Just finished the game for the first time. Love the story and characters, but the dungeons get really frustrating at times. The gameplay itself is quite good, but some of the dungeons just feel too long. Message | Report |

After having finished P3 FES recently, I gotta say I still prefer this game. The gameplay is better and there are more things to do after you finish a dungeon, not to mention the pacing of the story is better. Granted, the ending of P3 is superior in every way, but P4 was just more fun to play overall. Message | Report |

Well, I really liked the story of this game, it was the strongest point for me. Maybe because I liked the atmosphere and I'm a sucker for mystery story sort of things. I haven't played P3 yet but I plan to, so I can't say which one is better for now. Message | Report |

It's a matter of taste, the story in this game wans't appealing to me and got bored of the story pretty fast (Dungeon 4) Also, i agree the characters are more realistic but I couldn't stand most of them. Persona 3 is more Shin megami tensei and the characters are more...interesting. Just my opinion here Message | Report |

Agreed with Xen, compared to P3 this game it's pretty weak in terms of story and gameplay (because it's the same in almost everything) but by itself it's a great game. Shame this sold better than P3 and it's more worldwide known than P3 Message | Report |

Also, Dragon Quest VIII was a success in Europe, it sold even more than in the US region. SMT isn't really popular here, unfortunately, due to lack of non-english translations and this series only appeared in Europe in 2005. It was a long time before you actually get to play properly in the game, but the introduction was highly enjoyable and waiting was well rewarded with what has so far been an awesome game. I don't understand what some stuff like Arcana means, but I'm sure I'll eventually get it. Message | Report |

This game is really the goty. I can't say enough how good it is. It puts pretty much everything released in 2009 in its place and will prolly be better than anything coming out in 2009. The writing is excellent, characters are realistic, the gameplay is fun and the social link system, which is awesome in 3, is improved. Anyone who does not think this is goty either has not played it or hates rpgs. Message | Report |

i don't play rpg's but i have a huge amount of respect for this game. i bought it for my brother for christmas because i knew he'd like it. he wasn't sure at first, but now he is hooked. this game should have got more attention and it is unfair that it got overlooked in many goty events. Great first week, it did more than the first week of P3 and FES combined. I'm sure that the fantastic game that P3 was created a very good fanbase, and the 94 at Metacritic sure is making it's part too. Nice first week sales. I was "only" expecting 50K first week sales but my expectations were surpassed. What also suprises me is that the game is selling better than The Last Remnant, a high profile S-E JRPG. This proves that getting univeral praise can do wonders for a game's sales.
