24.99...now that is funny...this game still sells at 59.99, and why would Microsoft cut the prices for a game whose sales are improving?

Game is good, and word of mouth is definitely selling this title now. After IGN and 1up tried their hardest to make this a failure, the game is anything but. Once the ps3 version is released, I can easily see this topping 1 mil total. Which is definitely a good profit for SE, and a sequel will probably follow.

so its a budget priced game now on the shelfs, if it was still 39.99 it wouldnt have done half what it is now, im seriously thinking of getting this but i have 4rth dvd on LO to finish, and i have to finish ES

I installed the game and I admit there is much texture popin, also the loading is still pretty heavy and the VA is atrocious.

All said it has subtitles so now it is instantly better and as with all SaGa team games they tried something different and to be honest I really like what they did. They still kept it turn based menu combat which I love but they added so much more to it, overall I like what they did here.

Simulcarium -

Peljaa is probably closer to what it is than GS. The game is far from perfect, but far better than what's been lobbied at it.

Fundamentally, it's better than Eternal Sonata. There is so much to like about the game. It's fresh & innovative, which is such a rarity, it seems.

I haven't ever read an IGN or Gamespot review since the 32-bit days.. thats how relevant they are to todays gamers.

Only people that take that site seriously are gaming wannabes who feel they have to own a console so they can belong somewhere.

Sorry.. :(

@jacob_paet

People have been disappointed with SE for making remakes...not because they made Last Remnant. I love Square (not so much an Enix fan)...have for a long time, and couldn't wait for Last Remnant to be released. I wasn't disappointed either, the game totally rocks.

Since you only like the FF series...there are the 3 13's on the way...there is also 4 Kingdom Hearts games on the way...they will not make another Chrono game, and have stated that in the past. Also, if you are an old school fan you should be pleased that their is a new Parasite Eve coming. The tactics games rock on the gba and ds, you don't need one on a 360 or PS3.

Also...it's not that most Square fans aren't interested in Last Remnant...it's that most Square fans either own a PS3 or will get one when 13 comes out, and they refuse to get a 360 thinking that it's not an RPG console. They got into Square when it was purely a Sony company, and they are also mainly Sony fans. The 360 is the RPG console of this gen, and that's not gonna change for several years. Till RPG fans realize that, sales of RPG games will continue to be low.

@jacob_paet

Yeah right. Fans have been crying over the lack of new IPs from Square. Now they've released 3 new IP games in 2008 with one of them being the best DS game of the year (TWEWY) and what has it changed? Nothing! Fans keep complaining.

Fans complain what Square makes so many remakes but at the same time they keep praying for a FFVII remake. Makes sense.

You people dont know what you want from Square. No matter what they do you keep complaining.

- remakes = bad
- no remakes = bad
- no new IPs = bad
- new IPS = bad
- A game by Nomura = bad
- A game without Nomura's involvement = bad

Quit bitching already and just forget what Square-Enix even exists. I dont think it's that hard.

battle system is a tragedy too
u cannot decide what exactly u gonna do.
and game will be extreme difficult when you "link" too many weak creeps which means more u fight weaker u are.
also the story line is shallow. u forced to do many side quests and interrupt the main story so much.

Hopefully this game continues to flop. Square-Enix released a clearly unfinished product to market, and yet again disappointed their fanbase with a poorly-written story. The "M-rating" may appear to be "badass" but this is not nearly enough to guarantee a successful game in the West. Glad to see it's had no luck in Japan either.

Awesome game. I bought this for $30 during Amazons mega-deal on the game.

DO NOT LISTEN TO REVIEWERS!!!!

I cannot believe they rated this game lower than IU or Enchanted Arms.

I'm not very far in, but the game is incredibly good. Far from perfect, but head & shoulders above IU.

I'll be doing the official VGC review on the game, but it's shaping up to be one of the better X360 JRPGs out there - better than Eternal Sonata so far.

Egghead posted 06/12/2008, 12:10
Weaker opening in NA than ToV or IU, but the second weeks have been stronger. Offcourse, it released late in its first week, so this is no indication of how good its long term sales are. With that said, its doing MUCH better in EU than IU is.

Also, Japan is going to important, right now its on track with ToV, but offcourse will it just pull another IU there? Will the holiday help, or will Sonys recent performance negate it all. Then again, Blue Dragon sold plenty of software and hardware despite the Wii and the PS3 launching.

I think 150k Japan, 200k NA (IU is at 160k already, it also shot up this week by 11k) and 120k (its already at 70k there) EU for a total of 470k, which are good considering this is a UE game and that there will be PS3 and PC versions.

@Egghead
Where is this marketing that the game is getting in NA? I see a few magazine ads but no TV commercial

The Last Remnant is a much much better game than the Lost Odyssey...great game...suffer some terrible frame rate issue during the battle and lagging a bit which doing combos....tha frustrated me a little...however this is definately a must buy for all JRPG fans...the best so far in this console generation. Hope all those issues wll be fixed when it relase o PS3

This has started better than IU, so it will hit 500k easily, especially given that its getting so much marketing in NA

Overall, considering the UE3s use, thatll be a nice profit

Lost Odyssey was a great game , the best JRPG of Next-Generation ... i hope that The Last remnant is worthy of a masterpiece by Hironobu Sagakuchi.

is this on all formats combined ?

I can see this doing Lost Odyssey Numbers on 360 alone since I feel this game appeals to the Lost Odyssey crowd especially with those button timings during battles

well, i think the U3 engine isnt reall the best for RPGs, the framerate is the same, if youre playing with 15 persons on screen, or 2. (or if you play on 1080p or just 480p.. *meh*)

@slimebeast:

i predict 80% on rankings, and 500k in lifetime.

this game just reeks of "old Skool" even the battle music sounds old skool. Graphically its nice but the frame rate seems like its there on purpose.. as it stutters when not much is happening on screen yet maintains full framerate during hectic scenes.. O.o

I installed this onto the HDD but the texture pop up is still there.. it only just decreases the load time and makes the 360 quieter.

Overall this aint a game for the casual so I wonder how this will sell. I'm not warmed by it yet but I can imagine the game picking up after many hours..

played it for around 2 hours.

at first: the performance is like Lost Odyssey - much loading time, some frame issues.
(and plopping texturedetails, like UT3 on PS3.)

now the good thingy:
the battle system is a nice one, and smaller dungeon/worldmap battles arent taking much time, it just remembers me on the FFX system, just with some more features, and you dont have 3 partymembers, you have 3 "groups", the differrence: it looks more xD the people in the groups are like "equipment" for the main character with their own attack animation, while attacking with the main character, nothing more.

makes fun so far, but now i have to go to work :P

if Square Enix had taken TIME TO FIX THE FRAME RATE issues and small bugs/glitches this game would have been AMAZING

why the hell did they not do that, dammit!!!

I would have liked more control over the characters, like giving commands individually rather than group commands and you should be able to choose each characters weapons and accessory's but you can't. Otherwise this is a fine game.
