          Elcor -> Talk to Embassador Calyn

-          Rachni->Talk to Avina, next to the krogan statue. This completes the Aliens: Extinct Races.

-          Hanar-> Talk to Opold, the hanar shopkeeper in the Emporium.

-          Keepers-> Talk to Avina next to the keeper.

-          Use Citadel Rapid Transport to go to the Citadel Towers

-          Salarians -> Go to the hearing. This Completes the Aliens: Council Races in the Codex.

-          Krogan -> Talk to Barla von in Financial District.

-          Quarians -> Talk to Wrex in C-sec. Go and become a Spectre.

-          Batarians -> Talk to Capt Anderson about past mission with Saren. Scholar achievement unlocked.

Completionist - Complete the majority of the game - 25G

-          Complete 75% of the game. Amounts to about 15 missions and 50 Assignments. You do not have to do the collect X missions to get this achievement. Be sure to have Wrex, Garrus, and Tali in your party to get their side-quests as well.

Tactician - Complete playthrough with shield damage greater than health damage - 25G

-          The easiest way to do this is to have Predator L X armor equipped on an Engineer. But playing smart, avoiding HP damage and equipping high shield armors with shield boosters on them usually nets you this achievement. If your having trouble, remember to max out skills like Barrier or Electronics first. In order to get a strong shield early in the game. That usually helps. If your still having problems, start a career with a existing high level character who can equip armors with very strong shields, and run though the game on casual.

Medal of Exploration - Land on an uncharted world - 50G

-          Land on a UNC world. Many Missions will net you this achievement. They usually start with UNC before the mission. IE – UNC Listening Post Alpha

Rich - Exceed 1,000,000 Credits - 25G

-          Get over 1, 000, 000 Credits. Fairly easily done post level 30. Sell everything you don’t use, Weapon Mods seems to sell for high amounts and are dropped often by Geth.

Dog of War - Register 150 organic enemy kills - 25G

-          Kill 150 organics, non-hostile organics such as the gas bags on eden prime do count. Other creatures that count are Torian Creepers, Rachni and Krogans.

Geth Hunter - Register 250 Synthetic enemy kills - 25G

-          Kill 250 Synthetics, so any creature that falls under the Synthetic category. Turrets, Geth, and Drones.

Soldier Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the Alliance soldier squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Ashley as a Squad Member. Fairly Easy considering you get her early in the game.

Sentinel Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the Alliance sentinel squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Kaiden as a Squad Member. Fairly Easy considering you get him early in the game.

Krogan Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the Krogan squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Wrex as a Squad Member. Moderately difficult considering you get him later. For best results, go see him at C-sec the moment you encounter him at Chora’s Den or when Barla Von tells you to. Before getting Garrus. Do all citadel side-assignments after getting him.

Turian Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the turian squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Garrus as a Squad Member. Moderately difficult considering you get him later in the game. For best results, go see him before at the Medi-centre right after Chora’s Den. Do all Citadel side-assignments after getting him.

Quarian Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the querian squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Tali as a Squad Member. Moderately difficult. As you get her later in the game. Complete all Citadel side-assignments after getting her.

Asari Ally - Complete the majority of the game with the asari squad member - 20G

-          Complete 75% of the game. (15 missions, 50 assignments) with Liara as a Squad Member. Difficult seeing as she is always the last party member to join. Rescue her imminently following the Citadel Main quest. Do NOT complete any assignments in between. Rescue her, finish Feros and Noveria then begin going though side-quests before finishing Vidmire.

Power Gamer - Reach 50th level with one character - 20G

-          Requires 238,100 XP, not too excessively difficult. May require more than 1 play though. I finished the game on casual, and then moved onto hardcore to achieve it. Be sure to murder everything in sight, and finish as much assignments as possible.
Extreme Power Gamer - Reach 60th level with one character - 50G

-          Requires 862,100 XP, Slightly more difficult. May require more than 1 play though. I finished the game on casual, and then moved onto hardcore to achieve it. Be sure to murder everything in sight, and finish as much assignments as possible.

-          Be some sort of saint. Level your charm high and use Charm whenever possible.

Paramour - Complete any romance subplot - 10G

-          Complete the romance of Liara, Ashley, or Kaiden. Depending if Shepard is male or female. Talk to the person after every main story-quest. (Once after feros, noveria, liara’s rescue, and vidmire). Don’t do anything that would end the romance. (IE – killing Ashley instead of Kaiden if you’re romancing Ashley.) And you will get the scene prior to going to Ilos.

Spectre Inductee - Become a Spectre - 15G

-          Complete the Citadel main quest, and expose Saren. You’ll get this shortly after Tali joins your party.

-          Either convince Wrex to stand down using charm or intimidate, or convince saren to kill himself. You’ll need 12 in either talent to get this achievement.

Search and Rescue - Locate Dr. T’Soni in the Artemis Tau cluster - 10G

-          Rescue Liara. One of the three main story-line planets you’ll get after the citadel.
