No Gearbox, to my knowledge, Asian data is tracked for the PS3 (and the DS and 360 are bigger there anyways). As for South America, I don't believe the PS3 has even launched there yet.

Truthfully, the PS2 did have a much larger base. At the time it was around 78M, NOT 130M or 150M or whatever the figure is today. So, it was a little more than double the number units the 360 and PS3 had on the market when GTA IV launched.

The funniest part is that this show how much the PS3s sales suck balls compared to the PS2. Everyone is buying a Wii or DS. I guess that's why R* is bringing GTA IV: Chinatown Wars to the Nintendo DS!

What's this world coming to!? The DS!? Shocking! Unbelievable! Not only does R* dis Sony with their deal with MS. Now they have to dis Sony a second time with their deal with Nintendo! Grrr!

vgcgamer.... have you consider the 220k boost japan gave it week one that these games dont have yet?

or the 57k week after...

or the 31k week after...

or the 20k week after that...

or the 12k week after that...

or the 7k week after that...

or the 6k week after that...

or the 5k week after that...

for a total of about 360k that SA has that these haven't had a chance to get yet....

Look at it that way and there is no way the 4 has worst sales than SA.

That's right MH. If you want to see some insane sales numbers, just take a peek at SA's numbers on the PS2 alone. 9 weeks after release, SA torches GTA IV in sales (against the 360 and PS3....COMBINED!). Where GTA IV sales have dropped like a rock, SA sales rocked week-in and week-out. Better game IMO, graphics aside.

Bring on MGS4 and Mafia 2.

The United States and United Kingdom are the two biggest markets for GTA4, and the 360 has a great userbase advantage in those two countries. So yes, Munkeh is correct.

Not likely, given that San Andreas launched to lesser numbers than that. But it should be one of the best selling PS3 games in Japan.

Wow, it's already 4th best-selling PS3 game, and only been out for a week! A true masterpiece of gaming. I would recommend it to anyone who can handle the rather gratuitous swearing/violence/drugs/sex blah blah blah...

Wow, that's a useful comment JSR.
I doubt it will beat the 360 version due to the large difference in userbase, but I think that this is a game that will have great legs, as most people getting a next-gen console will get GTA with it

I can't get it out my head!!! I got another hour in today, and it is just getting better and better. I know I am going to start to get into the major firefights soon, and I cant wait (though I do need some armour and an assault rifle). This game is just incredible

It is not the sharpness of the graphics, but the art design, and just looking at Algonquin from across the river was amazing. My first night's play was only 3 hours 20, but they were an amazing 3 hours

Got mine yesterday morning. 14 hours of play and 22% completion so far. Very good game, worth every penny, but over-rated. The Graphics are not a 10 -- no way, not ever. GT5:P and Uncharted blow it away. Heck, even SSD:HD blows it away. Further, the innovation is played up far too much by reviewers; the core gameplay is effectively identical to previous games. Still, a great game, and I'm enjoying it.
