Wow, terrible sales. I'm surprised by this. I suppose though, it's not a new game. However, the first two have to be new to a huge percentage of Wii owners.

darkgemini posted 11/09/2009, 09:21
Well, it's not so bad. For a rerelease with just new controls are 200.000 unist worldwide extrem well. And I'm sure, the trilogy will pass it...The 3 games sold very good, and now nintendo and retro get some money, with minimal cost....

AND: i think chrismas will help the trilogy, too....

Why are all you people so sad about these sales? Or if I should put this way, why are you even care how much this sales? I can say like this. Both Nintendo and Retro Studio dosent care a bit about how much this sales beacuse they have already gain a profit from the time when the actuall orginal games where realesed. They are just realesing this for the fans, nothing more. They are already working on the next games.

Remember - this is a game that is going to sale for a long time. Even in a year, some new Wii customer are going to buy this one just beacuse of the bargain price.

So the sales of this game isnt so important to Nintendo or Retro Studio, they are not like these third party puplisher which saying that every core game is a "test" and forcing people to buy they games, like activision.

Why are you so worried about this metroid game compilation sales?
All of the three games included did so good in sales when were released (first two on the Gamecube and the last one on the wii). Total sales for this three games are over 5,5 million units!! So, another 150k units is a success thinking that the game was released one week ago. Nintendo and retro studios 'll make some prfit with this sales for sure, because are not buit from the ground up. Be happy!! Just compare sales when the games are news!!

I got 3, paid 50 Euros. I feel now ripped off and will not buy Triology.

I'm beginning to hate my own continent. Every game that owns this year gets absolutely terrible sales over here, except Batman. Stupid consumers in stupid Europe.
Message | Report
Hobowan posted 10/09/2009, 07:32
trouble is in europe, where i am anyway, is that the game simply isnt anywhere to buy! GAME has some, gamestation sold out, the 3 HMVs near me didnt even have this or cursed mountain on the shelves all week! i asked, and the 2 hmv stores in my town only ordered 1 copy between them. it would sell a lot more if retailers acknowledged its existance! i bet its the same in a lot of other areas too.

Everwhere i go in the uk, retailers have all but abandoned shelf space for mature titles, using the wii shelf space only to shift the fitness games and fodder :(

It will kill most of the great games of this type coming out on the wii in the next 12 months...mark my words :(

Maybe as the wii market fills up with more mature games this year things may change but...

MarioGalaxy posted 10/09/2009, 07:27
KSV,

Nothing is wrong with European people. I wrote onthe forum a few days ago and i predicted good sales for this game, but no as spectacular as some people thought. That's easy: Thre are three greats games on there, but all of them are old. No new games except for the controls (that are fantastic). So if you have Metroid Prime 3, and played the first two games on the Gamecube, there are no much reasons to repeat it, because the third game has the wii controls instead. That's the reason european sales are just decent for the firs week.

Man I love these games, I never completed Echoes, but this time it's gonna be a treat. I agree with mandisc, I can't get over how fabulously smooth, intuitive, fast, accurate and overall great these controls are. :) They may just be my personal most comfortable control mechanics in any game ever.

If you are a fan of Metroid in the least, even if you have played them all before, you owe it to yourself to get this unique boxset. The first two games alone with updated controls and graphics is worth the price of admission alone. Plus, you can't beat the price.

115k is, in my opinion, a great opening for this game. Maybe half that number in Others, even a quarter first week, would put it in line for 200k+ lifetime. Which, considering, is pretty good for a New Playcontrol game.

This is a good opening! After one week out and that in only America, only 885k left to a million!

Next week when there also will be PAL numbers, 200k or more will be sold so far. With best of luck, 500k in a few weeks.

MAybe. but the metroid sales are for metroid games very good, MP 3 reached 1,5 Mo and topped classics like super metroid .

I think nintendo should be happy, when the trilogy reach 0,5 - 0,7 Mio worldwide, I think, this is good for a rerelease.... And with 1 Mio or more, that would be great :)

One of the best deals in gaming that I have seen since the Orange Box.

3 phenomenal full length games that still hold up against the test of time. The gameplay found in Prime 1 and 3 are still better than most FPS games out today. I haven't played Prime 2 yet but Prime 1 and 3 have the best combos of action, exploration, and puzzles that are possible in a FPS in my mind. While it may not have the best of one thing it has a very nice blend of everything which provides a complete experience.

If you think the controls are slow, you should set the controls to "advanced". In fact, you should change the controls to "advanced" regardless.

thetonestarr posted 26/08/2009, 08:54
If you think the controls are slow, you probably need to change your settings.

I've noticed this is MUCH more fun, and easier, to play without WM+ attached, and the wiimote condom removed. The controller feels too cumbersome with that stuff.

Voltaire posted 26/08/2009, 08:10
Im about half way trhough Prime 1 now. A great game, and the controls are actually a bit slow and dated. Still works great though, as the game isnt as action heavy as others.
Message | Report
thetonestarr posted 26/08/2009, 04:41
Also, it took me about a half-hour to decide how I liked the controls the best, but I think I've finally got it decided.

I'm going with standard control and lock on/free aim turned OFF. I wish we had more control sensitivity settings than just those three (I'd prefer something between medium and high, basically), but it's not bad.

I'm glad I only ever played through each of these games once, because now that I'm playing through them again, a lot of it seems so distant, thus giving it a new, fresh feel again.

The first one is a classic, redefines the franchise and the genre, and has the best atmosphere out of the 3
The second one is more challenging, more complex, better in many ways
The 3rd one is the culmination, better grafix, more complex story, same level of challenge...but not as appealing
Overall this is a must have for every gamer out there...you should buy a Wii just for these 3 games
