In celebration of the approaching release date of ORAS, I thought of making a topic on Pokemon Regions and which one rules them all. It's simple, which Pokemon Region is your favorite?

Mine would have to be Hoenn and it's not because ORAS is right around the corner. I started playing Pkmn with Red back in Gen 1 and while Kanto and Johto are absolute classics, there was something about Hoenn that made me fall in love with it. Maybe it's because I'm big on games that have tropical regions (One of the many reasons, Chrono Cross is my favorite game of all time), the amazing soundtrack, the lush green areas, the expansive ocean, the unique locations never seen before in a Pokemon game (Fortree, Sootopolis, Pacifidlog, Slateport, etc.). There was so much identity and uniqueness in Hoenn that really appealed to me.

A lot of people complained about the surfing in the second half of the game but I didn't really have a problem with it (REPELS!). To me, it's a beautiful region that I would love to live in real life (Time to go to Kyushu!).

Now that's not to say the other regions are bad. I do like Kanto and Johto. The industrial aspects of Kanto is classic and I really did like the history and culture of Johto. Johto has mistifying places like the Ilex forest and Ecruteak City. I also really liked Sinnoh and Kalos as well. Unova is my least favorite region. Also, if you guys wanna talk about the regions in the side games go right ahead. The only other one I know somewhat extensively is Orre.

I had a big crush in Sinnoh. I wanted to discover what was hidden in every single square of that game. It has a lot of variety, and the Pokemon mithology just encouraged me to go on an adventure. The mansion where you find Rotom is a big memory of mine. Every city is special, and, well, just how extensive the story/sidequests make the game made me feel that there was always something new to find in each part of the game.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yes, one of the things I loved from Sinnoh was the backstory and mythology of it all. The backstory of the creation of time, space and the Pokemon world was really interesting. One of my favorite parts in the game was being in Canalave City and reading the books in the library, it was intriguing to read up on how the world came into being.

Johto - the HGSS one that has TWO brilliant soundtracks, a Battle Frontier, a wonderful variety in locales, at least a point in the region where you don't have to explore it in a linear way (I wish newer Pokémon games would have non-linear points like Kanto and Johto did). Great locations in Johto include the Lake of Rage, Ice Cave (infuriating but unforgettable), a big city in Goldenrod, the National Park etc. etc.

I liked Johto and Sinnoh.

Hoenn and Sinnoh are the best two, Hoenn being #1 of course. It's varied locations like the desert, rainforest, valcanos, islands, and plenty of caves are the best in the series. Johto and Kanto are super boring and vastly inferior in comparison.

Hoenn and Kalos are my highlights

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Hoenn, I love videogames with a lot of sea to explore, that's why Windwaker and AC:Black flag are of my favorite games in those series.

I know... my English sucks.

Definitely love Johto. I liked Kalos quite a bit as well.

1. Hoenn (Saphire/Ruby)
2.  Johto (Silver/Gold)
3. Kanto (Red/Blue)
4.  Kalos (XY)
5. Unova (Black/White)
6. Sinnoh (Diamond/Pearl)

As for games I dont have an order any more.  Id prob put Sahpire then either XY or Crystal.  Only pokemon game i didnt care for was diamond and pearl.
