Forums - Sports Discussion - The Official Olympics Rio 2016 thread - USA Get Most Golds, 2nd GB, 3rd China

Tagged games:

Thought I'd open up a thread to discuss the the 31st Olympic Games in Rio, which has it's opening ceremony today.

Let's here from you about your countries prospects, what sports you are interested in and all that stuff.

Being from the UK I think we have some really good prospects, we should hopefully clean up in Track Cycling (which I really like watching) and hopefully the road race. We do well in rowing so expect good things there. We might win the triathlon if the Brownlee brothers are both in form. A few athletics medals might come our way with Mo Farah and others.

The new sport added for this year is Golf. So some big name pros are there. (I am still not sure why Squash isn't an Olympic sport however.)

I'll try and post the updated Medals table in the OP when things start getting going and when I can. Google have a nice schedule thing here: https://goo.gl/jVtQEM

Haha, yeah. Hopefully they can do well in this, with players like Neymar playing, they might do. After the heartache that was the World Cup obviously.

Hmm, pie.

The golf course really will put their skills to the test. They must  hit the ball and not letting it landing over a capybara or a sloth

My country won't win any medals but hopefully we'll get close in the men's double trap event - Malta

You should watch the track cycling, not only is it great to watch, but Germany are one of the best in the world at it.

Sorry all trap placements go to Japan and Thailand. They always go.

I may be watching some of it. Handball and football seems interesting.
